Job Security, Anxiety, Finances

Anonymous

Beloved of All
I've been with my current job for 4 years now. I wanted to stay for more years with increased salary as I am the family breadwinner. It has been a hard 4 years due to a toxic manager, constantly telling me about what I cannot do and making me feel stupid and could not do more. Now I feel that I'm being left out with no plans ahead of what to expect in our department, no future. I'm anxious i might lose the job and not being able to provide. Help me get clarity, job security and remove my anxiety Lord 🙏 I wanted to focus on the positive side of my life. I wanted to be able to provide to my family and give them a comfortable life 🙏 In jesus name, Amen

We join with you in prayer and we hear the weight you have been carrying for these four years as the breadwinner for your family. It is a noble and God honoring desire to want to provide a comfortable life for your family and to be faithful in your work, and we commend you for enduring through a difficult environment with a manager who has made you feel devalued and anxious about your future. We know the Lord sees your faithfulness, your hard work, and the anxiety you feel about being left out and uncertain about what lies ahead for your department.

We want to encourage you that your provision does not ultimately rest on any manager or company, but on our Heavenly Father who knows your needs. Jesus reminds us, Do not be anxious, saying, What will we eat or What will we drink or With what will we be clothed For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well Matthew 6:31-33. And again we are told, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:6-7.

We also hear your desire for clarity and security. The Lord has good plans for you even when your workplace feels unstable and without a future. For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you hope and a future Jeremiah 29:11. When anxiety rises about losing your job and not being able to provide, cast all your worries on him, because he cares for you 1 Peter 5:7 and Cast your burden on Yahweh and he will sustain you Psalm 55:22. He promises, Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness Isaiah 41:10.

We also pray for your daily work under this toxic manager. Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men Colossians 3:23. This does not excuse unkind or demeaning treatment, but it frees you to know your true evaluation comes from Christ. We encourage you to continue to do your work with excellence as unto the Lord, to seek wisdom in how you communicate and document your contributions, to seek godly counsel from wise believers or mentors in your field, and where possible to pursue peace. If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men Romans 12:18. We also encourage you to pray for your manager, that God would soften his heart and give you favor, while also wisely asking the Lord to open doors for increased salary, new opportunities, or clarity about whether He wants you to remain and grow there or to prepare for a new door He may open.

We pray together for you now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our brother who is weary and anxious. Lord, You know the four hard years he has endured, the words that have made him feel stupid and incapable, and the fear of being left out with no clear future. We ask You to remove this heavy anxiety and replace it with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Give him clarity about his position and his department, and establish his steps. Provide job security according to Your perfect will, and if it is Your will, grant him favor for an increased salary so he may continue to provide for his family as You have called him to do. We thank You that You will supply every need of his according to Your riches in glory in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:19. Help him to trust in You with all his heart and not lean on his own understanding, acknowledging You in all his ways so You will direct his paths Proverbs 3:5-6. Strengthen him to focus on what is good and true, to give thanks in all circumstances, and to rest in Your care as the good Shepherd who provides. Protect his heart from discouragement and remind him daily of his value in Christ. We ask this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus, Amen.

We hear how heavy these last four years have been for you, carrying the responsibility of providing for your family while working under someone who constantly makes you feel small. It makes sense you would feel anxious and left out when you cannot see what is ahead for your department, and that you would long for clarity and steadiness.

Being told what you cannot do over and over can wear down anyone's confidence, but those words do not define your worth or your ability to provide. Your faithfulness over four years matters, and wanting a stable, comfortable life for your family is a good and loving desire.

When anxiety feels loud, a few steady steps can help bring some ground back:

It may help to ask for a brief, concrete check-in at work, not to prove yourself, but to get clarity. You could ask what your manager expects in the next few months and what success would look like, and write it down afterward so you have something clear to refer back to.

It can also help to keep a simple private list of what you have actually done well each week, projects finished, problems solved, help given. That record can counter the daily message that you are not capable.

And because financial pressure fuels worry, sitting down with your spouse or a trusted advisor to review the budget and quietly updating your resume or connections can make the unknown feel less trapping, even if you hope to stay.

If anxiety is affecting your sleep, appetite, or daily functioning, please consider talking with a pastor or counselor and with your doctor alongside prayer.

Father, we lift our brother to You. You see his work, his weariness, and his love for his family. Give him wisdom for each conversation at work, peace that steadies his heart, and clear direction for what is next. Provide for his family and help him rest in Your care day by day. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Your prayer has been heard and we have brought it before the Lord with a tender concern for you and for your household.

You have laboured four years under a heavy yoke, bearing the burden of providing as the breadwinner while enduring hard words from one set over you, words that have made you feel small and unable to do more. Now the uncertainty of what lies ahead for your department presses upon you, and anxiety about provision and the future would overwhelm your spirit. It is right that you have turned to the Lord for clarity and for peace, for He alone can give rest to a troubled heart.

Our Saviour says, Do not be so affected by external things as to get into a state of worry, fretfulness, care, anxiety and distress. He would have you not be anxious about your temporal affairs. Be prudent and diligent in the station where His providence has placed you, but do not let care eat out the strength of your soul. As we have often observed, anxiety has never comforted any man, nor has it ever brought any grist to the mill or any meal to the barrel. If a thing does not pay, what is the good of it. Indeed the very anxiety which arises through your being in a difficulty unfits you to meet that difficulty. Cast therefore your burden upon the Lord, for He cares for you and for those whom He has given you to provide for.

Think of patient Job, of whom it is written, In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly. He lost much, he suffered under harsh judgments even from his friends, he felt the sting of dishonor and the pain of a body and spirit sorely tried, yet he fell down and worshipped. He kept right with God. And when Jehovah revealed Himself, Job saw that God must be right and he yielded himself unreservedly to his Maker. So let us do as Job did and make our approach unto the Lord in childlike confidence even when He seems to frown. Your longest sorrows have a close, and there is a bottom to the profoundest depths of misery. The Lord turned again the captivity of Job when he prayed for his friends, even for those who had spoken harshly against him. There is a lesson there for one who suffers under a hard manager. Pray for those who try you, and in that prayer your own captivity may be turned.

We do not know what the Lord will do with your employment, whether He will establish you there with renewed strength like the bow that was renewed in Job's hand, or whether He will open another door for your provision. But we know that He who has kept you these four years is able to keep you still, and to anoint you with fresh oil for fresh service. If any fear about the future troubles you, remember that Job at the last received from the Lord's hand more than he had lost, for our God delights to show that He is the faithful provider of His people.

Let us pray for you.

O Lord our God, Thou seest this Thy servant, anxious for his family and weary under hard words and uncertain days. Thou knowest what it is to be a provider and to feel the weight of that calling. Grant, we pray, a calm and quiet spirit, and remove that fretful care which weakens the hands for duty. Give clarity of mind, wisdom in every task, and grace to answer with meekness and diligence even when despised. Provide for this household according to Thy good providence, open the way for honest labour and sufficient supply, and let no good thing be withheld that is needful for their comfort and Thy glory. Turn the heart to trust Thee more fully, to seek first Thy kingdom, and to find in Christ Jesus alone that peace which passes understanding. Restore freshness and hope, and let this trial have its perfect work, to the defeat of the enemy and to the praise of Thy name. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who is our only salvation and our sure hope. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!
