im so upset

We hear the deep anguish in your words, and our hearts ache with you. The pain you're carrying feels overwhelming, and it’s clear that you’re struggling to see any light in this darkness. But we want you to know, you are not alone. Even in your deepest sorrow, God sees you, hears you, and longs to draw near to you. The Bible tells us in Psalm 34:18, "Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit." You are not forgotten, and your pain matters to Him.

First, we must address the reality of your suffering with honesty and compassion. The weight of life can feel unbearable at times, and it’s okay to admit that. But we also want to gently remind you that your life has immense value in God’s eyes. You were fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), and God has a purpose for you, even when it feels hidden. If you’re feeling lost, we encourage you to cry out to Him in your distress. Psalm 142:1-2 says, "I cry with my voice to Yahweh. With my voice, I ask Yahweh for mercy. I pour out my complaint before him. I tell him my troubles." God invites you to bring Him your raw, unfiltered pain, He can handle it.

Now, we must ask: Have you placed your trust in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior? The Bible makes it clear that eternal life and true peace come only through Him. John 14:6 says, "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'" If you haven’t yet surrendered your life to Him, we urge you to consider doing so. Salvation is a gift, received by faith, and it begins with confessing your need for Him. Romans 10:9 says, "If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." If you’re unsure how to take that step, we would love to walk you through it.

In the meantime, we want to pray for you. Let’s come before the Lord together:

"Heavenly Father, we lift up this precious soul to You, who is hurting deeply and feeling lost. Lord, You see their pain, and You collect every tear they’ve cried. We ask that You would wrap Your arms around them right now and remind them that they are not alone. Comfort them with Your presence, and fill the emptiness in their heart with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Father, if they do not yet know You as their Savior, we pray that You would draw them to Yourself. Open their eyes to see the hope that is found only in Jesus Christ. Give them the strength to take one step forward, even if it’s just reaching out to someone who can walk with them. Heal their wounds, restore their hope, and let them feel Your love in tangible ways. We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus, Amen."

Friend, we also want to encourage you to seek out a trusted believer, a pastor, a Christian counselor, or a mature friend, who can walk with you through this season. You don’t have to carry this burden alone. The Bible tells us in Ecclesiastes 4:9-10, "Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow; but woe to him who is alone when he falls, and doesn’t have another to lift him up." Isolation only deepens the pain, but community can bring healing.

Lastly, we want to gently challenge any lies you may be believing about yourself or your situation. The enemy wants to convince you that your pain is permanent, that you’re beyond hope, or that God has abandoned you. But those are lies. The truth is that God is close to the brokenhearted, and He specializes in turning ashes into beauty (Isaiah 61:3). You may not see the way forward yet, but God does. Hold on to His promises, even if it’s just one small step at a time.

We care about you deeply, and we will continue to stand in the gap for you in prayer. If you’d like, you can share more about what you’re going through, and we will pray specifically over those areas. You are loved, you are valued, and your life has purpose. Don’t give up.

We hear you, and we’re so sorry you’re carrying this. Feeling that miserable, lost, and hurt all at once is enough to make anyone feel like giving up, especially when you just don’t know what to do with any of it. Please hear us plainly: if those thoughts are pulling you toward hurting yourself, you don’t have to white-knuckle it alone. If you are in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services right now. For free, confidential support from someone who will listen without judgment, find a helpline in your country at findahelpline.com. Many of us have leaned on lifelines like that, there is no shame in reaching.

When despair gets this heavy, it creates an awful tunnel vision. It whispers that there’s only one way out. That’s the pain talking, not the truth about your worth or your future. You matter. We believe there is a reason to keep breathing, even if you can’t see it through the fog.

We aren’t going to pile on advice you didn’t ask for. We simply want you to stay here, and to let someone steady walk beside you through the not-knowing. Call that helpline, or turn to a trusted friend or pastor who will just be with you.

You wrote, “he knows.” We’re not sure who you meant, but if you’re thinking of Jesus, we believe He sees every bit of this. Not from a distance, right in the middle of it with you. And we’re asking Him now:

Jesus, hold this precious person in the storm. When everything feels dark and pointless, be the quiet anchor they can’t sense yet. Break the lie that death is the answer. Send a real voice, a shoulder, a flicker of hope. Let them feel, even faintly, that they are not alone and not forgotten. In Your name, amen.

Your present misery is known to Him who endured the contradiction of sinners against Himself. Behold Majesty in misery, Jesus, before whom angels veil their faces, stood patient when men mocked Him and smote Him. He knows, with a knowing born of experience, the depths of human anguish. Do not imagine your hurt is unseen or unfelt. The Son of Man, in all His glory, stooped to wear your sorrows and carried your griefs. Look long at that wonder: the Lord of Life, silent under torture, answering violence only with patient love. His heart is not distant from your distress; it is precisely into such misery He came. Meditate upon this Majesty stooping into pain, and pray the Spirit to give you such a sight of it that your own misery might find a sacred meeting place with His.

Yet your cry reveals a word that goes beyond the truth of God. To say “it’s miserable to be alive” edges dangerously near that evil word, “Our hope is lost.” God is the sinner’s hope, and He is not lost, so such despair is never warranted. Despair is a high insult to the Father of mercies. It degrades you beneath the brute beast, for even a wounded insect struggles toward life. You sigh and feel utterly undone, but beware of sullenly lying down in despair, lest your own words make ruin sure. No mortal has a just pretense to perish in despondency; it is a form of willful self-destruction. God save you from the Judas-sin of despairing, and instead enable you to believe right now.

The Son of Man is come to save that which is lost. This is the very center of all hope for you. The word “lost” is strong, it means destroyed, ruined, undone. You speak of being lost and hurt and know not what else, and that very condition qualifies you for His work. He does not despise the destroyed one. He shows peculiar interest in one lost soul. He assumes the special character of Seeker and Savior for such as you. If you were never lost, you would have no part in His salvation. So this misery you feel, this sense of being utterly adrift, is exactly the plight He came to remedy. There is more joy in heaven over one shattered, ruined sinner recovered than over those who never strayed so visibly. Your name has not been blotted from His book. The confusion of your heart, the wild waves of your turmoil, cannot erase what grace has engraved.

He puts forth special exertion for the rescue of one lost one. You may feel upon the very verge of the pit, slipping fast. But this word descends to the lowest depth: “The Son of Man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.” He is not waiting for you to clean yourself up. The lost piece of silver was altogether ignorant of its state; it lay in the dust, and the woman swept diligently until she found it. So the Holy Spirit seeks where you cannot even cry out aright. Your misery does not bar you from His eye; it draws it. The deeper your sense of ruin, the clearer it is that you are among those Jesus came to save.

Do not give up because He seems long in coming. Even His beloved sometimes lose the sense of His company at unexpected times, not wholly, but in terms of felt joy. And if you have lost Him, go back and seek Him where you lost Him. He is still immutably the same toward you. And consider this: He who bridges the gulf between the misery of fallen man and the glory of the unsullied God has come to save the lost. Let your sins confound you so as to drive you to utter despair of yourself, of your own merits, your own feelings, your own works. But let not their number prevent hope in Him. He saved many a soul that was lost to itself, lost to God, lost to hope and holiness. Look to Him. He saves those He seeks, and He seeks you even now.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your misery is known to God, yet He does not will that you perish in it. To be lost and hurt is the very hour to seek the Physician, not to lie down as one already dead. The devil never despairs of dragging souls to ruin; shall you despair of your own salvation? That is the one fatal wound. There is no affliction of the soul beyond healing, unless you yourself refuse the remedy. How many have fallen into depths of evil and yet risen in a moment, like the thief on the cross? The harlot passes by the careless righteous man; do not think yourself beyond mercy. While it is called Today, hope remains. Do not give yourself up to despondency, for that is not the sorrow of longing but the inertia of despair. Stand up from this gloom. God reproaches no past to the one who turns back to Him with a riven heart. Cleave to Him earnestly, and the storm within you will grow calm.

You feel lost, hurt, and so confused that it seems miserable just to be alive. That kind of pain runs deep, and it touches the heart of God more than you may realize right now. When His people wander into such heavy darkness, He does not stand far off in anger. He is hurt. Your self-destructive path stirs the same ache a loving parent feels when a child chooses a way that leads only to harm. He knows, and it matters to Him.

But that despair has a way of bringing us to the end of ourselves. For a long time I thought the answer was to try harder to fix my own miserable state, and it only made the burden heavier. It was when I came to utter despair and finally cried out, “Who will deliver me?” that everything changed. That moment of total desperation was not the end; it was the door. God sometimes lets us sink completely so we stop relying on our own failing efforts and find that the victory belongs entirely to Him through Jesus Christ.

Your very sense of being lost is exactly where the Shepherd goes to work. Jesus said plainly that He came to seek and to save the lost. In His parables, the lost sheep and the lost coin were of no use until someone searched them out. And when they were found, the natural response was rejoicing. Jesus receives sinners, and that is not a cold statement of fact. It is the glad announcement that He welcomes the wandering and the broken who cannot fix themselves. Your feeling of lostness does not disqualify you; it is the precise condition He responds to with mercy.

All around us there is confusion because people have lost the consciousness that God is King. When that awareness slips away, everyone does what seems right in their own eyes, and the result is chaos and deep inner turmoil. Yet even in that confusion, God gives songs in the night. He alone can cheer a soul in the darkest circumstances. You do not need to find your own way out of this mess. You simply need to turn to the One who made you and who is never far from a broken heart that calls on Him.

So do not stay locked in the question of how to deliver yourself. Bring your hurt to the Lord who sees you, who knows this misery, and who does not condemn you for it. Let those who seek Him rejoice and be glad in Him. Trust that He hears, that He will not turn you away, and that being found by Jesus leads to a joy that swallows up despair. He has already come for the lost. You are exactly the one He came to carry home.

We want you to know how deeply we’ve carried your pain before the Lord these past days. Your words about feeling lost, hurt, and so miserable that life itself feels unbearable have not fallen on deaf ears—we’ve lifted every heavy syllable to the Father, asking Him to wrap you in His peace and show you that you are never alone. There is no sorrow too deep for His love to reach, no darkness too thick for His light to penetrate.

If in these days you’ve sensed even the faintest whisper of His presence, the smallest glimmer of hope breaking through the clouds, we would be overjoyed to hear it. Your praise report could be a beacon for others walking through similar valleys. But if the weight still feels crushing and the answers seem distant, please don’t hesitate to share your burden with us again. We are here to stand with you, to pray without ceasing, and to remind you that God’s timing is perfect even when we can’t see it.

You are not forgotten. You are not abandoned. And you are so deeply loved—by us, and infinitely more by the One who gave everything to bring you close. May He draw near to you in ways you can feel, may He quiet the storm within your heart, and may you encounter His grace anew as you seek Him through Jesus Christ our Lord. We continue to pray in His precious name.

I didn’t work for 20 months, I prayed to God to bless me with a job and then out of nowhere I was offered one after hundreds and/or over a thousand applications. I worked at this new job for two weeks and then stopped getting rostered on. It’s like God blessed me then just took it away like it...
