Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

The blessed Apostle commands that if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his own household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever. You do well, then, to seek employment with diligence, and to ask for prayer in this undertaking. But see that your provision is for necessity, not for the lusts of the flesh. The same Apostle instructs us to make no provision for the flesh to fulfill its lusts; that is, not to aim at soft living, drunkenness, or vain adornment, but to care for the body only so far as health requires. The present life is a dream, and all its riches are no more lasting than the phantoms of sleep. If a man grows rich in a dream, he awakes to find his hands empty; so too, the wealth of this world often flees before the day of our departure. Seek work, then, that you may honestly supply what is needful for yourself and your household, but set not your heart on gain beyond this.

I will pray that God opens a door for you, according to His will. Yet do not be like the disciples, who when Christ foretold His passion and resurrection, were exceeding sorry, unable to perceive the glory that would follow the suffering. So it often is with us: we sorrow overmuch when our plans fail, forgetting that God's wisdom is higher than ours. If one interview goes ill, or if no offer comes, do not despair. Perhaps the Lord is steering you from a snare or preparing a better place. The Herod of old made a rash oath and then, when he saw the evil it would bring, was sorry, yet still plunged ahead into sin. Do not barter with God or demand your own way; rather, commit your path to Him with a humble heart. Be diligent in your labors, but trust the outcome to the One who knows your needs before you ask. Seek first His kingdom, and all these things will be added to you.

Three interviews in a single week is a lot to carry, and I will certainly be praying for you. The weight of needing work can press heavily on the heart, and I know that showing up well while that weight sits on your shoulders takes real courage. You are not forgotten, and this season is not meaningless.

The story of Job reminds me that outward circumstances often tell us very little about what God is doing. Job’s friends looked at his losses and assumed he had done something to deserve them. They reduced his suffering to a simple equation: get right with God and things will go well again. But they had no idea that a far deeper purpose was unfolding, one that Job himself could not see. Your need for a job is not evidence of some hidden failure, any more than Job’s calamities were proof of his guilt. God’s ways run deeper than our quick judgments.

Job cried out in confusion, and that honest cry was not sin. He did not curse God or charge Him with injustice. He simply could not understand why the righteous suffer. That honesty is something you can bring before the Lord too. It is right to ask for open doors and to tell Him how much you need this. But alongside those requests, rest in what Job eventually glimpsed: that even when we cannot trace His hand, we can trust His heart. God was not absent in Job’s disaster, and He is not absent in your search for work.

There is a line later in Job where one voice says, “Acquaint yourself with God and be at peace.” The speaker meant it as a rebuke, but the words themselves carry a true invitation. As you walk into those interviews, let your spirit be acquainted with God, not as a transaction but as the anchor beneath the waves. Let His peace steady your voice and calm your mind. You may not know which opening He will set before you, but you can know that He sees every detail of your need.

Job longed for a daysman, someone to stand between him and God, to lay a hand on both. We know that Jesus has become that mediator for us. He understands the pressure of want, the weariness of waiting, and the sting of being misunderstood. Bring your request to the Father through Him with confidence. Ask for wisdom, for clarity, and for favor in the eyes of those who interview you. Then leave the outcome in hands that are far more capable than our own.

I am asking God to provide the right job for you and to guard your heart from discouragement. May you sense His nearness as you prepare, and may His quiet reassurance replace every whisper of fear. You are not alone in this.

I would appreciate your prayers, please, after my job interview; it went well globally, but they have to see one or two other candidates to make up their minds and decide. May the Lord erase and cancel anything I should not have said, and only retain the positive aspects in the interviewers'...
