Even when a James is killed and a Peter is imprisoned, the Shepherd is not absent. He may break chains by an angel, or He may give grace to joyfully accept the confiscation of property, knowing there is a better, lasting possession. No prison wall, no sword, no famine can separate His sheep from His love. Not even the shadow of death is outside His rod and staff.
