Beloved of All
My family is out of town; hope back home, the furnace keeps on going, no major power outages, and other bad happens there. My mum ### is going to have foot surgery, in late October; hope it turns out well. Heard it may snow soon; hope it’s the kind that doesn’t stay; and the big snow not happen until mid-December. My mum is an ESL tutor, with issues; she has a trial lesson soon on Preply; hope it turns out well; as if it doesn’t, she’ll force me to become a student, again, just to remain a super tutor; that’s cheating. She has private students, but worried about losing at least some of them, as in China, some changes were made there. I hope the private student issue and the Preply issue both turn out well. For Cambly, I hope my mum changes how she gets paid; gets the money she earned before, Cambly gets rid of PayPal and gets many Cambly students. Hope where my family is now; nothing majorly bad happens, had enough bad things happened; only been here for a few days.

We join with you in bringing all of these cares before our heavenly Father, for we know He cares for every detail of our lives and we can cast all our worries on Him because He cares for us. 1 Peter 5:7

We hear your concern for your home while your family is away, for the furnace to keep running, for no power outages, and for protection from other harm, and we hear your concern for where your family is now that nothing majorly bad would happen after you have already endured difficult days. We also lift up your mum as she prepares for foot surgery in late October, and we understand your worry about the coming snow and about her work as an ESL tutor with her trial lesson on Preply, her private students in China, and her work on Cambly and how she is paid. In all of this we are reminded not to be anxious but to make our requests known to God. Philippians 4:6-7 says In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Matthew 6:34 also reminds us that each day has enough trouble of its own, and we are to trust God for today and tomorrow.

We want to gently but clearly address one part of your request concerning the Preply trial lesson. You mentioned that if the trial does not go well your mum would force you to become a student again just to remain a super tutor and you rightly called that cheating. We affirm your conscience in recognizing this is wrong and we must rebuke that plan, for dishonesty even in small matters does not honor God. Proverbs 11:1 says A false balance is an abomination to Yahweh, but accurate weights are his delight. And Proverbs 10:9 says He who walks with integrity walks securely, but he who perverts his ways will be found out. To create a false student to keep a status would be deceit and would mislead others and ultimately harm your mum's witness and trustworthiness. Colossians 3:23 says Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men. We encourage you and your mum to trust the Lord with the outcome of the trial lesson and with her tutoring work, to be honest in all dealings, and to let God provide students and provision in His way, for He promises to supply our needs when we seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness. Matthew 6:33, Philippians 4:19

We also notice your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and that we are saved. Jesus said in John 14:6 I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. If we confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in our heart that God raised Him from the dead, we will be saved. Romans 10:9 For all have sinned and need a Savior, and Jesus died for our sins and rose again so that whoever believes in Him may have eternal life. We pray this in His name because there is no other way to approach God.

We pray together now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son. We thank You that You see our homes, our families, and our needs. We ask You to watch over our home while our family is away, to keep the furnace running, to prevent major power outages, and to protect it from harm. We ask You to watch over our family where they are now, to keep them safe from major harm and to bring them peace after many hard days. Psalm 121:8 says Yahweh will keep your going out and your coming in, from this time forward, and forever more, and we claim that promise. Lord, we lift up our mum to You for her foot surgery in late October. We ask for Your healing hand upon her, for wisdom for the doctors, for a successful surgery and complete recovery, for You have said But I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds, says Yahweh. Jeremiah 30:17 We also place the weather in Your hands, for You send the snow and You control the seasons. Job 37:6 says For he says to the snow, Fall on the earth, and we trust Your perfect timing. We pray for Your provision for our mum's work, for the trial lesson on Preply that it would be honest and fruitful, for her private students that You would sustain them despite changes in China, and for her work on Cambly that You would provide a fair and honest way for her to be paid and to find many students if it be Your will. Help us to walk in integrity and not to resort to cheating or dishonesty to keep status or gain, but to trust You to open doors no man can shut. Fill our hearts with Your peace that surpasses understanding and help us to seek You first in all things. We pray all of this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

We encourage you to continue to trust the Lord with each of these matters, to pray with thanksgiving, and to choose honesty even when it may cost a title or an advantage, for God honors faithfulness and integrity and He will provide for your family as you walk with Him.

We hear how many different worries you are carrying at once right now, and how heavy it feels while your family is away. Home and the furnace, the weather and power, your mum's foot surgery in late October, her tutoring work on Preply and Cambly and with private students, and wanting these few days away to stay peaceful after you have already been through a lot. It makes sense that it feels stretched thin when so many uncertainties are stacked together.

When there is a pile-up like this, it can help to sort what you can tend to from what you can only entrust to God. One small step that often steadies us is to write down the list just as you did here, note the one or two things you can actually check on today, and let the rest be a prayer list. For the house, if you have a trusted neighbor or friend nearby, a quick check-in about the furnace can ease that specific worry. For your mum's tutoring pressure, it may help to have a calm, honest talk with her before the trial lesson about what you are and are not comfortable doing, so expectations are clear ahead of time.

We are praying for you and your family in this season.

Father, we bring this family to You and ask for Your care over their home while they are away, for safety where they are now, and for peace in the days ahead. We ask for Your healing and guidance for his mum's foot surgery and for wisdom and provision in her tutoring work. Give them steady hearts and rest as they trust You with each concern, in Jesus' name, amen.

Your many anxieties have been brought before us and we have carried them to the throne of grace, where God hears the cries of His people.

We understand the weight of these smaller cares which together press heavily upon the heart, the home left behind with its furnace and power, the family journeying far off, the coming snow, and your dear mother facing foot surgery in late October. Remember that God takes care of the little things, the trifles of believers, and He who tells the number of the stars and calls them by name is not unmindful of your house or your family. You may do the right thing in what lies before you and then be no longer anxious about it, but leave the result with God, for He performs all things for His people and will sooner send help from heaven than suffer His children to be forsaken. When you fear, trust in Him, for a soul that trusts in the blood of Jesus Christ shall find Him to be as real as if it could be seen.

We have prayed that the Lord would keep your home in peace while your family is away, that no harm would come to it, and that He would watch over your loved ones wherever they are, keeping them from major trouble and bringing them home safely. We have asked the Great Physician, who is at the right hand of God, to be near to your mother. He heals the broken and binds up wounds, and even the leaves of the tree of life are for healing. May He guide the hands of those who will care for her, grant her a good recovery, and give her and you quiet confidence that when all other strength fails, God remains and His arm is our strength every morning.

Concerning your mother's labors as a tutor, we have prayed for honest provision. God sees not as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance but God looks at the heart, and He is not mocked. What is done in truth before Him is blessed, but to appear to be what we are not cannot deceive Him. It is far better to do the right thing and trust God for the outcome than to seek to keep a title by a fiction. So we pray that her trial lesson on Preply and her private students, even with changes far away in China, would be ordered by the Lord according to His wisdom, and that He would open honest doors for her daily bread. For the Cambly work we have asked that the Lord would provide a right and fair way for her to receive what she has earned and to find many honest opportunities, that she may labor with a clear conscience before God.

Cast all these cares upon Him, for He cares for you. And while we pray for these temporal mercies, we pray above all that you and your mother would look to the Son of God pouring out His life and trust Him fully for the pardon of sin, for He alone saves, and where He begins a good work He will complete it. Take God at His word, believe Him, and you shall find present peace and the hope of future glory.

May the Lord give you sweet repose in the shadow of His wings, and may you cry unto God most high who performs all things for you, and find Him faithful in every small and great matter.
