We join you before the Living and True God in the name of Jesus and we thank you for coming to Him through Jesus Christ, for there is no other name by which we must be saved and no other way to the Father. As it is written, Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6 and There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. We praise God that you have asked in His name and we stand with you to seek His will together.
We hear the weight of what you carry, the pain of domestic violence and gender based violence, the deep wounds within your family and the family of your ex-partner, and the burden of legal proceedings. We affirm that God hates violence. The Lord tests the righteous, but his soul hates the wicked and him who loves violence Psalm 11:5. He calls us to Learn to do well. Seek justice. Relieve the oppressed Isaiah 1:17 and to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God Micah 6:8. We rebuke every form of violence, abuse, coercion, and domination, for these are works of the flesh and not the fruit of the Spirit. We also rebuke the strongman you named, ego, pride, carnality, anguish and falsehood, for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the throwing down of strongholds 2 Corinthians 10:4. We ask the Lord to expose every lie and to bring forth truth in these proceedings, for He desires truth in the inward parts and He will judge righteously.
We also want to speak with love and clarity about relationships. We believe marriage is a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman as God designed it from the beginning, and we encourage every relationship to honor that design. Being a boyfriend or girlfriend should be understood as courtship with the goal of marriage to another Christian believer, not as a partnership outside of covenant. If there has been sexual intimacy outside of marriage, Scripture calls it fornication, and if outside a marriage covenant with another, it may be adultery, and God calls all of us to flee from sexual immorality and to pursue purity. Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body 1 Corinthians 6:18. We say this not to condemn you, for there is forgiveness and cleansing through the blood of Jesus Christ, but to invite you and your ex-partner into repentance, healing and holiness. If reconciliation is ever considered, we pray it would only be on the foundation of genuine repentance, safety, accountability and a Christ centered marriage that honors God, and if not, we pray the Lord will guide each of you toward godly spouses in His time and according to His will, or to walk in contented singleness serving Him.
You asked to be taught to pray and we love that request. Jesus taught us to pray, Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy. May your Kingdom come. May your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we also forgive our debtors. Bring us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one Matthew 6:9-13. We are also taught to pray with persistence and faith, for the insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective James 5:16. We do not need eloquent words, but a humble heart that asks for wisdom, for If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him James 1:5.
So together we pray.
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before Your throne of grace and we ask for Your mercy upon our dear one who prays, upon her ex-partner and his family, upon both families and all those close to them, and especially upon the professionals involved, judges, lawyers, counselors, advocates and social workers. Look upon us all through the blood of Jesus Christ, for the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin 1 John 1:7. We ask You to cover with Your protection and power, as a wall of fire around us, everyone who prays, fasts or intervenes for the sake of Your name, whether they are believers or not. We pray that You would draw each one with cords of love, for You have said I drew them with cords of a man, with ties of love Hosea 11:4.
Lord, let Your will be done in these lives for the sake of Your name, let Your kingdom come and Your purposes prevail. Do not let us fall into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for You are faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one 2 Thessalonians 3:3. We ask You to bind the strongman in our lives, the spirit of pride and ego, carnality, anguish and every falsehood, for No one can enter into the house of the strong man and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man Matthew 12:29. And we ask You to loose Your Holy Spirit to guide, influence and draw us in all things, to lead us into all truth and to produce in us love, joy, peace and self control.
We pray for the legal proceedings, that truth would be revealed, that justice would be done without partiality or corruption, and that mercy would triumph where repentance is genuine. We pray for the professionals, that You would grant them wisdom, integrity and courage to act justly and to protect the vulnerable. We pray for healing from trauma, for the Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit Psalm 34:18, and that You would be a refuge and fortress to those who dwell in Your shelter Psalm 91:1. Teach us to forgive as You have forgiven us, while also trusting vengeance to You, for it is written, Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord Romans 12:19, and help us to set healthy and godly boundaries that protect life and honor You.
We pray for deliverance from carnality and for a new mind conformed to Christ, that we would not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of our mind Romans 12:2. We ask for humility in place of pride, truth in place of falsehood, peace in place of anguish, and the fullness of Your power and the covering of the blood of Jesus over every person lifted before You today. Have mercy on us, O God, according to Your loving kindness, and teach us to walk in Your ways.
We thank You that You hear us when we pray in Jesus name, and we trust You to answer according to Your perfect love and wisdom. We ask all this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
We encourage you to remain steadfast in prayer and in the Word, to stay connected to a faithful local body of believers for counsel and accountability, and to continue to seek safety and wise counsel regarding the legal and personal matters before you. The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness Psalm 103:8, and His compassions never fail Lamentations 3:22. We continue to stand with you, asking that His will be done and His kingdom come in your life and in the lives of all those you have named.
