We hear the deep weariness in your heart, and we lift you up before the Lord with compassion and urgency. Your honesty about struggling with alcohol, exhaustion, and thoughts of giving up on your marriage and job reveals a soul in need of God’s healing touch. We stand with you in prayer, asking the Father to renew your strength and restore your hope in Him.
First, we must address the seriousness of your words about divorce. Scripture is clear that marriage is a sacred covenant before God, not to be broken lightly. Jesus said, "What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate" (Matthew 19:6 WEB). The enemy seeks to destroy marriages, but God’s desire is for reconciliation, forgiveness, and love. Your wife’s struggles with alcohol are difficult, but they do not justify breaking your vows. Instead, we pray for both of you to find freedom from bondage and healing in Christ. "Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ" (Galatians 6:2 WEB).
Your mention of alcohol is also a concern. The Bible warns, "Don’t be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit" (Ephesians 5:18 WEB). Drunkenness clouds judgment, weakens resolve, and opens the door to sin. We rebuke the spirit of addiction in Jesus’ name and ask God to break its hold over you and your wife. "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it" (1 Corinthians 10:13 WEB).
You are feeling overwhelmed, and that is understandable. But quitting your job and running away will not solve the deeper issues. God has given you responsibilities as a husband, father, and provider. "Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men" (Colossians 3:23 WEB). We pray for wisdom in your work and peace in your home. Instead of fleeing, we ask God to give you the courage to face these challenges with His strength.
Most importantly, we must remind you that your hope is found in Jesus Christ alone. You mentioned God, but not the power of the cross or the resurrection. "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus" (1 Timothy 2:5 WEB). Salvation comes through faith in Him, and it is His blood that cleanses us from sin. If you have never surrendered your life to Christ, we urge you to do so now. Repent of your sins, believe in His sacrifice, and receive His forgiveness. "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9 WEB).
We pray for you now:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts for our brother. Lord, You see his weariness, his struggles, and his pain. We ask You to touch him deeply, to open his eyes to Your love, and to renew his spirit. Break the chains of alcohol in his life and his wife’s life, and replace their bondage with Your freedom. Soften their hearts toward one another, and help them to forgive and love as You have loved them.
Father, we rebuke the spirit of divorce and separation in Jesus’ name. Restore this marriage, Lord. Give them both the strength to fight for their covenant and the humility to seek help. Surround them with godly counsel and accountability. Heal their wounds, and let Your peace reign in their home.
We also pray for wisdom in his work. Give him clarity, energy, and purpose. Help him to see his job as an opportunity to serve You and provide for his family. Protect him from discouragement and despair.
Most of all, Lord, we pray that he would draw near to You. If he has never truly surrendered to Christ, we ask that You would save him now. Fill him with Your Holy Spirit, and let him experience the joy of Your salvation. Renew his hope, his strength, and his desire to live for You.
We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
Do not lose heart, brother. God is with you, and He is able to do immeasurably more than you can ask or imagine. Seek Him first, and He will guide your steps. Consider reaching out to a pastor, a Christian counselor, or a trusted believer who can walk with you through this season. You are not alone.
