Beloved of All
I am carrying a deep hurt and facing a problem in my relationship with my brother, ###. My desire is to forgive and for the relationship to be restored. He is perhaps the most difficult person, and this the most challenging relationship, I have ever known. Yet, this broken relationship and the hurt in my heart stand as a barrier to drawing closer to God. Let us pray that God helps me to truly forgive completely—freeing me from hurt and negative thoughts—so that my heart may be pure and at peace, in the name of Jesus Christ! Let us pray that God grants me wisdom and intervenes to resolve this issue, aligning the relationship with His will, in the name of Jesus Christ! Let us pray that God heals my heart and soul and protects me from further hurt, in the name of Jesus Christ! Let us pray that God accomplishes His work in my brother ###, so that he may become more spiritually mature, more obedient to God, more loving, and more compassionate, in the name of Jesus Christ! Thank you... God bless you!

We join with you in bringing this deep hurt before the Lord and we thank you for sharing this burden so honestly. We hear your desire to forgive completely and to see this relationship with your brother restored, and we recognize how heavy and challenging this has been for you. The pain of a broken family relationship can indeed feel like a barrier between us and God, yet Scripture assures us that He is near to those who are hurting and He desires to bring healing and peace to your heart.

The Word calls us to a high standard of forgiveness, not because the hurt is small, but because we have been forgiven so much in Christ. Ephesians 4:31-32 says Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander, be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you. Colossians 3:13 reminds us to bear with one another, and forgive each other, if any man has a complaint against any, even as Christ forgave you, so you also do. Matthew 6:14 tells us For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. Forgiveness is not a feeling that comes first but an act of obedience and release, choosing to hand the debt and the hurt over to God and refusing to let a root of bitterness grow, as warned in Hebrews 12:15. We encourage you to continue to bring those negative thoughts captive to Christ and to cast all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you, 1 Peter 5:7.

We also understand your desire for restoration and for protection from further hurt. Romans 12:18 teaches If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men. This shows us that reconciliation is our aim, but it requires two willing hearts and it must be pursued with wisdom and boundaries that honor God. True forgiveness does not mean ignoring wisdom or allowing ongoing harm, but it does mean guarding your heart without closing it in bitterness, Proverbs 4:23, and trusting God to be your defender and healer. Psalm 147:3 promises He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds. Psalm 34:18 says Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. As you seek to draw closer to God, remember that your hurt does not disqualify you from His presence, it is an invitation to come boldly to His throne of grace for mercy and help.

We pray together for you now.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we lift up our dear brother and sister to Your throne of grace. We ask that You pour out Your healing upon this wounded heart and soul. Heal the deep hurt, wash away bitterness and negative thoughts, and replace them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding, Philippians 4:7, so that this heart may be pure, at peace, and fully free in Christ. Grant wisdom that comes from above, James 1:5, to know how to speak, when to speak, and when to be still, and intervene in this relationship according to Your perfect will. We ask that You accomplish Your work in the brother as well, drawing him closer to You, making him more spiritually mature, more obedient, more loving and more compassionate, that he may walk in Your ways. Teach both to love as You have loved us and to seek reconciliation as far as it depends on them, all for Your glory. Protect this precious heart from further hurt, guard it by Your truth, and let no barrier remain between this dear one and Your loving presence. Help the forgiveness that is willed today to become the freedom and wholeness of tomorrow by the power of Your Holy Spirit. We ask all this in the mighty and merciful name of Jesus Christ, our only Savior and mediator, amen.

We encourage you to remain steadfast in prayer for your brother, blessing him even when it is difficult, Matthew 5:44, and to continue to pursue communion with God daily through His Word and prayer, trusting that He is working even when you cannot yet see the restoration. Proverbs 3:5-6 says Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Keep forgiving as Christ forgave you, seventy times seven, Matthew 18:22, and trust the Lord to bring the increase, the healing, and in His time and way, the restoration that aligns with His will.

We have been holding your hurt before the Lord, especially the pain with your brother . To love someone who feels like the most difficult relationship you have ever known is exhausting, and we understand why that ache has made it harder to feel close to God even as you long to be.

What you named is so honest, the desire to forgive fully and to have a heart at peace. One insight that helps many in this place is that forgiveness often comes in two layers. There is the settled decision to let go of getting even or shutting down completely, and to continue to see the other person as someone of value before God. Then there is the slower healing of the emotions, where resentment, fear and bitter thoughts gradually loosen as you keep bringing them to the Lord. That second part rarely happens all at once, and needing time there does not mean your decision was not real. Reconciliation is different still, it takes both people willing to rebuild trust, so you can faithfully choose forgiveness even while you wait on God for what restoration may look like.

When those sharp memories or negative thoughts return, it can help to quietly reaffirm the decision you have already made and turn that moment into a short surrender to God rather than replaying the hurt over and over.

Father, we lift this dear brother to You and his brother to You. Heal the wound in his heart, quiet the hurtful thoughts, and give him wisdom for each next step with his brother. Guard him from further harm, draw him close to You, and work in to grow in love and compassion. We ask this in Jesus' name, amen.

Your burden has been laid before the Lord and He has heard the cry of a wounded heart that longs to forgive and to be at peace with Him. It is well that you see this broken relationship as a barrier to communion with God, for healing and pardon are placed in happy conjunction, and when the Lord comes and dwells with His people, pardon and healing are one.

Hear what the Word declares, there is forgiveness with God. It is a divine forgiveness, for He Himself says, I, even I, am He that blotteth out thy transgressions. It is a surprising forgiveness, so great that it is written as if God Himself marvels that such sins should be remitted, and it is a complete forgiveness. Suppose you call upon your creditor and say I have nothing to pay with, so the Lord releases the debt altogether. It is an eternal forgiveness, for the gifts and calling of God are without repentance, He never plays fast and loose with men. There is forgiveness now, at this moment, for whatever your sins may have been, and there will be forgiveness as long as life lasts, through Jesus Christ His Son, who died the Just for the unjust that He might bring us to God.

Do as Martin Luther did when in dark distress a brother said to him, Do you not say I believe in the forgiveness of sins, now believe in the forgiveness of sins for yourself. Believe that for you also there is forgiveness, and that having received such full and perfect forgiveness in Christ, you may now extend it to another.

For the pattern set before us is this, even as Christ forgave you, so also do you. After such forgiveness as the Lord has bestowed upon us, we should be wicked servants indeed if we should take our brother by the throat and say, Pay me what thou owest. The law of the Lord's release is that every creditor shall release that which is his with his brother and shall not exact it, because it is called the Lord's release. Revenge is paltry, forgiveness is great minded, and the most splendid vengeance you can have is to do good to them that do you evil and to speak well of them that speak ill of you.

Let us pray together in the name of Jesus Christ, through whom alone salvation is found.

We pray that the Lord will grant you grace to forgive completely, not in mere word but from the heart, releasing the debt as you have been released, that He may free you from hurt and from negative thoughts and give you a pure heart and peace that guards your soul. We pray that He will heal your heart and soul, for the leaves of the tree of life are for the healing of the nations, and the least thing about Christ is healing virtue to change the life blood and make the nature new. We pray that He will protect you from further hurt and keep you under the shadow of His wings.

We pray that God will grant you wisdom from above and will Himself intervene in this matter with your brother, aligning all things with His holy will and working for good and for His glory. We pray that He will accomplish His own work in your brother, that He may be brought to greater spiritual maturity, to more humble obedience to God, and to a more loving and compassionate walk, being conformed to the image of Christ.

May the Sun of Righteousness rise upon you with healing in His wings, and may you know that you are absolutely and eternally forgiven in Christ, and therefore made able by His Spirit to forgive as you have been forgiven.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your pain over this broken relationship with your brother has been heard, and I join you in bringing it before the Lord who alone can heal and restore.

You have spoken truly when you said this hurt stands as a barrier to drawing closer to God. Sin and bitterness are fearful things for the soul, and often God allows the pain we feel in our hearts and even in our bodies to awaken us so that the better part, the soul, may be healed. Your desire to forgive is itself a grace from God, for our sin does not belong to necessity or compulsion but to our choice and judgment. As it has been said, the root of blessing must be well settled within us, and that root is our principle of choice. To choose forgiveness when the wound is deep is to plant that root firmly.

Remember also that he is not only a difficult man, he is your brother, a brother for whose sake Christ died. For that reason we must be careful not to judge even as we are hurt. If we must not judge a brother, how much more should we seek his good and pray for his healing rather than dwell on accusation. When brother contends with brother, the bond itself, the feeling and relationship given by God, can become the means of settlement if we commit the cause to Him rather than to bitterness.

Therefore let us pray together in the name of Jesus Christ, through whom alone we have salvation and access to the Father.

We pray that God will grant you grace to forgive completely, not partly or in word only, but from the heart, so that you may be freed from hurt and from negative thoughts, and that your heart may be made pure and at peace.

We pray that God will give you wisdom and that He will intervene in this difficult relationship, removing what is harmful, softening what is hard, and aligning all things with His will so that reconciliation may come in the way that honors Him.

We pray that God will heal your heart and soul, binding up the wound that has lingered, and that He will guard and protect you from further hurt, giving you strength to walk in love without returning to bitterness.

We pray that God will accomplish His own work in your brother, that He will lead him to greater spiritual maturity, to obedience, to a more loving and compassionate heart, and to a closer walk with Christ.

Hold fast to prayer, commit your pain daily to the Lord, and do not let the hurt turn into a habit of judgment. Seek peace, speak truth in love when the opportunity is given, and trust that the Lord who sees your heart will be your healer and your judge. May the Lord keep you, give you rest in your soul, and draw you nearer to Himself as you walk in forgiveness.

Thank you for sharing so honestly about the deep hurt you are carrying in your relationship with your brother. It is painful when the most difficult relationship in your life is with someone so close, and it is wise and humble of you to recognize how that hurt and the thoughts that come with it can become a barrier between you and God.

Scripture shows us that God understands the pain of broken brother relationships. One brother was betrayed and sold by his own brothers who later confessed they had seen the anguish of his soul and would not listen. Years later that same brother, now in a position of power, did not take revenge. He wept over his full brother whom he had not seen since he was a small child, he tested his brothers hearts, and when he finally revealed himself he said, do not be grieved or angry with yourselves, for God sent me before you to preserve life. What they meant for evil, God meant for good. His forgiveness was real, generous, and rooted in seeing God's larger purpose, even though the wound had been deep.

We see another picture in the story of two brothers where one had deceived the other and the other had vowed to kill him. After many years apart, the brother who had fled prayed earnestly, humbled himself, sent gifts ahead to bless his brother, and bowed low as he approached. He called his brother lord and himself servant, he shared from the abundance God had given him, and he moved toward him with an embrace. God touched both hearts and a love that had seemed dead was rekindled.

These stories teach us that true forgiveness does not pretend the hurt was small. It acknowledges the wrong honestly before God. When God asked, where is your brother, it was not because He did not know, but to give a person a chance to confess and receive forgiveness. Bringing your hurt and your own need for grace into the light before God gives Him the basis to cleanse, heal and restore fellowship with Him.

We join you in prayer in the name of Jesus Christ.

We pray that God will help you to forgive fully from the heart, not by your own strength but by His grace, so that you may be freed from the constant hurt and negative thoughts and know a pure heart and the peace that guards heart and mind.

We pray that God will heal your heart and soul. Healing is often a process that God works gently and deeply, mending not only what others have done but the scars that remain in your thoughts and emotions, and that He will protect you from further harm as you walk with wisdom and boundaries that honor Him.

We pray that God will grant you wisdom for each step, to know when to speak and when to be silent, how to act in humility and love without demanding what only God can do, and that He will intervene in this relationship and align it with His will.

We pray also for your brother, that God will accomplish His work in him, drawing him nearer to Christ, making him more mature, more obedient to the Lord, and more loving and compassionate. Only God can change a heart, but He is able.

Keep bringing this burden to Jesus, who alone is the way of salvation and the source of forgiveness. As you continue to release this hurt to Him and seek to do His will, trust that He sees every tear, hears every prayer, and is able to preserve life and bring good even out of painful years.
