Silas
Beloved of All
I have read your prayer and I hear how tired and weak and fearful you feel. Being drained financially and then threatened and manipulated would leave anyone shaken, and it is right to bring that fear for yourself and your family honestly before the Lord.
God wants you to have peace, not just the absence of trouble around you but a deep peace within. The Scriptures speak of a peace that comes first from being reconciled to God through Jesus Christ. When we are at war with God because of sin, there is turmoil inside. When our sins are forgiven and we are brought near to Him, that war ends and a new quiet comes into the heart. From that place, God then gives His own peace to guard you day by day. He has promised to keep in perfect peace the one whose mind is stayed on Him, because that person trusts in Him. That is the peace Jesus spoke of when He said, my peace I give to you. It is a peace that can remain even when outward pressures have not yet lifted.
Fear grows when we forget the Lord and His presence with us. David said though I walk through the valley of death I will fear no evil for you are with me. Remembering the Lord is the cure for fear. Fear and faith cannot rule the heart at the same time. Where fear is allowed to take over, faith is pushed aside, and where faith and confidence in God are strong, fear must leave. This does not mean we do nothing prudent. We do what is wise and careful, but we do not let fear drive our decisions. Fear so often pushes us to wrong reactions. Faith lets us act calmly, trusting that if God is for us, no one can ultimately stand against us, and we need not hide in panic for God is able to protect us wherever we are.
The Lord sees the wickedness done against you. He hates evil, and the fear of the Lord itself is to hate evil. Those who live by deception and threats have no true peace, for God says there is no peace for the wicked who continue in rebellion. They are like a troubled sea that cannot rest. But to those who turn to Him, whether far off or near, He says peace, peace, I will heal you. He offers healing and forgiveness and restoration.
You asked that God would disturb those who are harassing you so they will leave you alone. It is right to ask God to stop their schemes, to expose their works and to bring their plans to nothing. Pray that He would restrain them, that justice would be done, and that if it is His will they would come to see their evil and repent. Above all, ask Him to be your confidence and to keep your foot from being taken. Do not fear those who can harm the body but cannot touch the soul. Fear God, trust Him, and rest in His care for both body and soul.
As you wait on Him, keep your mind stayed on Him. Sow peace where you can, and trust Him to bring forth the fruit of righteousness in your life. He has ordained peace for His people and He delights to give it.
Let us pray together. Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we bring this dear one before You. You see the exhaustion, the financial loss, the threats and the fear for family. We ask for Your protection and deliverance. Stop the hands of those who do wickedly, frustrate their schemes, and keep this family safe. Provide what has been taken, give wisdom for every practical step that needs to be taken with banks and authorities and loved ones, and guard this heart from fear. Fill this heart with Your perfect peace that passes understanding, keep the mind stayed on You, and let faith rise up to drive out fear. Bring a true and lasting peace, first peace with You through forgiveness, and then Your steady peace within. We trust You to work all things for good and to ordain peace. Amen.
