I'm so lost.

Disciple of Prayer
Please pray for me. My heart has grown so hard, my soul bitter, my relationship with the Lord completely cold. I've lost all passion and fire, and it feels like it will never come back. I am utterly lost. I fear I am damned for eternity.

We hear the cry of your heart, and we join with you in lifting this burden before the Lord. Your honesty about the hardness of your heart and the coldness in your soul is the first step toward restoration. The Word of God tells us, "I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them a heart of flesh" (Ezekiel 11:19). This is not just a promise, it is God’s desire for you. He does not abandon His children, even when they feel far from Him.

Your fear of damnation is heavy, but we must remind you of the truth: "There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus" (Romans 8:1). If you have placed your faith in Jesus, His sacrifice covers you, even in your weakest moments. But if you have never truly surrendered your life to Him, now is the time. Salvation is found in no other name but Jesus Christ (Acts 4:12). Confess your sins, repent, and believe in Him as your Lord and Savior. He is faithful to forgive and cleanse you (1 John 1:9).

We must also address the bitterness in your soul. Bitterness is a poison that hardens the heart and quenches the Spirit. The writer of Hebrews warns, "Looking carefully lest there be any man who falls short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and many be defiled by it" (Hebrews 12:15). Have you allowed past hurts, unconfessed sin, or unmet expectations to take root in your heart? The Lord calls you to release these burdens to Him. Forgiveness, both receiving it and extending it, is key to breaking the chains of bitterness.

You mention a "relationship with the Lord" that has grown cold, and we must ask: Are you spending time in His Word and in prayer? The fire of passion for God is not sustained by emotion alone but by abiding in Him. Jesus said, "Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me" (John 15:4). Return to the disciplines that draw you near to Him, reading Scripture, praying, worshiping, and fellowshipping with other believers. The Holy Spirit will rekindle the flame if you seek Him with your whole heart.

We also sense a need to rebuke the lie that your passion will never return. The enemy wants you to believe that you are beyond hope, but God’s Word declares, "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope" (Jeremiah 29:11). Your feelings are real, but they are not the final word. God is greater than your emotions, and He is able to restore what has been lost.

Let us pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our brother/sister who is feeling lost and far from You. Lord, we ask that You would break the hardness of their heart and replace it with a heart of flesh that is tender toward You. Forgive them for any bitterness, unconfessed sin, or distance they have allowed to grow. We declare that Your love is greater than their struggles, and Your grace is sufficient for their weakness.

Lord, we rebuke the spirit of despair and fear that has taken hold. We speak life and hope over them, reminding them that You are a God who restores. Rekindle the fire of passion for You in their soul. Draw them back into Your presence through Your Word and prayer. Surround them with believers who will encourage and strengthen them. Remind them of Your promises and the truth that nothing can separate them from Your love (Romans 8:38-39).

If they have never truly surrendered their life to You, we pray that today would be the day of salvation. May they confess their sins, repent, and place their faith in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Thank You for Your faithfulness, even when we are faithless (2 Timothy 2:13). We trust You to complete the work You have begun in them (Philippians 1:6).

In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

You are not damned. You are not beyond hope. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). Take one step toward Him today, open your Bible, cry out in prayer, or reach out to a trusted believer. He is waiting to meet you there.

"So do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with My righteous right Hand" (Isaiah 41:10)

I prayed with you for this, in Jesus' powerful Name, Amen.

Proverbs 3:5-6: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight".

We’ve all been where you are, feeling like the fire inside has burned out and the road ahead is too dark to walk. But even in that coldness, God is there, closer than you realize. He doesn’t turn away when we stumble; He runs to meet us. Remember Peter walking on water? For a moment, his eyes were on Jesus, and he was fine. But when doubt crept in, he started to sink. That’s where you are now, not because God left you, but because something shifted your focus.

Maybe it’s hurt that hasn’t been healed, or disappointment that’s turned into anger. Bitterness is sneaky like that, it doesn’t announce itself; it just settles in and makes everything feel gray. But God’s Word says when we confess, He’s faithful to cleanse us (1 John 1:9). Not just once, but every time we turn back to Him.

We don’t know what’s weighing on you the most, but we do know this: the enemy wants you to believe this coldness is permanent. He whispers that you’re too far gone, that your passion is gone forever. But that’s a lie. The God who stirred the embers in your heart before can stir them again. In fact, He’s already at work, waiting for you to let Him in.

Have you ever just sat in silence before the Lord, not asking for anything, just being still? Sometimes, in that quiet, we remember who He is, not just the God who saves, but the One who holds us when we’re broken. He doesn’t demand we have it all together to come near. He just wants us to come.

If you’ve never surrendered your life to Him, this could be the moment. If you have but feel distant, this could be the step back. Either way, He’s there. He’s not waiting for you to get it right, He’s waiting for you to reach out.

Father, we ask that You would meet our brother or sister right where they are. If there’s unconfessed sin weighing them down, reveal it gently and draw them to repentance. If bitterness has taken root, uproot it by Your mercy. Soften the hardness of their heart and replace it with the tenderness only You can give. Rekindle the flame of passion for You, not because of what they’ve done, but because of who You are. Surround them with Your peace, and let them feel Your presence even in the stillness.

In Jesus’ name, we pray.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!
