May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Prayer Focus: God, Thank You for loving me. Thank You for loving me, Jesus. God, I ask You in Jesus’ name please bless me with everything that I stand in need of and everything You want me to have. God bless me to prosper, walk in excellent health, and never stop growing in the love, grace, wisdom, and knowledge of Christ Jesus. God bless me to know You in truth, fall in love with You with all my heart, mind, soul, body, and strength and never fall out of love with You. God, bless me to have an ever growing closer stronger, more intimate relationship with You. Bless me with the love, desire, strength, and the spirit of obedience to always delight myself in You, seek first Your kingdom, Your righteousness, and to always respect and obey You. Bless me to know You, so that I can trust You with all my heart, acknowledge You in all my ways, and lean not to my own understanding. Bless me with knowledge, wisdom, and understanding in all You have called me to do.

God heal me in every area of my life. Deliver and cleanse me of everything in my life that doesn't honor You. Transform and renew my mind. Bless me with love, power, and a sound mind. Let the mind that is in Christ Jesus be in me. Bless me to have and operate with a God-conscious-solution-focused-heart-mind-spirit-and-attitude. Bless me to have a God Kingdom Culture Mentality. God be with me as a mighty warrior. Let no weapon formed against me prosper. Protect me from all the plans of my enemies and the plans of the enemy of my soul. God, all that I have asked of You, in this prayer, please do the same for the writer of the prayer, all those who love and care about me, and all those I love and care about. You speak of quitting drink this morning and laying down your long-battled sins before God, and your thanksgiving rises like a sweet savor. Yet I take pause at a quiet line slipped into your prayer, that you will no longer ask Him for help with certain unnamed struggles. My soul grows wary at such words. To cease asking is the first step toward trusting in your own strength again, and the drowning man who stops crying out will sink. The Scripture does not teach us to outgrow our dependence but to deepen it, for the superabundance of grace flows exactly where sin abounded. He does not merely free the fevered man from his sickness but gives him beauty, strength, and high rank. Why would you stop short of the full gift by falling silent about your need?

You have tasted deliverance from cigarettes and now reach for freedom from the bottle. That is well. But the greater work is not only to be loosed from a visible chain but to have the inward tyranny broken. Some whom the world counts strong refused deliverance from death itself, looking for a better resurrection. They chose to die rather than to live on easy terms, because they fixed their eyes on a life beyond this one. You say it has been tough and that you understand His beautiful world now after many years. Be on guard then, gratitude for past mercies must not lull you into imagining you can now stand without pleading. The faithful are those who knock every day, not those who thank the Physician once and then dismiss themselves from His care.

The sacrifices of the old covenant were offered endlessly because they could not truly cleanse. Their very repetition was evidence of weakness. But Christ was offered once, and that one offering has power to perfect forever those who are being sanctified. Do you see? You are not called to a life of white-knuckled resolve, finally getting your vices in order by a book and a prayer. You are called to cling to the finished work of Jesus and the Spirit of adoption that cries out from within you. If you stop asking, you drift back toward the gall of bitterness that can poison even a thankful heart. Simon the sorcerer saw the Spirit given and tried to seize it by his own scheme, and Peter discerned that his heart was not right before God. So I bid you examine your heart: this desire to stop asking for help, is it humility or pride dressed in resignation?

Remain a beggar at the gate. That is not weakness; it is the only posture of the sons of God in this age. The Apostle Paul was burdened beyond strength and learned not to trust in himself but in the God who raises the dead. You are a husband, a father, a worker, good. Be a better one by bringing every hidden and persistent trouble to the throne daily. Pass along the help you have received, as you said. But do not stop asking for more yourself. He who gave you courage to quit smoking will give you what you need tomorrow, yet He waits for the voice of faith. So come boldly and keep coming, that your thanksgiving may always be wet with the tears of present need.

Your words carry the unmistakable sound of a heart set free, and that is something to give thanks for. Five years ago you discovered that the grip of one substance could be broken, and now you are stepping into the same promise with another. What you are doing this morning is not simply putting down a drink; it is an act of worship, a living sacrifice in response to the mercy God has shown you.

Scripture is honest about how strong drink works. It numbs, it distorts judgment, and it can whisper lies that keep a person bound. The wise man wrote that wine is a mocker, strong drink a brawler, and whoever is led astray by it is not wise. You have seen that for yourself, and you have recognized the danger. But wisdom also shows that the power that breaks every chain is the living Word of God. When the enemy pressed hard on Jesus in the wilderness, His defense was not a program or a sheer act of will. It was the Word hidden in His heart. That same Word, treasured and recalled, becomes the secret of strength. As the psalmist said, “Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You.”

The craving of your body is real, but the Spirit within you is greater. John the Baptist was filled with the Holy Spirit from his mother’s womb, and the mark of that filling was a life set apart, no wine, no strong drink, but a vessel for a holy purpose. You are called to that same sobriety, not as a heavy rule but as a wide-open freedom to think clearly, to love genuinely, and to stand ready for every good work. Staying alert, clear-minded, and self-controlled allows you to be the husband, father, and worker you long to be.

Do not be surprised if the battle flares up. The world around us is saturated with indulgence, much like the days of Noah, when eating and drinking numbed people to what really mattered. But your gratitude tells me you already know something deeper: you have been given a good life, a faithful wife, meaningful work, and the sheer beauty of a God-made world. You have tasted that the Lord is good, and you want others to taste it too. That holy desire to pass it on, to help another person and to point them not to yourself but to Jesus Christ, that is the fruit of a life already being transformed.

So stand firm. Hide His words in your heart each day. Let the Holy Spirit fill every empty place that alcohol once occupied. And when the tempter comes, answer with what is written, just as your Lord did. You are not struggling for victory; you are standing from the victory Christ has already won for you. Keep walking in that light.
