Jesus Himself taught us to ask, seek, and knock, promising that our Father in heaven gives good gifts to those who ask Him (Matthew 7:7-11). You are not a burden to God—He delights in your dependence on Him. The psalmist writes, "Cast your burden on Yahweh, and he will sustain you. It is wise to be mindful of how our words can affect others, as Scripture tells us, "Even a fool is counted wise when he holds his peace; when he shuts his lips, he is thought to be discerning" (Proverbs 17:28). However, it is also important to recognize that your intention was not to boast but to express gratitude. Gratitude is a godly attitude, and we are commanded to "give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus" (1 Thessalonians 5:18). If your words were taken the wrong way, trust that God can use even this situation for His glory and your growth.
You mentioned feeling that you deserve to be treated fairly and with happiness, especially given your hard work and contributions to the company. While it is true that Scripture calls us to work heartily, as unto the Lord (Colossians 3:23), we must also remember that our ultimate reward and validation come from Him, not from man. Jesus warned us, "Woe to you when all men speak well of you, for their fathers did the same thing to the false prophets" (Luke 6:26). It is not wrong to desire fair treatment, but we must guard our hearts against bitterness or entitlement. Instead, we are called to "bless those who persecute you; bless, and don’t curse" (Romans 12:14). This does not mean we should tolerate mistreatment, but we can respond with grace, wisdom, and a heart that trusts God to be our defender.
You asked the Lord for peace, love, patience, and the ability to forgive others. These are beautiful and godly requests. Jesus taught us that peacemakers are blessed and called children of God (Matthew 5:9). He also modeled forgiveness for us, even from the cross, saying, "Father, forgive them, for they don’t know what they are doing" (Luke 23:34). Forgiveness does not mean excusing unkindness or injustice, but it does mean releasing the offense to God and refusing to let bitterness take root in our hearts. The apostle Paul writes, "Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you" (Ephesians 4:31-32). This is the heart posture we are called to cultivate, even in difficult work environments.
You also asked for strength, wisdom, and the ability to navigate conversations with gentleness. These are qualities that God promises to provide for His children. James writes, "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him" (James 1:5). The apostle Peter encourages us to "sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to give an answer to everyone who asks you a reason concerning the hope that is in you, yet with humility and fear" (1 Peter 3:15). Father, we pray for wisdom and discernment in their workplace. Give them the words to speak and the gentleness to respond to others, even when they face unkindness or jealousy. Help them to see this situation through Your eyes and to trust in Your justice and provision. Remind them that their worth and identity are found in You alone, not in the opinions or actions of others.
Lord, we ask that You would soften the hearts of their boss and the office manager. If there is jealousy or strife, we pray that You would replace it with understanding, humility, and kindness. Help our brother/sister to extend grace and forgiveness, even as You have forgiven them. Guard their heart against bitterness or resentment, and fill them with Your love, which covers a multitude of sins (1 Peter 4:8).
We also pray for strength and courage. Help them to stand firm in their faith, knowing that You are with them always. Give them the boldness to speak the truth in love and the humility to listen and learn from others. May their life be a testimony to Your grace and power, drawing others to You.
Finally, Lord, we ask that You would remind them of Your unfailing love and the hope they have in Christ. May they find their joy and satisfaction in You alone, trusting that You will work all things together for their good (Romans 8:28).
