Please pray for me as I really need an increase in my income. I am tired of living paycheck to paycheck and not being able to pay debt down fast enough. I did have multiple jobs before and that helped but I had to let all but one of them go due to them conflicting with my Christian faith. Please pray for me about all this. Thank you.

We hear your struggle and the weight of financial burden you carry, and we stand with you in prayer before our Heavenly Father, who knows your needs before you even ask. The Bible tells us in Philippians 4:19, "My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus." We take comfort in this promise, knowing that God is not only aware of your situation but is also able to provide for you in ways that honor Him.

It is commendable that you chose to let go of jobs that conflicted with your Christian faith. This decision reflects your commitment to living a life that pleases God, even when it comes at a personal cost. In Matthew 6:33, Jesus instructs us, "But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." Your priority to honor God above all else is a testament to your faith, and we believe He will honor that choice.

We also want to encourage you to seek wisdom in managing the resources God has already entrusted to you. Proverbs 3:9-10 says, "Honor Yahweh with your substance, with the first fruits of all your increase; so your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will overflow with new wine." Trusting God with your finances includes being a good steward of what you have, even when it feels like it’s not enough. Consider seeking godly counsel on budgeting, debt management, and even exploring new opportunities that align with your faith.

Let us pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our brother/sister in Christ, lifting up their need for financial provision. Lord, You see their struggle, their weariness, and their desire to honor You in all things. We ask that You open doors of opportunity for them, ways to increase their income that align with Your will and Your Word. Provide for their needs abundantly, Father, and give them peace in the waiting. Help them to trust in Your timing and Your provision, knowing that You are their ultimate Provider. Give them wisdom in managing their finances, and guide them to opportunities that will not only meet their needs but also allow them to serve You wholeheartedly. We rebuke any spirit of lack or fear in this situation, declaring that You are Jehovah Jireh, the God who provides. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.

We also encourage you to remain steadfast in prayer and to seek God’s guidance in every decision. James 1:5 reminds us, "But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him." Trust that God is working even when you don’t see immediate results, and continue to walk in faith, knowing that He is faithful to His promises.

Having someone walk alongside you with that can lift a surprising amount of stress and give you back some breathing room. If that’s available near you, it might be a tangible next step alongside your prayers.

We join you in asking the Lord to provide, not just relief, but a way forward that fits the faith you’ve already shown.

Father, thank you for this one’s honest desire to honor you even when it hurt. You see the bills, the debt, the weariness. Please open a door to the right work, work that won’t compromise conscience, that brings enough to meet needs and begin chipping away at what is owed. Give wisdom with every dollar, and supply the peace that passes understanding while the numbers still don’t add up. In Jesus’ name, amen.

You grow weary of this constant scramble, and it is right to pour out such a burden before the mercy seat. Yet consider: the bitterest falls come when the support we lean upon is snapped, but Christ sticks closer than a brother. He is the faithful Friend in whom there is no lie. You have already proved this by releasing those employments which warred against your faith. That was no small sacrifice, but it was the olive tree’s reply: "Should I cease giving my oil, wherewith by me they honor God and man, and go to be promoted over the trees?" Anything that robs you of the power to honor God is a dead loss. You chose fidelity, and you did well.

Now, as to the income you lack: any work in which a believer cannot ask divine co-operation, the care of which he cannot cast upon God, is unfit for him. You have done right to flee it. But having obeyed, now do this, begin each day with prayer, continue in that spirit, and at evening commend all you have done to the same Lord. Any success attending your labor is of God who gives it. Put the little into His hands; the great is as nothing to Him, and He can multiply the little basket. Cry to Him. The poor man in the psalm could not preach or pray with fine words, but he cried. Any living child can cry. Do this, and He will perform all things for you.

Do not let the debt weigh you down as though you must invent some goodness to bring before the Lord. The faithful saying declares that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners. The wisdom of grace is to come penniless to the creditor. Admit the truth: "Here I am, I have no assets, I am in debt over head and ears and have not a penny to pay with." When you plead nothing of your own, you shall have your debt freely forgiven. Lay hold of this salvation full and free, needing nothing of yours to buy it, and then trust Him for daily bread.

And while you wait, be faithful to the treasure of the gospel entrusted to you. Do not suppose you must remain silent because you feel needy. Go home and say to your biggest boy, or to that sweet little daughter, "I want to tell you how Jesus loves me." Testimony is a debt to God and man. The Lord may yet make you a fisher of men, even from the humble boat of your present trial. The safety of your soul lies in continually sinking all in oblivion and coming to Christ saying, "Save me, for I have sinned." Even to your old age He is He, the same faithful God who carried you from the womb. Will you begin to doubt Him now? The weakest, if following Jesus and true to Him, shall find strength enough for the day.

You bring before God a need that weighs heavily upon you, and rightly so, for even the Apostle instructs us to make provision for the body’s necessities. But mark well the limit he sets: health, not wantonness; needful bread, not the lusts of the flesh. To be wearied by constant want is a trial, yet it is also a holy discipline if we let it teach us where our true wealth lies. When you say you had to let go of those other employments because they conflicted with your Christian faith, you have already made the better exchange.

You have chosen to store up treasure in heaven rather than to gain the whole world and lose your soul. Do not now let anxiety over debts drive you to question that good confession. The same God who sees the sparrow fall knows your need. Is it not He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food?

What you require for the body’s health, ask of Him daily, and labor honestly with your hands, but leave the increase entirely to His providence. For it is not your striving that multiplies the seed, but God who gives the growth. Make your request known with thanksgiving, and then turn your chief industry to the care of spiritual things. The present life is a dream; the debts that so trouble your sleep will vanish when the day dawns.

But if you let the flame of worldly care kindle into a furnace, you will lose the peace that is your birthright in Christ. Therefore, pray for your daily bread, but seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, trusting that all these things will be added unto you.

What you are describing sounds deeply familiar, not because your situation is simple, but because the struggle to remain faithful when it costs you physically and financially is an ancient one. There is a temptation to look at the jobs you had to let go and wonder if you made the right choice, as if your obedience triggered your lack. Some voices, even well-meaning ones, might suggest that if you just had more faith or if you were truly right with God, these doors would not have closed. That kind of thinking is a burden you were never meant to carry.

The accuser's oldest tactic is to insist that we only serve God for the benefits. When the hedge is up and the blessings flow, the claim is that our devotion is bought and paid for. The minute those comforts are stripped away, the same voice whispers that our integrity was never real, that our faith must be a sham, and that our suffering is proof of secret sin. You need to know that is a lie. Sometimes righteousness is the very reason for the trial, not the evidence against it. You let those jobs go not because your faith failed, but because you honored the Lord with your choices. That is not a weakness; it is a costly act of worship.

Living with the weight of financial pressure can make grief feel heavier than the sand of the sea. When you are tired of the constant calculation, the frustration of slow progress on debt, and the dread of an unexpected expense, it is easy to feel like you are being cut off while still green. But your weariness does not make you a hypocrite. You are not walking the path of the wicked who forget God; you are walking the hard path of a believer who is asking honest questions while refusing to let go of the Lord. It is a profound statement of faith when, in the middle of confusion and scarcity, you can still say, “Though he slay me, yet will I trust him.” You are not demanding answers; you are simply crying out for relief, and that is an honest prayer.

Do not let anyone heap false guilt on you by saying that your fear of lack caused the lack. That is as misguided as telling a grieving man that his disaster is his own fault. The fear of provision running thin is a natural human response to a thin bank account, not some dark spiritual force that unlocked your poverty. God does not treat us that way. He knows our frame; He remembers that we are dust.

Your prayer for an increase is not mercenary. You are asking your Father for daily bread, and you are doing so while maintaining your integrity. That pleases Him. We have a mediator, one who laid His hand on both God and man, who understands the weight of being tested yet without sin. He sees the jobs you gave up for conscience’s sake, and He is not unmoved by it. Trust that your faithfulness, like Job’s, is seen in the courts of heaven even when your bank account does not reflect it yet. May God open a door of provision that requires no compromise, and may He strengthen your heart to keep walking uprightly while you wait for it.
