Dear God please help me. Please give me the courage and the strength to let go of alcohol. I don't like the way that I feel during and especially after I drink alcohol. I don't want to do it anymore. Please help me be a better husband and a better dad to our adult kid's and a better person and a better employee to help the company that I work for. Please help me get my projects and proposals done correctly and on time. Please help my wife and my son to drink less alcohol and smoke less cigarettes and for my son to not smoke pot anymore. Please help us. Please help our adult daughter with her needs. Thank you for helping me.

We join with you in this honest and humble cry to the Lord and we thank God that you have called upon the name of Jesus Christ, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and find deliverance and strength. We praise God for your desire to turn away from alcohol and to be the godly husband and father He has called you to be, and we stand with you seeking His will together in Jesus' name.

We hear your burden about alcohol and the way it makes you feel during and after drinking, and we know God hears you as well. His Word says Wine is a mocker and beer is a brawler. Whoever is led astray by them is not wise Proverbs 20:1 and also Do not be drunken with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit Ephesians 5:18. Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit and God wants you to honor Him with it as it is written Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's 1 Corinthians 6:19-20. This desire you have to let go is from God Himself and He will give you the courage and strength you are asking for. We encourage you to walk in daily dependence on Him, to remove temptations where you can, to seek godly accountability through your pastor or a trusted brother in Christ, and to be filled with the Word and prayer instead of wine. Remember the promise No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it 1 Corinthians 10:13 and I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me Philippians 4:13.

We also lift up your desire to be a better husband to your wife, a better dad to your adult children, a better person and a faithful employee. God honors this heart to serve your family and your employer well. Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men Colossians 3:23. We pray God will give you clarity, discipline and peace as you work on your projects and proposals, that you may do them correctly and on time for His glory.

We join you in praying for your wife and your son, that the Lord would loosen the grip of alcohol and cigarettes upon them, and for your son that he would turn completely from marijuana. We know these things also harm the body and cloud the mind God gave us to serve Him. We pray for your adult daughter as well and ask God to meet her needs according to His riches and wisdom, and to draw each member of your family closer to Himself.

We pray together now. Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ and we thank You for our brother who has humbled himself before You. Lord, we ask You to give him supernatural courage and strength to let go of alcohol completely. Take away the craving and the habit, fill him with Your Holy Spirit, and give him joy and peace that does not come from a bottle. Heal his body and mind from the effects of drinking and make him new day by day. Help him to be the husband and father You have called him to be, loving his wife as Christ loved the church and leading his adult children with godly example, wisdom and love. Help him to be blameless and faithful in his work, to have a clear mind and steady hands to complete his projects and proposals correctly and on time, and to be a light for You in his workplace. Lord we lift up his wife and his son to You, we ask You to convict their hearts and give them also the desire and power to drink less and to turn from cigarettes, and for his son to forsake marijuana entirely. Set them free from every addiction and draw this whole family into deeper fellowship with You. We bring his adult daughter before You and ask You to supply her needs, protect her, and guide her in Your perfect will. Cast all our anxieties on You because You care for us as Your word says Casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you 1 Peter 5:7. We trust You to finish the good work You have started in this family. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior we pray, Amen.

We hear how tired you are of how alcohol makes you feel, and how sincerely you want to live differently for your family and your work. It takes real honesty to name that out loud and to ask God for help, and we are grateful you did.

Wanting to be a better husband and dad and employee is a good and loving desire, and it makes sense that carrying projects and proposals while also wrestling with drinking feels heavy. Change like this is rarely something anyone does alone. Having other people walking with you makes a real difference, whether that is a pastor you trust, a counselor, or a steady recovery group where you can be honest week by week.

One next step that could help is to reach out this week to one safe person for ongoing support and also to your primary care doctor or a counselor to talk openly about your drinking and what support might look like. They can listen and help you think through a plan, alongside prayer not instead of it. If your wife is open to it, letting her know you are taking this step can also invite encouragement at home.

We are also praying for your wife, your son and your daughter as you mentioned, for their health and needs and for wisdom for you as you love them.

Father, we bring our brother before You in Jesus name. Give him courage for each day, strength to turn away when tempted, and grace when he feels weak. Surround him with faithful help, bring healing to his family, and guide his work with clarity and steadiness. Lead him step by step as he seeks You. Amen.

Thank you Heavenly Father for blessing us with another day, and for all you do for all of us. All glory and honor belongs to you Father. Please Heavenly Father grant wisdom and strength to this family. I lift this prayer up on your glory Father God and ask that you grant your perfect will. In Jesus name I pray. Amen

““But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him.”

‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭17‬:‭7‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Your honest and humble cry has been heard, and we thank God for the work He has already begun in your heart. To feel the burden of sin, to loathe the cup that has mastered you, and to desire to be a better husband and father and servant in your daily calling, these are tokens that the Lord is drawing you toward deliverance.

Know this, that deliverance from the power of sin is as much the work of God as deliverance from the guilt of sin. It is not of him that wills, nor of him that runs, but of God that shows mercy. You cannot by your own resolve alone break these chains, and yet you are not without hope, for God Himself has found a ransom. The prisoner ready to be executed finds undeserved deliverance because the King's own Son has borne the penalty. Jesus Christ has come to save, and His blood is the price that sets the captive free. Look to Him, not only for pardon, but for power to overcome.

We rejoice that you have turned your eyes to Him for deliverance, for those eyes have mighty power with Christ. When a child of God in deep distress believes in his Father and steadily looks to Him, the Lord delights to answer. He brought His people forth from bondage when the lamb was slain, and He makes their deliverance effectual. He will do the same for you as you rest your soul upon Him.

While deliverance is of the Lord, He is pleased to accomplish it by means. Therefore walk in the ways of wisdom. Flee the places and occasions that tempt you to drink, cast away that which ensnares you, seek the fellowship of faithful believers who will watch with you and pray with you, and open your heart fully to your pastor or to a trusted brother in Christ. Confess your struggle plainly, ask for prayer and accountability, and let the Word of God dwell richly in you day by day. If the craving presses hard, cry at once to Christ, for He is a familiar Friend, ever near to those who call upon Him.

We join you in prayer for your household. We ask the Lord to give your wife and your son a like hatred for that which harms the body and clouds the mind, to deliver them from cigarettes and strong drink and from every harmful drug, and to draw your son away from that which would steal his sobriety and peace. We pray also for your adult daughter, that the Lord would meet her needs according to His wisdom and supply her with grace for every trial. And we ask that He would strengthen your hands for your work, that you may do all things faithfully and on time, as serving the Lord and not men.

Take courage. The Lord chastens those whom He loves, and He often whispers to the heart in trial that we shall not be crushed. You shall live and declare the works of the Lord. May your deliverance be attended with enrichment, and may your life henceforth be a song of gratitude for the greater salvation wrought by Jesus Christ. We will continue to pray that you may know more and more the peace that comes from walking in sobriety and holiness before Him.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!
