Your brief cry, Jesus help, is itself that kind of brief, silent prayer which the Lord delights to hear. Like Nehemiah before the king, who prayed to the God of Heaven without a sound or outward sign, you may breathe a prayer between the duties of the day and say Lord help me, Lord keep me, and Heaven hears it though no man knows you have prayed.
We join you in thanksgiving for grace, for all is of Divine Grace from first to last. The gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord, and it is a gift and not a prize, not put up for auction nor set forth for sale. It is freely given, not of him that wills nor of him that runs, but of God that shows mercy. There is no merit in us to deserve it, and genius and learning cannot attain it, yet the lowly and the poor may receive it with ease, for it is received through Grace and understood by Grace.
Be encouraged that where sin abounded grace did much more abound. Grace reigns even in the midst of infirmity and affliction, and the whole road from sin's pit to Heaven's gate is paved with Divine Grace. If you are trusting in Christ alone for salvation, you are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, freely because there is no price to be paid for it, and by His grace because it is not of our deservings.
We bring your silent requests now before the throne of grace. Though unspoken to us, they are seen by Him who has seen your ways and who pours His grace upon the undeserving. May the Lord who gives grace to those who seek it, and who first bestows unsought grace that we may seek at all, grant you according to His sovereign mercy. May He give you help and strength and succor for every work and trial, and may you find that His grace not only pardons but restrains, sustains and keeps you, and at last presents you faultless before His glory.
We pray that you will continue to look up to the God of our salvation for all you need, and that you will live to show how grace abounds in you, to the praise of Him who alone is the Author of grace. Amen.
