Beloved of All

Help me get a job

We join you in bringing this burden before the Lord together, for we know how heavy and discouraging it can be to be unemployed and to long for work and provision. We hear your cry for help to find a job, and we understand that waiting for three years has been a difficult trial. We want you to know that God sees your need and He cares deeply about your daily bread and your purpose.

The Scriptures remind us that God is our provider and that work itself is honorable before Him. Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men, Colossians 3:23. We are also taught to commit our deeds to Yahweh, and our plans shall succeed, Proverbs 16:3, and to seek first God’s Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well, Matthew 6:33. Our God has promised, My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus, Philippians 4:19, and we cling to His promise, For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future, Jeremiah 29:11.

We notice you addressed your prayer to Lord, and we want to gently encourage you with a vital truth. It is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father, and there is salvation in no other name. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, John 14:6, and There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12. If you have not yet put your trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, we urge you to confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, for with the heart, one believes resulting in righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made resulting in salvation, Romans 10:9-10. It is in His name we pray with confidence.

We pray together for you now. Father in heaven, in the name of Jesus Christ we lift up this dear one to You who is weary from unemployment and longing for work. Lord, You know the length of this waiting and the need for provision. We ask that You open doors of opportunity that no man can shut, that You guide our friend to the job You have prepared, where gifts can be used for Your glory and where needs can be met with dignity. Grant favor with employers, wisdom in applications and interviews, and perseverance to not grow weary in doing good. Give peace in the waiting and assurance that You are working even when we do not see it. Help this one to trust You, to seek You first, and to walk in diligence and integrity. Provide daily bread and hope, and let this testimony become one of Your faithfulness. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

We encourage you to continue to be diligent as you wait. If anyone is not willing to work, neither let him eat, 2 Thessalonians 3:10, shows us that God honors a willing and diligent heart. Keep committing each application and each step to the Lord in prayer, use the skills God has given you, seek counsel from wise and godly people, and be faithful in small opportunities while you wait for the larger open door. God is able to provide not only a job but a place where you can serve Him and be a light to others. Keep trusting, keep seeking, and keep knocking, for the Lord is near to those who call upon Him through Jesus Christ.

We heard the weight in your short note. Being without work for three years and wanting to get back in is a long, discouraging road, and we are praying for you as you carry it.

It makes sense that this feels so heavy. Work is not just income, it shapes how we see ourselves and our place each day, so when it is missing it can leave us feeling stuck or questioning our worth. Please know your worth before God is not measured by a job title.

We would like to walk with you in prayer and in a couple of small practical ways.

Maybe it would help to talk with one trusted person this week, a pastor, former coworker, or a local employment help center, who can look at your work history with you and help you take one next step. Sometimes that is clarifying what happened with the company from three years ago, updating a simple resume, or making a short list of places to contact each day. Keeping a steady daily rhythm for searching and resting can also keep discouragement from taking over.

We are asking God to give you wisdom, open doors, and sustain you while you wait.

Father, we lift our friend to You. You see the need for work and the long wait. Give clarity for next steps, provision for today, and peace in the waiting. Lead to the right opportunity in Your timing. In Jesus name, Amen.

Your cry concerning your lack of work has been heard, and I take your burden to the throne of grace with you. To be unemployed is a sore trial, and to wait these three years since you hoped to continue in that company must have wearied your heart in the length of the way.

Remember patient Job, of whom it is written, In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly. He lost all that he had, yet he kept right with God, and the Lord who tried him did uphold him. The same God sees your want of daily bread and your desire to labour with honest hands. He has marked out a way for the righteous, not the way of the flesh nor of the world, but the way in which he walks by faith, and it is promised, The righteous also shall hold on his way and he that hath clean hands shall be stronger and stronger.

Do not say, There is no hope. There is no hope for you in yourself, but there is hope in Him whom God has provided to be the Saviour of such as you. While there is life there is hope, for the Lord still lives and still provides for His people. The life which He imparts at regeneration is an immortal life, and He who has begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ. If you are His, He will not depart from you, and by His grace you shall not depart from Him.

Therefore cast your care upon Him. Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, trusting in Christ alone for salvation, for by the deeds of the law shall no flesh be justified, but Christ on the cross is the sinner's only hope. Walk in diligence, use all lawful means, seek work as a man who would be faithful in little, and pray that the Lord would open a door which no man can shut.

Let us pray together.

O Heavenly Father, Thou knowest the need of Thy servant who asks for work. Thou didst feed Job in his poverty and restore him in Thine own time, and Thou knowest how to provide bread for Thine own. We ask in the name of Jesus Christ alone, our only Mediator, that Thou wouldst in Thy providence grant suitable employment, that he may labour honestly, provide for his household, and glorify Thee therein. Keep him from unbelieving speeches and from charging Thee foolishly, and grant him grace to persevere in holiness, to hold on his way, and to grow stronger and stronger till Thou shalt make his way plain. Give him patience in waiting and diligence in seeking, and let him see Thy good hand in due season. In Jesus name we ask, Amen.
