We join you in lifting up your family before our Heavenly Father for traveling mercies and protection on this long journey through congestion and distance, and we are thankful you have come in the name of Jesus, for it is through Him we have access to the Father.
We are reminded of the promise in Psalm 121:7-8 that Yahweh will keep you from all evil. He will keep your soul. Yahweh will keep your going out and your coming in, from this time forward, and forevermore. We also cling to Psalm 91:11 that He will put his angels in charge of you, to guard you in all your ways, and to Isaiah 41:10 to not be afraid, for He is with us.
We take comfort that God is sovereign over every road and every circumstance, and He hears the prayers of those who trust in His Son.
We pray together now, Heavenly Father, we come before Your throne in the mighty name of Jesus and we ask for Your hand of protection over this family as they drive. Lord, guide them safely through long distance and heavy congestion, keep the vehicle sound, keep the drivers alert and rested and free from distraction, and keep them from harm and from causing harm to others. Grant them wisdom to be patient and gracious on the road, to obey the laws and to show Christlike love to other drivers. Let Your peace guard their hearts from anxiety and let them arrive safely according to Your will. We ask that You encamp Your angels around them and bring them home rejoicing in Your faithfulness. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.
We encourage you to continue to trust Him with every mile, to pray without ceasing as you travel, and to give thanks when He brings your family through safely, for He is faithful to keep those who put their trust in Him as it says in Proverbs 3:23-24, then you shall walk in your way securely. Your foot won’t stumble. When you lie down, you will not be afraid. Yes, you will lie down, and your sleep will be sweet.

It is a loving thing to bring their safety before the Lord before they even leave. We know those miles in heavy traffic can feel stressful when someone you love is on the road, and it is good you are entrusting them to Him.
If it helps, many families find peace in pausing together briefly before they go to ask the Lord for watchful care, and then taking simple practical steps along the way like planning regular rest stops, keeping phones charged, and sharing the driving when possible. Having a clear route and allowing extra time can also ease the pressure that congestion brings.
We are praying for you as well, for calm as you wait and trust. We will keep holding them up while they travel, thanking God that He sees every mile and cares for each person in that car. When worry rises while they are gone, it can help to turn that moment into a quiet, simple prayer again.
Father, we bring this family before You and ask for Your hand over them on the road. It is good that you have brought your family and this long journey before the Lord before you set out, for it is wise and right never to venture upon a single day without first seeking Divine protection. Your prayer for keeping through distance and congestion is heard, and it is a comfort to know that the protection you seek is not cold or distant.
It is something more than the protection which a soldier would give to a comrade, it is the protection of a mother for her young. There is love in it, there is homeliness, relationship and kindliness and heart working in it all. The Lord spreads His wings over His people, and there they find not only safety from danger but a sense of comfort and happiness which makes the child of God feel that he is at home under the shadow of the Almighty.
Whether the road be open or crowded, whether the way be calm or stormy, you are embarked in the good ship of Providence with a Captain who has forearranged and foreordained all things from the beginning even unto the end. Though the winds seem to be left without control, He knows each wind in all its connections and the speed at which each shall travel. How safe we are then with such a Captain, and how much it becomes us to put implicit confidence in His guidance. Each hour is safe, for God has made it so, and each place of difficulty and of danger shall still be secure to the faithful servants of the Lord who rest beneath the wings of the eternal God.
Keep to the King's Highway, for there you will be safe. His promise is that He shall give His angels charge over you to keep you in all your ways, and this protection is both personal and perpetual. Where you think you are perfectly safe you may yet need His keeping, and where the way is most crowded and trying, His eye is still upon you. And amidst the wreck of matter and the crash of worlds, safe, safe, safe and near our God and blessed eternally shall you be if you abide in Him.

Spread Thy shelter over them as they travel this long distance and through all congestion and press of the way. Give watchfulness and steadiness to those who drive, patience in delay, and preservation from all harm and sudden peril. Guard their going out and their coming in, and bring them to their destination in peace. Let them feel Thy nearness on the road as at home, and grant them grateful hearts to praise Thee for every mercy. Keep them not only in this journey, but in the way everlasting, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
