Jesus Christ please help me

Servant of All
Dear God please help me and my wife because we both drink too much alcohol and now she wants to talk about how I drink too much alcohol even though she too drinks too much alcohol and I am afraid to talk to her because I don't want to say anything mean to her I just want to be left alone and to lay down on my bed and drink my ### and ### and pretend that it's going to be okay. Please help me sleep well tonight and to get lots of rest and to be able to go to work tomorrow morning and to get my projects and proposals and my invoices done correctly and on time. Please soften the hearts of my wife and my bosses and my coworkers and my customers. Please help my wife to be quiet and to leave me alone. I'm so sorry that we aren't nicer to each other. She is downstairs blabbing to me and I know that if I talk to her it's not going to be ok for me. Please forgive me for not being a better husband and a better employee and a better man. Amen

We hear your cry for help, and we want you to know that we are lifting you, your wife, and your marriage up in prayer before the throne of grace. First, we must acknowledge that you have come to the right place by calling on the name of Jesus Christ. There is power in His name, and it is only through Him that true transformation and healing can occur. As it is written in Acts 4:12, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"

Your struggle with alcohol is not just a personal battle but one that is affecting your marriage, your work, and your relationship with God. The Bible warns us about the dangers of being controlled by anything other than the Holy Spirit. In Ephesians 5:18, we are told, "Don’t be drunken with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit." Alcohol, when misused, can lead to dissipation—wastefulness, lack of self-control, and broken relationships. It is clear that this has taken a toll on both you and your wife, and it is time to surrender this struggle to Jesus.

We must also address the state of your marriage. The fact that you are both drinking excessively and struggling to communicate in love is a sign that your marriage is not reflecting the unity and peace that God intends. Proverbs 20:1 says, "Wine is a mocker, and beer is a brawler. Whoever is led astray by them is not wise." Alcohol is not the solution to your problems; it is a stumbling block that is preventing you from facing the issues in your marriage with clarity and godly wisdom. We rebuke the spirit of addiction and the spirit of strife in your home in the name of Jesus. We declare that your marriage is redeemed by the blood of Christ, and we pray for restoration and healing.

You mentioned that you are afraid to talk to your wife because you don’t want to say anything mean. This fear is understandable, but avoidance is not the answer. Ephesians 4:29 tells us, "Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but such as is good for building up as the need may be, that it may give grace to those who hear." Instead of withdrawing, we encourage you to approach your wife with humility and a willingness to listen. Proverbs 15:1 says, "A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger." Pray together, seek counseling, and invite the Holy Spirit to guide your conversations. You cannot do this alone, but with God, all things are possible.

We also want to address your request for peace and rest. While it is understandable that you want to escape the tension in your home, true peace and rest can only be found in Jesus. Matthew 11:28-29 says, "Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you will find rest for your souls." We pray that you will find your rest in Him, not in alcohol or isolation.

Now, let us pray for you and your wife:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We lift up this brother and his wife to You, asking for Your mercy, grace, and healing to flood their lives. Lord, we confess that alcohol has taken a hold of them, and it is not Your will for their lives. We rebuke the spirit of addiction and declare freedom in the name of Jesus. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, Lord, so that they may walk in self-control and wisdom.

Father, we pray for their marriage. Soften their hearts toward one another and help them to communicate with love and respect. Teach them to bear with one another in patience and to seek Your face together. Lord, we ask that You would restore the love and unity that has been broken. Help them to forgive one another and to move forward in Your grace.

We also pray for this brother’s work. Give him the strength and focus he needs to complete his tasks with excellence. Soften the hearts of his bosses, coworkers, and customers, Lord, and let Your favor rest upon him. Help him to be a light in his workplace, reflecting Your love and integrity.

Father, we ask that You would give him true rest tonight. Calm his mind and his spirit, and let him sleep peacefully, knowing that You are in control. Help him to wake up refreshed and ready to face the day with a renewed sense of purpose.

Lord, we thank You for the honesty and vulnerability in this prayer request. We know that You are faithful to complete the work You have begun in them. Draw them closer to You, and let them experience the fullness of life that can only be found in You.

In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to take the first step toward healing by reaching out to a pastor, a Christian counselor, or a support group like Celebrate Recovery. You do not have to walk this journey alone. God is with you, and He is able to do immeasurably more than you can ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20). Trust in Him, and let Him lead you into a life of freedom and restoration.

We're here with you, brother. We understand that talking about alcohol addiction can be tough, but remember, you're not alone. Jesus is right there with you, and He's got this.

We're praying for you and your wife. We're asking God to give you both the strength to face this together, with love and understanding. We're believing for a miracle of healing and restoration in your marriage. We're also praying for peace and wisdom as you navigate this journey.

We're here to support you, just as we're all supported by God's love. Let's trust in Him, one step at a time. You're not alone, and there's always hope in Jesus.

Pray for the Holy Spirit to surround your household and guide you both. I prayed with you in Jesus' powerful Name, amen.
