Lord Jesus, we declare victory over this rented apartment situation, and we ask for your healing power to guide the landlord (ex) on his life's journey.

We join you in lifting up this situation before the throne of grace, standing firmly on the truth of God’s Word. The verse you shared from Luke 9:24 is a powerful reminder of the call to surrender all to Christ, for "whoever loses his life for my sake will save it." This is the heart of the Gospel, dying to self so that Christ may live in us and through us. We pray that the landlord would come to know this truth in a profound way, that his heart would be softened to receive the saving grace of Jesus Christ.

Father in Heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, the only name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). We ask that You would draw this landlord to Yourself, Lord. Open his eyes to the darkness of his own heart and reveal the light of Your love and salvation. Let him see that apart from You, he is lost, but in You, there is eternal life and purpose. We declare that no one is beyond Your reach, and we stand on the promise that "the Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some count slowness; but is patient with us, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance" (2 Peter 3:9).

We rebuke every spirit of hardness, pride, and rebellion that may be resisting the work of the Holy Spirit in this man’s life. We command every stronghold of unbelief to be broken in the name of Jesus, for "the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds" (2 Corinthians 10:4). We pray that Your Word would not return void but would accomplish the purpose for which You sent it (Isaiah 55:11). Let the truth of Your Gospel penetrate his heart, and may he respond in repentance and faith.

Lord, we also lift up the situation surrounding this rented apartment. We ask that You would bring peace, resolution, and healing to any conflicts or tensions that may exist. We declare that Your light expels all darkness, and we pray that this home would be a place where Your presence dwells. May the landlord and all who enter this space encounter Your love and grace in tangible ways. We thank You that "the earth is the Lord’s, and all its fullness" (Psalm 24:1), and we trust You to work all things together for good for those who love You (Romans 8:28).

We pray for the ex-partner mentioned in this request as well. Lord, we ask that You would minister to their heart and draw them into a deeper relationship with You. Heal any wounds, restore what has been broken, and let Your love be the foundation of their life. May they, too, come to know the joy of surrendering their life to You.

Father, we thank You for Your faithfulness and for the victory we have in Christ Jesus. We declare that no situation is too difficult for You, and we trust that You are working even now to bring about Your perfect will. A life truly surrendered to Jesus is the deepest need anyone can have, and we are praying right alongside you that your landlord will come to that place of saving trust. It can be easy to grow weary when we do not see immediate change, but quiet, steady prayer and simple acts of kindness over time often till the soil in ways we cannot yet see. Keep bringing that request before God with the confidence that he cares even more than we do, and keep showing the same grace you are asking for, something as ordinary as a patient, friendly word from you may one day open a door you never expected.

Father, we lift up this landlord to you now. You know every detail of his life, every burden he carries, and every thought he has never spoken out loud. We ask you to draw him to Jesus in a way that is beautifully unmistakable. Break through whatever keeps him from seeing his need for you, and help him find life by laying down his own. In the waiting, give our friend here steady hope and a gentle, genuine love that does not push but walks alongside. We trust your timing and your power. In Jesus’ name, amen.

The words of our text cut like a sharp sword: to cling to a life of self-rule is to forfeit all, but to lose one’s life for Christ is to find it eternally. This is submission to God, the true surrender of every proud pretension or conceited claim. Here lies the core of your plea for the landlord. He seeks to save his life, holding the keys of his own dwelling and charting his own course, yet stands in peril of losing everything. Fling wide the gates of the city of Mansoul, and admit the Prince Emanuel to rule as sole sovereign in every street. That is what must happen for him, a full capitulation, an unconditional surrender. You have prayed that he will give his life to our Lord Jesus, and it is right to do so, for without this surrender he cannot know peace.

Consider that the house in which we dwell has God for its Landlord, and we are only tenants. The very situation of a rented apartment becomes a vivid parable. The Great Landlord has the right to enter and possess His own property. Is this landlord ready, if at this moment he had to surrender possession, for the Lord to walk every room of his soul? May he cheerfully leave the first house of self and joyfully surrender the key to the Great Landlord, acknowledging that we live on sufferance as His tenants. He must see that it is not a matter of bargains or good works. If a man comes bringing his own terms, his morality, his pride of ownership, I will send him away; there is no salvation for him, for it is without money and without price. The way is to believe on Christ, trusting in Him alone. Depend upon Him without fear as to your present and eternal salvation. This is the faith which saves the soul.

You have rightly declared that the Lord’s light expels all darkness. The darkness of soul-ignorance is taken away only by looking to Him. The place of a lost sinner is outer darkness, but Christ has overcome it. Let your continued prayer be that the landlord would look, and look alone, to Christ, for this is the simple method of salvation. One look does not require a moment. Salvation is God’s greatest work, and it is his own, planned in infinite wisdom, full of free grace. Press on in prayer that this tenant of earth may become a child of God, not by reforming his lease, but by losing all claim and finding life in the Great Landlord’s mercy. Go in this peace: the salvation you seek for him is God’s salvation, and it is secure beyond all hazard for all who trust in the name of Jesus.

You have chosen a verse of great depth, but let us be careful how we apply it. The saying of our Lord, "Whoever loses his life for my sake will save it," speaks first of a complete surrender, a death to self-will. To pray that your landlord would give his life to Christ is indeed a holy desire, yet we must not confuse our own confident declarations with the secret working of God. The same Peter who boldly declared, "Though all fall away, I will never," needed to learn through bitter failure that it is not in man to direct his own steps. Where he ought to have prayed humbly, "Lord, help us that we be not cut off," he trusted in his own resolve and so was permitted to fall, that he might learn to cling to Christ's word rather than his own strength.

So I urge you, do not merely announce victory as if by a word of command, but make your prayer a constant and humble supplication. It is of Him who calls that everything depends; the one who is called has nothing of his own but to obey. Therefore, ask earnestly that the Lord, who alone can illuminate the darkness, would grant your landlord a spirit of repentance, a true self-denial that counts earthly advantages as loss. Let your life be the first sermon he reads, a pattern of temperance and thanksgiving, singing hymns not only with your lips but in the quiet order of your household. This will do more than many declarations.

Continue to plead the mercy and grace of God, for no one can withstand His mighty power when He stretches out His hand to save. But do not think that a soul is won by a single prayer spoken in triumph. It is a work of divine cultivation, often requiring much patience and many tears. I am persuaded of better things in your case and trust that your love for this man is genuine; yet the more we hope, the more carefully we must guard against presuming upon outcomes that belong to God alone. Let your constant cry be, "Lord, have mercy; guide him to the loss that is gain, and save him through Jesus Christ, in whom all grace and peace abound." Amen.

Your prayer for your landlord carries the very heartbeat of Jesus’ call to discipleship. When our Lord said that whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for His sake will truly find it, He was cutting through every illusion of control. A person can build a kingdom of security, possessions, or self-rule, yet that kingdom stands on sand. True life, eternal life, begins only when we hand everything over to Christ. So your request is exactly right: your landlord needs to give his life away to Jesus in order to receive the life that never ends.

There is no darkness too deep for the light of Christ. From the beginning, the mission of God’s Son was to be the sunrise from on high, visiting us to give light to those who sit in the shadow of death. That light does not flicker before hard hearts or complicated circumstances. It pierces through, exposes sin, and draws people to repentance. And repentance is more than a nod toward God; it’s a changed mind about the old life, about greed, hatred, self-sufficiency, or whatever has held the throne. I join you in asking the Lord to bring your landlord to that turning point, where he sees his own need and cries out for mercy.

Think of the thief on the cross next to Jesus. By every outward measure, his life was wasted and dark. Yet in his final moments, he looked at the written charge above the Savior’s head, “King of the Jews”, and believed. He asked Jesus to remember him, and he heard the promise of paradise that very day. That man had nothing to offer but a yielded heart. If God could save him in that hour, He can surely reach your landlord. The same authority that raised Jesus from the dead is at work; no spirit, no stubbornness, no history of rejection can withstand His mighty power.

Your prayer for victory over the rented apartment situation is more than a plea for earthly things. It is a plea for the peace of God to reign and for His glory to be seen. Sometimes the very conflicts we experience are the means God uses to shake a soul awake. So do not grow weary in praying. Stand in the finished victory of Christ, and ask not only that the landlord be released from darkness, but that the power of Jesus would enter his life and fill every corner. The old life must be displaced by the new. That is exactly what losing his life for Jesus looks like, a surrender that brings genuine freedom.

Be encouraged. The same Lord who noticed the prayer of a brokenhearted tax collector, who touched lepers and welcomed prodigals, hears you. No one is so lost that the Good Shepherd cannot find him. I thank God with you for His love and faithfulness, and I pray that soon you will see the rising of that great light in the landlord’s heart, a life given over to Christ, so that he will not lose it but keep it for eternity.
