I hope to get money I am owed soon. Hope my dad ### deposits cheques in the bank. The van died. There is church picnic later today, hope I get there, hope my rides there and back have no issues. Long story, my mum ### wants to go out of town to another house my family has; it’ll be expensive to go there and back; also, problems more than likely miss more church, and getting things will be hard.

We hear the weight of your concerns, and we lift each one before the Lord with faith and trust in His provision. Financial strain, transportation troubles, and family decisions can feel overwhelming, but we know that our God is a God of order, peace, and abundance. Let us turn to Him together in prayer and seek His wisdom.

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts that trust in Your faithfulness. You know the needs of this dear one, every financial burden, every logistical challenge, and every concern about family decisions. Lord, we ask that You would move in the matter of the money owed. You promise in Your Word, "The rich rule over the poor. The borrower is servant to the lender" (Proverbs 22:7). We pray that this debt would be settled justly and swiftly, that the checks would be deposited without delay, and that provision would come in ways that honor You.

Father, the van has failed, and we ask for Your divine intervention. You are the God who provides for our needs, even in the smallest details. "But my God shall supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:19). We pray for reliable transportation, whether through repair, replacement, or the kindness of others, so that this one may attend the church picnic today and gather with Your people. Lord, let there be no issues with the rides to and from, and may this time of fellowship be a blessing and an encouragement.

We also bring before You the situation with their mother and the plans to travel. Lord, we ask for wisdom and discernment. "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him" (James 1:7). We pray that this decision would not lead to further hardship, missed opportunities to worship with the body of Christ, or unnecessary financial strain. Father, guide this family with Your peace and clarity, and let Your will be done in every detail.

Lord, we also lift up the importance of gathering with Your people. You designed us for community, and the church is Your bride. "Let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good works, not forsaking our own assembling together, as the custom of some is, but exhorting one another; and so much the more, as you see the Day approaching" (Hebrews 10:24-25). We pray that this one would not grow weary in seeking fellowship, for You meet us in the midst of Your people.

Above all, Lord, we ask that You would draw this one closer to You through these trials. May these challenges refine their faith and trust in You. "Count it all joy, my brothers, when you fall into various temptations, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance" (James 1:2-3). Strengthen their heart, Lord, and remind them that You are their Provider, their Peace, and their Strength.

We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the One who holds all things together and who is our ultimate source of hope and provision. Amen.

We encourage you to hold fast to God’s promises, dear one. Even in the midst of uncertainty, He is working all things together for your good (Romans 8:28). Keep your eyes on Him, and do not let fear or frustration dictate your steps. Lean on the body of Christ, reach out to your church family for support, whether it’s for a ride, a meal, or simply prayer. God often provides through the hands and hearts of His people.

If financial stress is weighing heavily on you, consider seeking godly counsel from your pastor or a trusted financial advisor within the church. Proverbs 15:22 says, "Where there is no counsel, plans fail; but in a multitude of counselors they are established." God can use wise, biblical advice to bring clarity and direction.

Lastly, we want to gently remind you of the importance of placing your hope and trust in Jesus Christ. It is only through Him that we have access to the Father, and it is only in His name that we can boldly come before God’s throne of grace (Hebrews 4:16). If you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus, we encourage you to do so today. Confess your sins, believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, and you will be saved (Romans 10:9). Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father except through Him (John 14:6). If you have already placed your faith in Him, continue to walk closely with Him, trusting that He is your Provider and your Peace.

We know that when one hard thing follows another, it can start to feel like you can’t catch your breath. A dead van, overdue money, family travel plans that threaten the rhythm of church, these aren’t small things, and the pile-up itself is a real weight. We see how much you want to simply get to the picnic and find some steadiness, and we’re right there with you in that.

Sometimes, when stressors crowd in, the best thing we can do is name which one is most pressing right now, and take one small, doable step. The van may not be fixed today, but maybe one of us at church can give you a lift to the picnic so that connection isn’t lost, and so you don’t have to manage it alone. The money you’re owed and the cheque deposit are on your mind, and we’ll keep praying about those, but it’s okay to place them in God’s hands for tonight while you let yourself rest in the good of being with His people.

Please know you are not being faithless by feeling anxious. Even Jesus’ closest friends had moments of not knowing how the next need would be met, and He didn’t scold them for it. He simply told them to look at the birds and the flowers, because their Father already knows. And so does yours.

We’re lifting up your day right now: for a safe, smooth ride to and from the picnic; for your ### and those cheques; for wisdom around the trip your ### wants to take and for a way through the expense and the missed Sundays. Most of all, we’re asking that in the middle of a week that feels heavy, you’d catch a glimpse of God’s nearness, that one quiet moment of worship or a kind word from a friend would settle something deep in your heart. In Jesus’ name, amen.

You have laid your many temporal needs before the Lord, and rightly so, for He careth for the body as well as the soul. Yet I fear the multitude of these cares may drown out the one thing needful. You speak of money owed and a van that has died, of rides and a picnic and a costly journey that would keep you from the assembly of the saints. Let me press upon you this truth: the great need of your soul is not a smooth path, but a revived heart that walks in fellowship with Christ.

The absence of that solemn earnestness which once marked believers is a sad proof that we need reviving. We too often take the whip to the Church when it must be laid upon our own shoulders. Commence with yourself. Is your first longing after money and convenience, or after the living God? You have need of healing, indeed, not merely of a banked cheque or a working motor, but of that deep healing which comes from the Savior who receiveth sinners. He is the very Friend you need, a Friend in your time of necessity, yet far more a Friend for your soul’s eternal necessity.

Do not say, “I cannot pray as I want,” as though your fitness could elbow Christ out of His place. He came to those who sit in darkness, not to those who fancy themselves already rich and increased with goods. The rich and poor meet together, the fat and the lean alike must say, “None can keep alive his own soul.” Venture not into your little family affairs without calling upon God for guidance, for if He leaves you, you will prove a devil to yourself. That anxious thought about missing church through your mother’s plans reveals a spark of grace; let it burn into a flame. The Church is a family, whole and entire within itself, needing nothing from without to make it complete. Let nothing willingly keep you from the fellowship of the saints, for that is a steppingstone to the fellowship of Heaven.

I would have you test Christ now, as often as need arises. Put Him to the proof. He knows your need for daily bread, for transport, for peace in your household; yet He bids you seek first the kingdom of God. That van may lie dead, but the Spirit can quicken your soul. That picnic may be reached, but better still, lay hold of eternal life. And as for the burdensome journey your mother proposes, if it hinders the means of grace, count the cost not merely in silver, but in spiritual dross. There is no superfluous member in Christ’s body; your absence would be felt, and your own soul would be the poorer.

Light the fire and get up steam, you need life and fire in the means you already have. Cry mightily, “O Lord, revive Thy work!” and leave your temporal cares to Him who feedeth the ravens. Our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ; let that suffice when all else fails. And fail it must, for none can keep alive his own soul, nor his own van either. Look to Him, and He will bring you through.

God, bless me to have an ever growing closer stronger, more intimate relationship with You. Bless me with the love, desire, strength, and the spirit of obedience to always delight myself in You, seek first Your kingdom, Your righteousness, and to always respect and obey You. Bless me to know You, so that I can trust You with all my heart, acknowledge You in all my ways, and lean not to my own understanding. Bless me with knowledge, wisdom, and understanding in all You have called me to do.

God heal me in every area of my life. Deliver and cleanse me of everything in my life that doesn't honor You. Transform and renew my mind. Bless me with love, power, and a sound mind. You speak of money owed of a van that has died of a journey that will be costly and keep you from the assembly of the faithful. Yet consider the parable your own mind knows: a servant deeply in debt to his master is robbed of some goods. If the master in his power does not stop the robber but instead reckons what was taken against the servant's debt is the servant injured? Far from it. And if the master repays more than was lost has the servant not gained? Every one I suppose perceives it. Your stranded van your delayed money these things which seem losses may be reckoned by the Master toward a debt you do not see. Do not fix your gaze so fiercely upon the earthly refund you hope to receive that you miss the heavenly reckoning already in motion.

You hope to reach the church picnic and that your transport there and back will have no trouble. You worry about a long and expensive journey that will make getting things hard and cause you to miss more of the worship of God. Let me ask you plainly: which necessity is greater the gathering of the saints or the expense of a house out of town? We are called to be one Church in every place and there is no need of traveling a long way nor of crossing a boundless ocean to seek the Lord. It is enough to have the will and all is done. Consider how gold is found with much labor with the hands by night with concentrated mind. Do you seek the Lord with this same intensity with which you scheme for money for a van or a journey? Do you travel from home to find Him or do you promise your soul rather than your coin? The widow threw in two mites and received everything not because money can purchase the Kingdom but because a ready purpose of mind can. She deprived herself of all she had and gave it as a free gift to herself. If you have this disposition you will be able even by two mites to purchase heaven; where this is not not even ten thousand talents of gold will do what the two mites could. Your happiness is not waiting in a repaired van or a deposited cheque.

You speak of problems with your mother's desire. To be sober of good behavior temperate to have one's household in subjection with all gravity these are the marks of those who care for the Church. A man who cannot rule his own house how shall he take care of the Church of God? If a gentlewoman thinks it a shame to go out with only two servants know that this is pride and vainglory. When she is content with few things then is she a gentlewoman indeed; when she needs many she is a servant and inferior to slaves. Do not the angels go to and fro about the world alone needing no one to follow them? Your mum as you call her sees a house out of town and thinks it necessary to go though it strains your means and steals you from the altar. But it is no shame to stay home with few things. The need for many attendants and many journeys is a chain not a freedom. Cast off the desire of wealth perjury and habitual oaths. There is no need of sweat nor of labor it is enough to have only the will.

You are burdened you say. Long story problems getting things. Yet the Apostle says his care is not that the Church be not burdened but that you be not burdened by leaving everything to the common store. Make for yourself a guest chamber in your own house even an underground room. Receive Christ there who is naked and a stranger. If you take no care for Him how will you care for a broken carriage? Your mind is scattered among cheques and vans and picnic rides and journeys out of town. Let your prayer be stripped of this tangle. Seek the Lord with your hands by night. Seek Him as one who has lost a great treasure. Your true need is not a van but a bridle on the restless tongue and the unruly desire. The picnic will not save you; the trip will not enrich you. One thing is necessary. Let God’s accounting house handle the money you are owed while you render to Him the purpose of your mind.

What a heavy load you seem to be carrying right now. I want you to know that you’re not alone in these concerns.

It’s understandable to hope that the money owed to you will come soon, and that ### will deposit the cheques without delay. But be careful not to let that hope become the thing that holds your heart. When the desire for gain drives us, it leaves us restless and empty. Yet when God is at the center, your life is truly rich, filled with a peace that circumstances can’t shake. Your real security isn’t in a deposited cheque or a working van, but in the God who knows your every need before you speak it.

I’m sorry the van has died, and I can hear your longing to be at the ### picnic. Being with God’s people is a gift, and I hope a way opens for you to get there safely, with no trouble on the way there or back. But if the rides don’t come together, please remember that worship isn’t bound to a building or an event. Jesus made it plain: God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and in truth. Wherever you are today, your heart can still praise Him. The church is not bricks and mortar; it’s the people, and you’re part of it even from a distance.

About ###’s wish to go out of town to ###: the added expense, the missed gatherings, the struggle to get the things you need, it’s understandable to feel uneasy. Before you go, quietly lay this before the Lord. Ask for His wisdom. Sometimes the urge to get away can pull us from the very fellowship that strengthens us, though God goes with you either way. Don’t let the trip become an escape that leads to a greater spiritual cost. Whatever you decide, keep your worship simple and your trust in Him.

Paul learned to be content with plenty or with little, working with his own hands rather than letting money become a snare. It’s not wrong to expect what is owed you, but while you wait, let the Lord be your provider. He can move hearts to do what’s right, and He can supply what’s needed in ways you don’t expect. The same God who stirred His people long ago to bring offerings for the place of worship can provide for a broken van or a tight budget.

I’ll be praying that the Lord eases your worries, gives you clarity about the travel, and, if it’s His will, gets you to the picnic with joy. But more than that, may you know His peace that surpasses understanding, keeping your heart and mind in Christ Jesus.
