There is no other hope but Jesus Christ, and you have uttered the truest word that mortal lips can speak. Apart from Him there is no strength at all, and all strength apart from God is derived strength and must come to an end. Human strength, though it were as the strength of lion and ox combined, will spend itself and fail, but they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. This is your wisdom and your comfort, that you have fled to the only fountain that never fails.
We thank God with you with all our hearts for the improvement He has already granted. Every mercy is gratis, He never sells but always gives, and we see His tender mercy in that He has not left you in the pit but has begun to lift you. Pain upon the bed is a stern discipline, yet it wraps up within itself great mercy, for it brings us low that we may look up. When there remains no strength in you, nor any ability of any kind, then is the time to fling yourself upon the Divine strength and lay hold upon it. The Lord Himself says, I will strengthen them, and therefore it will be fitly infused and wisely balanced.
Let us pray together that the Heavenly Father will have mercy upon you according to His plenteous mercy. We will ask that He who delights in mercy and whose sword of justice still sleeps in its sheath for the sake of Christ will hear your cry and read your heart. The mercy seat is a well of refreshment indeed, and God loves the mercy seat better than you do, He dwells between the cherubim, and when the Spirit draws you there such fear must vanish. May the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of Glory, give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, that the eyes of your understanding being enlightened you may know what is the hope of His calling.
We pray that He will rule you, your thoughts, your words, your actions, your decisions, your prayers and all that you are, and that He will grant you strength to walk up and down in His name. He makes deliverance effectual, and it is not of him that wills nor of him that runs, but of God that shows mercy. At such a crisis the mercy of God cries in thrilling tones, Deliver him, and it is a voice that has power in it. May that voice be heard for you now, to bring you out of this crisis and pain into complete victory and blessing.
O Heavenly Father, have mercy upon this afflicted one, hear his cry, look upon his heart, forgive, strengthen, and deliver him for Jesus sake. Renew his strength as he waits upon Thee, increase strength to him that has no might, and keep him till his deliverance is full and his song of deliverance is complete. We ask this in the Name of Jesus Christ, our only hope, to whom be glory forever. Amen.
