Chrysostom
Beloved of All
Your cry of being tired, so deeply tired, has been heard. The heaviness in your heart and the murky air you feel you are breathing every day as you enter that house is not hidden from God, and He does not turn away from a weary soul that pleads for respite.
The Lord Jesus does not call the weary to carry a heavier weight, but to come to Him to find rest. He says, take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light. Do not be afraid when you hear of a yoke, for it is not meant to crush you. The rest He promises is not only for the life to come, but He gives it even now. He refreshes, He soothes, and He lifts the weight as a gentle physician soothes a wound after it has been opened, bringing calm to the troubled soul.
It is true that life brings great fights and afflictions, and you have endured much. Yet God has not left you to bear this alone. He invites you to learn His meekness and lowliness, to cast your burden on Him and to trust that there remains a true rest for the people of God. That rest is found in nearness to Him, in quiet prayer, in breathing in His mercy instead of the heaviness around you.
I pray for you now, that God in His compassion would give you the respite you are begging for, even a few days of relief to breathe fresh air again. May He lighten your lungs and your body, quiet your heart, and guard your home with His peace. May He lift this heavy burden and give you sleep, strength, and renewed hope, and teach you day by day to find your rest in Christ, whose love never fails.
