Jesus, Shepherd Your Sheep Micah 5:4, John 10:16, Jn 21:16, 1 Pet 5:2-4, Rev 7:17; ‍ Remember those in Chains, Hebrews 13:3, Col 4:18 -- Lord Jesus, thank YouYou are The LORD our Shepherd, Ps 23:1-6. You are The Good Shepherd that lay down Your life for us, Your sheep, John 10:11. Thank You that not only do Your Sheep hear Your voice, Jn 10:27, but that You lead them out, and we don't listen to others, John 10:3-4, but only head Your voice and follow You, John 10:27, but that You care for us, Ps 23:3 Isa 40:11, Ezek 34:15, Rev 7:17. Take care of us, defend us, comfort and feed us on wisdom and knowledge, Give Your angels charge over us and our fellow believers in spiritual battles, Ps 91:9-16, Heb 1:14. Strengthen our brothers and sisters, even shepherd the entire flock of God among us, 1 Pet 5:2, help us be on guard for ourselves and the flock of God among us from evil and warped wolves, Acts 20:28-29, by abiding in You and Your teaching, John 15:1-9, studying, obeying and teaching obedience to all Jesus commanded, Matt 28:20. Strengthen us and all in the faith with power and might through the Holy Spirit to know the dimensions of Your love, Eph 3:14-18. Be near those who are in need of deliverance, setting us free by just saying the Word, Matt 8:8, and draw us and all around us to Jesus. Especially draw those weary and heavy laden, that You might give them rest, Your yoke is easy and burden is light, so they find rest for their souls, Matt 11:28-30. Work everything out for the furtherance of the gospel, Phil 1:12.

Grant relief to the persecuted church like You did when the evil king began by laying hands on some who belonged to the church in order to mistreat them, had the Apostle James the brother of John the Beloved put to death with the sword, Acts 12:1-2, and give us testimonies like we have of the Apostle Peter's angelic release from prison in Acts 12:3-17 and the Apostles Paul and Silas' earthquake resulting in the conversion of the Philippian Jailer and his household in Acts 16:27-32. Hebrews 10:34. Help us sympathize with those in prison and joyfully accept the confiscation property, knowing that we ourselves have a better and permanent possession, Hebrews 10:34. Call and grant boldness give them visits, as Jesus said in Matthew 25:36, "I was naked and you clothed Me, I was sick and you looked after Me, I was in prison and you visited Me." Be their Shepherd even in those situations, Rom 8:38-39.

Give grace to us all to purposely draw near to You, so You draw near to us, James 4:8. You are the vine, we are the branches; the one who remains in You, and You in them bears much fruit for apart from You we can do nothing, Jn 15:5. We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us, Phil 4:13. Help us keep You holy in our hearts so as to be ready in season and out of season (at any time in any circumstance) to give an answer for the hope within us, with respect, 2 Tim 2:25, so ungodliness glorifies God that it had a good witness before You returned, 1 Pet 3:15-16. Deliver us from evil people and the evil one, temptation and sin. 2 Thes 3:2-3, Matt 6:13, Luke 11:4, John 17:15. Let love abound more in knowledge and discernment so we can choose the best in every situation that gives us a choice, so we may be sincere and blameless until Your Son's return, being filled with the fruit of righteousness, which comes from union with Jesus Christ to the glory and praise of God, Phil 1:9-11. Let us freely receive Your abundant love and freely give it to others, healing the sick, raising the dead, and casting out demons, Matt 10:8. Not unto us, but to Your Name give glory, do whatever You please, but as the Earth You have given to the sons of men, help us rule in part with You even now, Ps 115:1-18. Perfect our love, for as You are, so also are we in this world, 1 John 4:17. Thank You in Jesus' Name.

We lift our voices together in unity, praising the Lord our Shepherd who tenderly cares for His flock. Your prayer resonates deeply with our hearts as we stand in agreement, declaring the truth of God’s Word over every situation you’ve presented.

He is indeed the Good Shepherd who lays down His life for the sheep (John 10:11), the One who leads us beside still waters and restores our souls (Psalm 23:2-3). We pray that every weary and heavy-laden soul would hear His voice and find rest in His easy yoke (Matthew 11:28-30). Father, we ask that You would strengthen the persecuted church, remembering those in chains as if bound with them (Hebrews 13:3). Rise up, O Lord, and grant miraculous deliverance as You did for Peter in Acts 12 and Paul and Silas in Acts 16. Let Your glory shine through their suffering, turning chains into testimonies and prisons into pulpits for Your name.

We rebuke the spirit of fear and oppression that seeks to silence Your people. By the authority of Jesus’ name, we declare that no weapon formed against Your church shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). Grant boldness to believers facing persecution, that they may proclaim Christ without fear (Philippians 1:14). Stir the hearts of Your people worldwide to remember and support them, visiting the imprisoned, clothing the naked, and standing in the gap through prayer and action (Matthew 25:36).

Lord, we also pray for the purity and holiness of Your flock. Draw us near to You, that we may abide in You as branches in the Vine, bearing much fruit (John 15:5). Cleanse us from all unrighteousness, that we may be ready to give an answer for the hope within us with gentleness and respect (1 Peter 3:15). Guard our hearts against the schemes of the evil one, and deliver us from temptation (Matthew 6:13). Let our love abound in knowledge and discernment, that we may approve what is excellent and be filled with the fruit of righteousness (Philippians 1:9-11).

We declare that apart from You, we can do nothing, but through Christ who strengthens us, we can do all things (Philippians 4:13). Perfect our love, Lord, that as You are, so may we be in this world (1 John 4:17). May we freely receive Your love and freely give it, healing the sick, raising the dead, and casting out demons in Your name (Matthew 10:8). Let all glory be to You alone, for You are worthy of all praise, honor, and dominion forever and ever.

We pray these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we are saved (Acts 4:12). Without Him, we have no access to the Father, no forgiveness of sins, and no hope of eternal life. If anyone reading this has not surrendered their life to Jesus, we urge you to repent and believe in Him today. Confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, and you will be saved (Romans 10:9). There is no other way to the Father but through Him (John 14:6).

Your prayer rises like the incense of the golden altar, laden with the fragrance of the Shepherd’s own Word. You have called upon the Lord as the Shepherd of His sheep, and it is well. The saints in every age have found their solace in this: "The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want." But it is easy to say this when all is green pastures; the trial is to say it when the valley is dark, and the wolf is near. Yet faith must hold, for our first duty as sheep is confidence in the Shepherd, and next, we must love our Shepherd. There springs up an intimate affection between the Shepherd and His sheep, born of His tender care and our utter dependence.

You cry for deliverance for those in bonds. Think of that deliverance from Egypt: He brought them forth with silver and gold, and there was not one feeble among their tribes. But mark this, the deliverance came when the lamb was slain. So now, our Deliverer has been slain, and from His sacrifice flows all relief for His persecuted ones. He makes their deliverance effectual; He will bring them forth. Have we not seen it in our own day? The enemy arises, and the Church, like Jabbok’s wrestler, cries out in fear, but then meets the brother with a kiss. Yet, strange mercy, that a touch of persecution would do some of us good. It drives the Christian nearer to his God. How many prayers have been offered as the result of the world’s scorn that would never have been offered else! The enmity of the world keeps the separation between the Church and the world, and God has blessed the Church by her persecution. I would not wish it on any, but I am persuaded it would wake some from slumber.

You have set before us the Good Shepherd, the Great Shepherd, the Chief Shepherd. Hold fast to these. He is the Good Shepherd in His death, the Abel-Shepherd with the sword in His heart, bleeding for sinners. You must deal with Him there first, guilty soul, before you know Him as the toiling Shepherd or the reigning Shepherd. Then He is the Great Shepherd, brought again from the dead, leading His flock with power. And He shall be the Chief Shepherd when He appears, and you shall receive the unfading crown of glory. He is no half-shepherd; He is the Substance of every shadow. All the possibilities that lie in a shepherd are found in Christ. He knows His own, and His own know Him, even as the Father knows the Son. That is a deep, unfathomable truth for your soul to rest upon.

You ask for nearness, that you might abide in the Vine. That is the essence of it all: apart from Him, nothing; in Him, all things. So draw near with confidence. The Shepherd carries the lambs in His bosom, what a soft place to ride! How the warmth of His heart cheers His own! The devil must destroy your Shepherd before he can slay you. Therefore, let love abound, let boldness rise, let your song be of deliverance. Go to the mercy-seat, for that is His abiding-place. He has not shut His ear; cry to Him, and your ruin is impossible. He will shepherd the whole flock, strengthening the weak, visiting the prisoners, and giving you a better and permanent possession. So be of good courage, and let your every breath be this: "The Lord is my Shepherd."

The Shepherd who laid down His life for the sheep sees the wolves even now circling His flock. You have asked for His care, and rightly so, for no sheep survives without the Shepherd's vigilance. Yet consider this: when the Shepherd permits the wolves to draw near, it is not neglect but training for the flock. You pray for deliverance like Peter's release from prison, but pause and ask why the same sword that killed James was stayed for Peter. One was taken to glory, the other preserved for further labor. Both were shepherded perfectly, though by different paths. The Good Shepherd does not spare every threat, but He transforms every threat into either a testimony or a crown. Stephen was stoned and the church scattered, yet where did the scattered sheep go but into all Judea and Samaria, carrying the Shepherd's voice with them? The persecution you remember became the planting. So do not fear the chains, but fear that those in chains might be abandoned by our prayers and our boldness. You have remembered them rightly, for it is the table of the Lord we approach when we visit them, and it is Christ we clothe when we cover their nakedness.

You also ask for power against the evil one and for freedom from sin. Here is the wrestling school. The athlete who trains against an empty sack of sand does not gain the prize, but the one who grapples a living opponent learns the skill that overcomes. Every temptation you face is that living opponent, permitted so you would not grow soft. If we had no battles and no afflictions, we would be softer than wax. But when the conflict presses, call upon that confession which David made when he said, "I the shepherd have sinned." Lay hold of humility, for the righteous is his own accuser first, and in that confession the wrath is stayed. Do not think your deliverance must come by angels and earthquakes alone; it comes also when you take responsibility for the flock, when you say as David did, "Let Thine hand be upon me," and when you bear with the stripes as a contender before witnesses.

As for your longing to draw near to God and to abound in love: you ask well, for nothing makes us so ready a dwelling for the Spirit as the strength of love. But love is proven not in receiving but in suffering, not in peace but in trouble. Consider how they of old were daily led to execution, teachers and disciples alike, bearing stripes and brandings, and yet were in greater luxury than those who abide in Paradise. They loved, and therefore they did not flee the danger to their own souls. They loved, and therefore they sought the profit of many rather than their own safety. This is the path. Walk by the Spirit then, and do not fulfill the lust of the flesh that cries out for comfort above faithfulness. The Spirit will not run from the prison or the slander or the tempter; the Spirit stands and overcomes.

You ask to be strengthened with power to know the dimensions of Christ's love. Then know this: His love for you is measured by the cross, and your love for Him will be measured by how you carry your own. If He sets you free by a word, bless Him. If He delays deliverance, trust that even now a jailer's household waits to be saved. In every situation, choose love that abounds in knowledge and discernment. Give freely what you have freely received, not seeking your own glory, for it is not unto us but to His Name. Continue to pray, continue to intercede for those in bonds, and continue to expect that the Shepherd who bought the flock with His blood will not lose even one of His own to the wolves. Their rage cannot snatch what He holds. Stand fast.
