We have heard your prayer request and we join with you in bringing your heart before the Lord in the name of Jesus Christ, for we are thankful you came in His name for there is no other way to the Father.

We understand your deep desire for this young woman and your longing for her to message you and for a lasting love to grow between you, and we know how strong such feelings can be. At the same time we want to lovingly share some biblical truth to help guide your heart and your prayers.

Prayer is not an incantation to make another person act at a specific moment or to compel love according to our timetable. Scripture teaches us that God hears us when we pray according to His will, not merely according to our desires. This is the boldness which we have toward him, that, if we ask anything according to his will, he listens to us 1 John 5:14. And also You ask and don’t receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it for your pleasures James 4:3. Love cannot be forced or manipulated, even through prayer, for God has given each person free will and true love must be freely chosen and patiently nurtured. Love is patient and is kind, love doesn’t envy, love doesn’t brag, is not proud 1 Cor 13:4.

We also want to encourage you to see this relationship through the lens of godly courtship with marriage as the goal. The Bible speaks of a girlfriend or boyfriend not as a casual or forever dating partner but as a brother or sister in Christ being considered as a potential godly spouse. For this reason we encourage you to pray not simply for messaging or for falling in love, but for God’s perfect will for both of you, for purity, and for marriage if it honors Him. Therefore a man will leave his father and his mother, and will join with his wife, and they will be one flesh Gen 2:24. Marriage between a man and a woman is to be lifelong and holy before God.

If you are pursuing this young woman, we urge you to examine whether you both know Jesus as Lord and are seeking Him first, for we must not be unequally yoked with unbelievers 2 Cor 6:14. And we urge you to guard yourselves from fornication, which is any sexual intimacy outside of marriage. Flee sexual immorality 1 Cor 6:18 and let sanctification and self control mark your courtship, keeping your bodies and minds pure until marriage. Even emotional obsession or demanding constant contact can become unholy if it puts a person in the place only God should have.

Instead of demanding an immediate response, we encourage you to trust the Lord with all your heart and to seek His kingdom first. Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight Prov 3:5-6. Seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well Matt 6:33. Delight yourself also in Yahweh, and he will give you the desires of your heart Ps 37:4 when those desires are shaped by Him.

We pray together with you now.

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift this young man and this young woman to You. Lord, You know the affection he feels and the desire he has for communication and for lasting love. We ask that Your will be done in both of their lives. If it is Your will for them to grow in godly love leading toward marriage, we pray You would draw them closer to You first and then to each other in purity, respect, honesty and patience. Help him to not seek to control her heart but to respect her as Your daughter and to communicate with kindness and integrity. Guard them both from sexual immorality and from idolatry of the relationship, and help them to delight in You above all else. Give him peace while he waits, wisdom to discern Your voice, and courage to accept Your answer whether it is yes, no, or wait. Make his paths straight and prepare him to be a godly husband if You call him to marriage. We ask all this in the precious name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and mediator, amen.

We hear how much this young woman means to you and how strongly you are hoping to hear from her right away. Waiting for a message when your heart is so invested can feel restless and lonely, and we are grateful you brought that longing honestly to the Lord.

We are praying with you not just for a reply, but for peace and clarity for both of you as you wait. Love grows best when there is room for each person to respond freely, and watching for an instant answer can make the waiting feel even heavier.

One small step that often helps in a moment like this is to give the waiting some breathing room after you pray. Try setting your phone aside for a little while and turning to something steady and life giving, a walk, time with family or trusted friends, gathering with your church, or work you can give your attention to. It honors her freedom to respond in her own time and it can ease the pressure you feel while you wait. Staying connected in real community day by day also helps loneliness lift more than waiting alone.

Father, we bring this brother and this young woman before You in Jesus name. You see his hope and his loneliness. Give him Your peace tonight, guard his heart, and give wisdom to both of them. Lead them according to Your good will and help him to rest in Your care while he waits. Amen.

Your longing has been heard, and we perceive in your words a deep affection and desire for love that endures. It is right to bring the desires of the heart before the Lord, for He is gracious and hears prayer, yet we must learn how to pray as those who trust His wisdom rather than our own wishes.

It is a comfortable conviction for all God's people that all things work together for good to them that love God, and that God ruleth and overruleth and reigneth in all events that transpire, from seeming evil still producing good, and better still. Prayer is not a means by which we may bend the will of another to our own, nor by which we may command the Lord to do as we desire at this very moment. The will of man is stubborn and the heart cannot be forced, and though the work of the Spirit is to change the human will and make men willing in the day of God's power, we are not to ask God to overrule another as if that soul were a servant to our longing.

You have said, let her message now, let love be secured forever. But hear what the Scripture saith by the apostle James, that we ought to say, If the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that. They said, We will go, we will continue, we will buy, we will sell, we will get gain. But is it not foolish for a man to feel that he can do as he likes and that everything will fall out as he desires, that he can both propose and dispose and has not to ask God's consent at all. Dear friend, do you put yourself entirely at God's disposal. We will not even wish for what we desire unless we can be promoting the will of God by having it. Our best profit will consist of doing God's will.

Therefore we cannot ask God to bless simply what we wish, but we ask Him to make His will known and to give grace to walk in it. True love is not measured by swift messages, but by a holy and patient trust. We trust in Him whose power will never be exhausted, whose love will never cease, whose faithfulness will never be sullied, whose wisdom will never be nonplussed. What time we are afraid, we will trust in Him. If you fear the loss of affection, put your trust in Him and all will be well, for He who feeds the ravens will not allow a soul that rests upon Him to lack what is truly good.

Remember also that the love which God honors is set within His holy ordinance. Marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and all that belongs to love's intimacy and dwelling together belongs within that covenant alone. Salvation itself is through Jesus Christ alone, and He must be first in the heart before any earthly love can be rightly ordered. Seek first to love Him who gave His Son to die for us and His Spirit to live in us, for the full meaning of love is not conveyed in hasty words but in a life laid down. If you perceive that Christ loved you so much as to die for you, there will leap up in your heart somewhat of love to Him, and that love will teach you to love others purely, patiently and selflessly.

So let us pray not that your will be done upon another, but that God's will be done in earth as it is in heaven. We pray that the Lord would draw you both to Himself, that you would know His sparing love and restraining love and saving love in Christ, that He would keep you in purity and give you wisdom, that if it be His will to join your lives in holy marriage He would make the way plain in His time, and if not, that He would give contentment and holiness in His better way. May you learn to say, I will go or stay, I will speak or wait, if the Lord wills, and there to serve Him.

May the Lord give you grace so to love Him and to find such perfect liberty in His service, that you are kept from presumption and led in patience, trusting His answer which comes before we call and while we are yet speaking.

God, bless me to have an ever growing closer stronger, more intimate relationship with You. Bless me with the love, desire, strength, and the spirit of obedience to always delight myself in You, seek first Your kingdom, Your righteousness, and to always respect and obey You. Bless me to know You, the way You want me to know You. So that I will trust You with my life and anyway that You move in my life. Bless me to trust You with all my heart, lean not to my own understanding, acknowledge You in all my ways, and allow You to direct my footsteps and actions. Bless me with knowledge, wisdom, and understanding in all You have called me to do.

God heal me in every area of my life. Deliver and cleanse me of everything in my life that doesn't honor You. Transform and renew my mind. Bless me with love, power, and a sound mind. Let the mind that is in Christ Jesus be in me. Bless me to have and operate with a God-conscious-solution-focused-heart-mind-spirit-and-attitude. Bless me to have a God Kingdom Culture Mentality. God be with me as a mighty warrior. Let no weapon formed against me prosper. Protect me from all the plans of my enemies and the plans of the enemy of my soul. God, all that I have asked of You, in this prayer, please do the same for the writer of the prayer, all those who love and care about me, and all those I love and care about.
