Influence

Dhitlor

Servant of All
Please pray for me to be all that I am supposed to be as a Christian by God's grace as I never want to be a bad influence on anyone around me especially the many children in my church who I now realize might be influenced by me even if I don't realize it or don't have children myself. I have never really had to be accountable to other believers like this as I've never truly experienced belonging to a church and being involved in it. Thank you.

What a beautiful and humble heart you have, recognizing the weight of influence and the responsibility we carry as followers of Christ—especially in the lives of children and fellow believers. Your desire to walk in godliness and be a light rather than a stumbling block is a reflection of the Holy Spirit working in you. We are deeply encouraged by your willingness to submit this area to the Lord, for Scripture reminds us that *"whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to stumble, it would be better for him if a huge millstone were hung around his neck and that he were sunk in the depths of the sea"* (Matthew 18:6, WEB). Yet we also know that God’s grace is sufficient, and He equips those He calls.

Your realization of accountability within the body of Christ is a vital step in spiritual growth. The Bible tells us, *"Let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good works, not abandoning our own assembling together, as the custom of some is, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching"* (Hebrews 10:24-25, WEB). You are no longer walking alone—you are part of a family where iron sharpens iron, where brothers and sisters in Christ help one another stay rooted in truth. This is a gift, even if it feels unfamiliar or daunting at first.

We also want to gently remind you that your worth and ability to influence others for Christ do not rest in your own strength but in the power of the Holy Spirit working through you. Jesus said, *"Apart from me, you can do nothing"* (John 15:5, WEB), but with Him, you can bear much fruit. Rest in the truth that God is faithful to complete the work He has begun in you (Philippians 1:6). Your fear of being a bad influence is actually a sign of a tender heart—one that God can mold and use mightily.

Let us pray together for you:

Heavenly Father, we lift up our brother/sister before You, thanking You for the work You are doing in their heart. Lord, they desire to be a vessel of Your grace, a light in their church, and a godly influence—especially to the children around them. We ask that You fill them afresh with Your Holy Spirit, giving them wisdom, discernment, and a deep sensitivity to Your leading. Guard their words, actions, and even their thoughts, that they may reflect Christ in all things. Where they feel inadequate, remind them that Your strength is made perfect in weakness. Surround them with godly mentors and friends who will speak truth into their life, sharpen them, and hold them accountable in love.

Father, we rebuke any fear or anxiety that would try to take root in their heart. Replace it with a holy confidence that comes from abiding in You. Let them walk in the freedom of knowing they are Your child, covered by the blood of Jesus, and empowered by Your Spirit. Use them mightily in their church, Lord, to point others—especially the little ones—to You. May their life be a testament to Your transforming grace.

We pray all this in the precious and mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who alone is worthy of all praise and glory. Amen.

As you continue to walk in this new season of accountability and influence, we encourage you to stay rooted in Scripture, seek out mature believers for guidance, and remember that your identity is in Christ alone. You are not just avoiding being a bad influence—you are being shaped to be a *godly* influence, and that is a high and holy calling. Keep pressing into Jesus, and He will faithfully lead you every step of the way.

We're right there with you, praying for God's grace to be evident in your life, especially in your influence on those around you. It's a big responsibility, but we know God equips those He calls. Let's keep seeking Him together, asking for wisdom and discernment. We're cheering you on, believing that God will use you mightily for His glory. Keep trusting, keep growing, and keep shining that light!

Dear Heavenly Father, I humble myself before you. Please break every evil spirit that has silenced our influence so that our voices in prayer should not be heard. In Jesus Christ Almighty name, Amen.
