In pain

Beloved of All
We use to be so happy in our marriage with two boys in our life but than alchol stole evrythin now see my husband spending his time in the bottle every day he drinks yes he still provide but still invest all his time by drinking waking up and repeating i feel so hurt I feel our marriage falling apart

We hear your heartbreak and pain, dear sister in Christ, and we stand with you in prayer before the throne of grace. Alcohol has indeed stolen so much from your marriage and family, but we know that nothing is too hard for the Lord. The Bible warns us in Proverbs 20:1, "Wine is a mocker, and beer is a brawler. Whoever is led astray by them is not wise." Your husband’s bondage to alcohol is not just hurting him, it’s breaking your heart and affecting your entire household.

We must rebuke the spirit of addiction that has taken hold of him in Jesus’ name. The enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), but Jesus came so that we may have life, and have it abundantly. Your husband was created for so much more than this cycle of bondage. We declare freedom over him, that the chains of alcohol would be broken, and that his mind would be renewed by the power of the Holy Spirit.

We also lift you up, precious wife and mother. It is not easy to watch someone you love spiral into addiction, especially when it affects the very foundation of your marriage. But remember, God sees your tears and collects them in His bottle (Psalm 56:8). You are not alone in this battle. Lean on the Lord for strength, and do not carry this burden by yourself. Seek out godly counsel, whether through your church, a Christian counselor, or a support group like Al-Anon. You need encouragement and wisdom as you navigate this difficult season.

Let us pray for you and your husband:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this marriage and family to You. Lord, we ask for Your mighty hand to intervene in this situation. Break the chains of addiction that have taken hold of this husband, and restore him to the man You created him to be. Soften his heart, Lord, and let him see the destruction his drinking is causing, not just to himself, but to his wife and children. Father, we pray for a spirit of repentance to fall upon him, that he would turn away from this sin and seek You with all his heart.

Lord, we also ask for Your comfort and strength for this wife. Give her the courage to stand firm in faith, even when it feels like her marriage is crumbling. Surround her with godly support, and fill her with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Help her to trust in You, even when the path ahead seems uncertain. Father, we ask for restoration in this marriage. Let Your love and grace flow through both of them, healing the wounds that alcohol has caused. May they rediscover the joy they once had, and may their home be filled with Your presence once again.

We pray all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, the One who sets the captives free and heals the brokenhearted. Amen.

Sister, we encourage you to continue praying fervently for your husband, but also to set boundaries that protect your heart and your children. Addiction thrives in secrecy and enabling, so do not be afraid to lovingly confront the issue with the support of your church or a counselor. Galatians 6:1-2 tells us, "Brothers, even if a man is caught in some fault, you who are spiritual must restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness; looking to yourself so that you also aren’t tempted. Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ."

You are not powerless in this situation. God has given you a voice, and He will use it for His glory. Stand firm in faith, and trust that the Lord is working even when you cannot see it. Your marriage is worth fighting for, and with God, all things are possible.

We’re so sorry you’re walking through this, it makes sense that you feel hurt and afraid watching your marriage slip away while your husband drinks day after day. You’re not alone, and the pain you’re carrying matters.

One thing we’ve seen help in situations like yours is to shift the focus from trying to change him (which none of us can do for another person) to getting solid support for yourself. You didn’t cause his drinking, and you can’t control it, but you can find steady ground so the hurt doesn’t crush you. A kind, practical step might be to look into a group like Al‑Anon, it’s for family members of alcoholics, and you’d meet people who truly get what this feels like. It’s not about fixing him; it’s about strengthening you. If that feels too big right now, even opening up to a trusted pastor or a wise friend could bring some of the weight off your shoulders. You deserve a place to be heard and to think through what healthy boundaries could look like in your own home.

We also want to say gently: if your husband’s drinking ever turns threatening or unsafe, please reach out for help immediately, your safety and your boys’ safety come first.

Would you let us pray for you right now?

Lord Jesus, hold this wife close. You see her tears and the exhaustion of watching her husband pour himself into a bottle. Give her wisdom that is calm and clear, not driven by panic or anger. Surround her with people who will listen and truly help. Guard her heart from bitterness and her mind from despair. And we ask you to do what only you can: stir in her husband a longing for something more than what drink can give, and bring him to a place where he’s willing to get help. Sustain this marriage, bring healing where things feel broken, and protect those two boys. In your name we pray, amen.

Pain grips your heart, and well it might, when the companion of your youth has become a companion of the bottle. That which stole your joy has made your home a place of sighs, and you watch him wake only to sink again into the same weary round. Yet, listen: there is a Husband who never fails. You see the fragments of an earthly covenant, but I would press upon you a better marriage. The Lord Jesus Christ is the Bridegroom of every soul that trusts Him, and He is a Husband to His people in faithful, tender, providing love. He set His special affection upon you, not because you are worthy, but because He is gracious. To Him you may tell all your pain; you could not tell a master, but you can tell a Husband. Cast your burdened heart upon Him.

And do you feel the marriage is falling apart? It is a grievous thing when the heart of a bride wanders, or when sin erects a wall where once there was oneness. Yet let not your own soul wander from the true Husband because an earthly one has staggered. Instead, let this bitter cup drive you nearer to the Lamb. The very pain you feel, that sharp ache over what is lost, is itself a proof of spiritual life. A dead soul feels no such throbs. Your grief over this ruin shows that the Spirit of the Lord is yet striving with you, and His patience is as a mother teaching her child to walk, holding you up when you are ready to fall.

Look now to your two little ones. They are not forgotten of God, and He would have you bring them to Jesus. Our Lord said, “Behold, I and the children whom God has given Me.” He delights in them, and He will use even the sorrows of this house for their lasting good if you will place them in His arms. Teach them to sing His praise when your own voice is broken with weeping. Their childlike faith is precious in His sight; hinder them not, for of such is the kingdom.

As for the man who drinks, you cannot break the cord that binds him, but the Lamb of God can. Pray without ceasing; tell the Lord of Hosts that though a human husband has turned aside, the divine Husband is faithful still, and that you look to the marriage supper of the Lamb for your true and lasting joy. Wait on Him. He declares that He hates putting away; He says, “I am married unto you.” Rest there, and though the earthly vine yields no fruit, your soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness, and you shall know that He is good.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your pain is great, for you see the ship of your marriage battered by a storm of drunkenness. Once you were happy, but now the bottle has stolen your husband’s soul, and he repeats his sin daily. Yet do not let despair overtake you; remember that marriage is a holy mystery, a living icon of Christ and the Church. It is not a bond to be cast aside lightly.

The drink is a tyrant, overthrowing your home just as surely as the theater and its harlots destroy many houses. It makes husbands insupportable and wives contemptible. But you must not meet this evil with worldly weapons. Do not think that by adorning yourself with extravagant dress or by bitter complaints you will win him back. Such things cannot restrain a profligate; they only plant jealousy and ill-will, driving away all true pleasure. What gains the husband is not outward beauty but the inward grace of gentleness, propriety, and the fear of God.

If you see him going off to drinking, do not abandon your post. The Apostle says the unbelieving husband is sanctified by his believing wife. Remain with him, even if he is enslaved, and let your chaste conduct preach to him without words. When he is sober, speak to him not as a teacher but as a companion in this struggle. Say, “I have reminded you of what is good; do the same for me, and if you see me failing, hold me back.” In this way he may bear reproof, seeing that you need help as well.

Above all, commit your husband into God’s hands. Beseech Christ to be present in your home, as the servant of Abraham prayed for a worthy spouse. Pray that God deliver him from this tyranny. For if you are faithful, your marriage, though now full of sorrow, can yet reflect the joy of the heavenly Bridegroom who never leaves His Church. Do not seek wealth or status from him, but his soul. Endure this trial with orderliness and gravity, for virtue is sweeter than any fleeting earthly pleasure, and God honors those who honor Him.
