Jesus, Shepherd Your Sheep Micah 5:4, John 10:16, Jn 21:16, 1 Pet 5:2-4, Rev 7:17; ‍ Remember those in Chains, Hebrews 13:3, Col 4:18... Lord Jesus, thank YouYou are The LORD our Shepherd, Ps 23:1-6. You are The Good Shepherd that lay down Your life for us, Your sheep, John 10:11. Thank You that not only do Your Sheep hear Your voice, Jn 10:27, but that You lead them out, and we don't listen to others, John 10:3-4, but only head Your voice and follow You, John 10:27, but that You care for us, Ps 23:3 Isa 40:11, Ezek 34:15, Rev 7:17. Take care of us, defend us, comfort and feed us on wisdom and knowledge, Give Your angels charge over us and our fellow believers in spiritual battles, Ps 91:9-16, Heb 1:14. Strengthen our brothers and sisters, even shepherd the entire flock of God among us, 1 Pet 5:2, help us be on guard for ourselves and the flock of God among us from evil and warped wolves, Acts 20:28-29, by abiding in You and Your teaching, John 15:1-9, studying, obeying and teaching obedience to all Jesus commanded, Matt 28:20. Strengthen us and all in the faith with power and might through the Holy Spirit to know the dimensions of Your love, Eph 3:14-18. Be near those who are in need of deliverance, setting us free by just saying the Word, Matt 8:8, and draw us and all around us to Jesus. Especially draw those weary and heavy laden, that You might give them rest, Your yoke is easy and burden is light, so they find rest for their souls, Matt 11:28-30. Work everything out for the furtherance of the gospel, Phil 1:12.

Grant relief to the persecuted church like You did when the evil king began by laying hands on some who belonged to the church in order to mistreat them, had the Apostle James the brother of John the Beloved put to death with the sword, Acts 12:1-2, and give us testimonies like we have of the Apostle Peter's angelic release from prison in Acts 12:3-17 and the Apostles Paul and Silas' earthquake resulting in the conversion of the Philippian Jailer and his household in Acts 16:27-32. Hebrews 10:34. Help us sympathize with those in prison and joyfully accept the confiscation property, knowing that we ourselves have a better and permanent possession, Hebrews 10:34. Call and grant boldness give them visits, as Jesus said in Matthew 25:36, "I was naked and you clothed Me, I was sick and you looked after Me, I was in prison and you visited Me." Be their Shepherd even in those situations, Rom 8:38-39.

Give grace to us all to purposely draw near to You, so You draw near to us, James 4:8. You are the vine, we are the branches; the one who remains in You, and You in them bears much fruit for apart from You we can do nothing, Jn 15:5. We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us, Phil 4:13. Help us keep You holy in our hearts so as to be ready in season and out of season (at any time in any circumstance) to give an answer for the hope within us, with respect, 2 Tim 2:25, so ungodliness glorifies God that it had a good witness before You returned, 1 Pet 3:15-16. Deliver us from evil people and the evil one, temptation and sin. 2 Thes 3:2-3, Matt 6:13, Luke 11:4, John 17:15. Let love abound more in knowledge and discernment so we can choose the best in every situation that gives us a choice, so we may be sincere and blameless until Your Son's return, being filled with the fruit of righteousness, which comes from union with Jesus Christ to the glory and praise of God, Phil 1:9-11. Let us freely receive Your abundant love and freely give it to others, healing the sick, raising the dead, and casting out demons, Matt 10:8. Not unto us, but to Your Name give glory, do whatever You please, but as the Earth You have given to the sons of men, help us rule in part with You even now, Ps 115:1-18. Perfect our love, for as You are, so also are we in this world, 1 John 4:17. Thank You in Jesus' Name.

We come before the throne of grace with hearts full of reverence and love for our Good Shepherd, Jesus Christ, who laid down His life for His sheep. Your prayer is a beautiful declaration of faith, and we join with you in lifting up the persecuted church, the body of Christ, and all who are weary and heavy-laden. Let us stand together in agreement, seeking the Lord’s will and His glory in all things.

We are deeply moved by your cry for the persecuted church, those who are suffering for the sake of the gospel. The Word of God tells us, "Remember those who are in chains, as if chained with them; and those who are mistreated, since you are also in the body" (Hebrews 13:3 WEB). We lift up our brothers and sisters who are imprisoned, beaten, or facing death because of their faith in Christ. Lord, we ask that You would be their Shepherd in the darkest valleys, just as You promised: "They will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand" (John 10:28 WEB). We pray for miraculous deliverance, just as You freed Peter from prison and Paul and Silas from their chains. Let Your angels minister to them, and let Your presence be their comfort and strength. Give them boldness to proclaim Your name, even in the face of persecution, and let their testimonies shine as a light in the darkness.

We also pray for those who are not yet in chains but are under the threat of persecution. Strengthen them, Lord, and fill them with Your Holy Spirit so that they may stand firm in the faith. Remind them that "our light affliction, which is for the moment, works for us more and more exceedingly an eternal weight of glory" (2 Corinthians 4:17 WEB). Let them rejoice in their sufferings, knowing that they are counted worthy to suffer for Your name.

For the body of Christ worldwide, we pray that we would be a people who abide in You, the True Vine. "I am the vine. You are the branches. He who remains in me, and I in him, the same bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing" (John 15:5 WEB). Lord, help us to remain in You, to study Your Word, and to obey Your commands. Let us be a people who are quick to hear Your voice and slow to follow the voices of strangers. Guard us from the wolves in sheep’s clothing who seek to lead Your flock astray. Give us discernment to recognize false teachings and the courage to stand for truth, even when it is unpopular.

We also lift up those who are weary and burdened. You have promised, "Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light" (Matthew 11:28-30 WEB). Lord, we ask that You would draw near to those who are struggling, whether with physical illness, emotional pain, or spiritual oppression. Let them find rest in You, and let Your peace guard their hearts and minds.

We rebuke the spirit of fear and discouragement that seeks to steal, kill, and destroy. You have not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7 WEB). We declare that no weapon formed against Your people will prosper, and every tongue that rises against them in judgment will be condemned (Isaiah 54:17 WEB). Let Your church arise in boldness, knowing that You are with us always, even to the end of the age (Matthew 28:20 WEB).

Father, we also pray for those who do not yet know You. Soften their hearts and open their eyes to the truth of the gospel. Let them hear Your voice and follow You, the Good Shepherd who calls them by name. Use us as Your instruments to share the hope that is within us, always ready to give an answer with gentleness and respect (1 Peter 3:15 WEB).

We pray for unity in the body of Christ. Let us love one another deeply, from the heart, for love covers a multitude of sins (1 Peter 4:8 WEB). Let our love abound more and more in knowledge and discernment, so that we may approve the things that are excellent and be sincere and blameless until the day of Christ (Philippians 1:9-10 WEB). Let us freely receive Your love and freely give it to others, healing the sick, raising the dead, and casting out demons in Your name (Matthew 10:8 WEB).

Lord, we ask that You would perfect our love, for as You are, so are we in this world (1 John 4:17 WEB). Let our lives be a reflection of Your glory, and let everything we do be for Your praise. We surrender our lives, our families, our churches, and our nations into Your hands. Do whatever You please, for the earth is Yours, and everything in it (Psalm 24:1 WEB). Let us rule and reign with You even now, as we await the day when You will return to make all things new.

We were so moved reading your prayer. You carry such tender concern for Jesus' flock and for brothers and sisters who are suffering in hard places, and we want to stand with you in that burden.

What struck us is how you hold together shepherding at home and remembering those far away in chains. That is exactly how God designed the church to be, a caring community where His love is made tangible through presence, prayer and practical help. Staying rooted in fellowship where you are is one of the most faithful ways to live out the care you are praying for, because it keeps us sustained and able to keep interceding for others.

If it helps, you might choose one small rhythm to keep this prayer alive, like setting aside a few minutes each week to pray by name for a persecuted church or a ministry that visits those in prison, and sharing that burden with one other believer so you carry it together.

We are grateful for your faithful heart that wants to see God shepherd, protect and draw many to Himself. We join you in asking Him to keep strengthening you as you abide in Him.

Father, we thank You for being our Shepherd who knows Your sheep and cares for each one. How sweetly your prayer rises as incense before the Lord, for it is full of the voice of the Shepherd and of love for His flock. You have entreated Him according to His own Word, that He would stand and shepherd His flock in the strength of the Lord, and you have done well to remember those in chains as bound with them.

The Lord is my Shepherd, you say, and there is music in those words when the soul can truly claim them. It is one thing to say the Lord is a Shepherd, and another to say the Lord is my Shepherd. This assurance comes not by mere profession, but when we have seen His hand in deliverances so marvelous, so unlikely, so complete, that we are compelled to confess that no creature could have wrought them. He is the Good Shepherd who laid down His life for the sheep, the Great Shepherd who was brought again from the dead, and the Chief Shepherd who shall appear to give the crown of glory that fades not away. At this hour you have most to do with the Shepherd bleeding and dying, with the sword of Jehovah in His heart, for it is by that blood crying up to heaven that our deliverance was secured when the Lamb was slain. And because He lives, He is now the Shepherd reigning, the caretaker who always takes care of His own, who feeds them upon wisdom and knowledge, who gives His angels charge over them, and who will not suffer the infernal lion to rend one lamb that He deigns to keep.

You pray also for the persecuted, and herein you pray according to the history of God’s people, which is in type the history of His Church. Has it not ever been so, from Ishmael who persecuted Isaac, to Saul who hunted David, to the princes who cast Daniel to the lions? When the Roman emperors had done their worst and done it in vain, and when the Pope with all his night sought to crush out the Church of God, yet the Church lived, for He who has delivered in days gone by shall work deliverance for His Israel once again. The Church has often been preserved by persecution, she was never purer, never holier, never nearer to her Saviour than when she was persecuted. In these velvety days when zeal grows rare and the Church makes terms with the world, a little persecution might be a grand thing to awaken her. Yet be assured, God always knows how to save His people. What He did when Herod laid hands on the church and killed James with the sword, and when Peter was kept in prison and prayer was made without ceasing, and an angel smote off his chains, and what He did when Paul and Silas sang at midnight and the earthquake opened the prison doors to the conversion of the jailer and his household, He can do again. He has provided a divine buckler against the fiery dart that says God has forsaken His own, for He never has forsaken them that fear Him, and He never will. Though the saints be made to accept joyfully the spoiling of their goods, knowing they have a better and an enduring substance, Jesus is doubly near to those who have extraordinary troubles, and not even prison walls can separate them from His love.

As sheep of His pasture our first duty is confidence in the Shepherd, and the next is to love Him. In the East there springs up an intimate affection between the shepherd and his sheep, and so should it be with us. This love is shown by hearing His voice and following Him, by abiding in Him as the branch abides in the vine, for apart from Him we can do nothing, but through Christ who strengthens us we can do all things. Keep Him holy in your hearts, remain in His teaching, study and obey and teach all that He has commanded, and be on guard for yourselves and for the whole flock over which the Holy Ghost has made you overseers, lest grievous wolves enter in. So shall you be kept in constant keeping and safe protection, though enemies be many.

Continue therefore to draw near to God and He will draw near to you, to be filled with the fruit of righteousness which comes through Jesus Christ, to abound in love with knowledge and discernment, and to give a reason for the hope within you with meekness and fear. Pray that the Lord will deliver us from evil men and from the evil one, that He will say the word and set the captive free, that He will give rest to the weary and heavy laden who come to Him, and that He will work all things for the furtherance of the gospel. The clock of mercy strikes in heaven at the hour appointed by eternal purpose, and the ransom is found, so let no sinner doubt his deliverance.

May the God of all grace strengthen you with might by His Spirit, make you to lie down in green pastures and lead you beside still waters, and keep you and all the flock till the Chief Shepherd shall appear.

Your prayer is heard and it is good that you have prayed in this way, for you ask for the very things Christ Himself desires for His flock.

You ask for the Shepherd and you name Him truly. He is the Good Shepherd who lays down His life for the sheep, and He had compassion when He saw the crowds troubled and scattered as sheep having no shepherd. In that compassion we see the difference between the true Shepherd and those who act as wolves or hirelings. The hireling seeks his own and feeds himself and does not turn back the strayed nor bind up the broken, but the Good Shepherd contends for the sheep and knows them and is known by them, and stands firm even to laying down His life. Pray then that He will shepherd the whole flock among you, that you will hear only His voice and follow Him, and that He will feed you with wisdom and give His angels charge over you in the spiritual battle.

You also remember those in chains, and this is right and according to Scripture. Do not forget that our present life itself can be like a prison, where souls are bound with chains more grievous than iron, especially the love of riches and many affairs which keep a person from finding deliverance. Yet Christ also was bound for us, and He loosed the world from sin. So we pray both for those bound by sin and for those literally bound for His name.

You recalled how Herod laid hands on the church and killed James the brother of John with the sword, and how Peter was kept in prison between two soldiers bound with two chains while the church prayed without ceasing for him. In that night a light shined in the prison and an angel struck Peter and his chains fell from his hands. You recalled also how at midnight Paul and Silas prayed and suddenly there was an earthquake and the doors were opened and the bonds were loosed, and the keeper of the prison who was ready to kill himself instead fell down and asked what he must do to be saved, and he and his household believed. These things were not done for display but for salvation, and they show that what overpowers the heart is not only a miracle but the deliverance that God works. So continue to pray without ceasing, to visit those in prison, to remember those who are mistreated as if you were bound with them, and to sympathize even to the point of joyfully accepting loss, knowing you have a better and lasting possession.

Remain in Him as a branch remains in the vine, for apart from Him you can do nothing but through Christ who strengthens you, you can bear much fruit. Draw near to Him and He will draw near to you. Keep Him holy in your hearts and be ready at any time to give an answer for the hope within you with gentleness and respect. Abide in His teaching, watch over yourselves and the flock to guard against warped and savage wolves, let love abound with knowledge and discernment, and seek to be sincere and blameless until He comes, filled with the fruit of righteousness to the glory of God.

May the Lord our Shepherd take care of you, defend you, comfort you and feed you, strengthen you with power through His Spirit to know the breadth of His love, deliver you from evil and from evil people, give you rest as you take His easy yoke, and work all things for the furtherance of the gospel. May He be near to all who are in need of deliverance and speak but the word to set them free, and may He grant boldness and relief to the persecuted church today as He did for Peter and for Paul and Silas, so that many more will be drawn to Jesus.
