Help for a survivor

Thiorrin

Disciple of Prayer
I am so sorry you are going through this. Please know you are not alone, and it takes immense courage to leave an abusive situation. I am holding you in my heart and lifting you up in prayer.

---

I am carrying severe anger, pain, and trauma right now. I recently had the courage to leave a very scary, abusive marriage where I faced constant betrayal, control, and manipulation. I had to represent myself to get free, and I am completely exhausted and living in fear. I feel so angry about what was done to me, and my mind won't stop racing. Please pray for my absolute physical safety and protection. Please pray that God removes this heavy anger and torturous pain from my heart, and replaces it with His peace. And please pray for justice, and for the strength to rebuild my life as a survivor.

We are holding you in our hearts and lifting you up in prayer together, and we thank you for sharing this with us with such courage. We grieve with you over the severe pain, betrayal, control and manipulation you endured, and we honor the immense courage it took to leave that very scary and abusive marriage and to represent yourself to get free. You are not alone, you are deeply seen and loved by God, and what was done to you was wrong. Marriage is ordained by God to be a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman that reflects the sacrificial love of Christ for His church Ephesians 5:25, and abuse, control and betrayal violate that holy design. The Lord does not delight in violence Psalm 11:5 and He is grieved by the breaking of covenant Malachi 2:16, and He is near to you now in your exhaustion and fear.

The Lord is close to the brokenhearted, and saves those who are crushed in spirit Psalm 34:18. He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds Psalm 147:3. God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble Psalm 46:1, and when you dwell in the secret place of the Most High you will rest in the shadow of the Almighty Psalm 91:1. We pray you will feel His presence as your safe shelter now while your mind is racing and your heart is heavy.

We understand the severe anger and torturous pain you are carrying, and God understands it too. Anger at injustice and abuse is a natural response to being sinned against, yet we are called not to let it take root in our hearts. Be angry, and don't sin. Don't let the sun go down on your wrath, and don't give place to the devil Ephesians 4:26-27. We encourage you to pour out all of that anger and pain honestly to the Lord, for He invites you to cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you 1 Peter 5:7. In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:6-7. That peace is not something you must manufacture, it is a gift He will guard your heart and mind with as you bring everything to Him. Justice also belongs to Him. Don't seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God's wrath. For it is written, Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord Romans 12:19. He is a God of justice and He will not overlook what was done Isaiah 30:18, and He is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble Psalm 9:9.

We noticed you asked for prayer to God but did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to gently share why we pray in Jesus' name. It is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father, for Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved Romans 10:9. It is because of what Christ did on the cross for us that we can come boldly to God for safety, healing and justice, and we bring your requests to the Father through Him.

We pray together in Jesus' name for you now. Father, we lift this precious survivor to You and ask in Jesus' name for Your absolute physical protection over her. Cover her under Your wings, keep her safe from all harm and from the one who harmed her, and let no weapon formed against her prosper. The Lord will keep you from all evil. He will keep your soul Psalm 121:7. Be faithful to guard her from the evil one 2 Thessalonians 3:3 and command Your angels concerning her. Lord, we ask You to lift this heavy anger and torturous pain from her heart. You see every tear and every wound, and we ask You to heal her heart, quiet her racing mind, and replace the turmoil with Your perfect peace that surpasses all understanding. Give her rest, give her sleep, give her moments of stillness in Your presence. We ask for Your justice to be done, that truth would be revealed and righteousness would prevail, while You keep her heart free from bitterness. And Father, give her supernatural strength to rebuild her life as a survivor. Fear not, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness Isaiah 41:10. When she feels weak, let Your grace be sufficient for her, for Your power is made perfect in weakness 2 Corinthians 12:9. Restore what has been stolen and lead her step by step into wholeness and hope for the future, in Jesus' name we pray, amen.

We encourage you to continue to guard your safety with practical help from trusted people, a safe community, and if needed local authorities or a safe shelter, and to lean on a Bible believing church family who can walk with you. We also encourage you to seek a trusted Christian counselor who understands trauma to help you process this pain over time, for healing is often a journey and God works through His people to bring comfort. You are precious to God, you are not defined by what was done to you, and He has a future of hope for you. The Lord will be your strength and your portion, and as you keep bringing your fear and anger to Him, He will gently replace it with His peace day by day. We are continuing to pray for your safety, your peace, your justice and your rebuilding, trusting that He who began a good work in you will be faithful to complete it.

We are holding you in prayer and we thank you for sharing something so painful. Leaving an abusive marriage, especially having to represent yourself, is exhausting and frightening, and it makes sense that anger and pain feel so heavy right now and that your thoughts are racing.

We are praying specifically as you asked: for your physical safety and protection, for God to lift that heavy anger and bring His peace into your heart, for justice, and for strength day by day as you rebuild.

One steady next step that often helps survivors is to stay connected to safe support as you heal. If you can, consider reaching out to a trusted advocate, counselor, or pastor in person, and if the racing thoughts or trauma feel overwhelming, please also talk with a medical or mental health professional alongside prayer. You do not have to carry this alone, and having one or two safe people who know where you are can make a real difference.

Father, we lift her to You in Jesus name. Cover her with Your protection and keep her safe. Soothe the anger and pain she carries and quiet her racing mind with Your peace. Give her wisdom for each decision, provide for her needs, and lead her to caring help as she rebuilds her life. Amen.

Your cry in this season of deep sorrow and exhaustion has been heard, and the Lord knows the weight you carry. To leave a place of betrayal, control and fear requires great courage, and that you are wearied and your thoughts will not rest is no wonder. The God who sees you in your fear and weariness is not distant from your pain, and He is near to those who are broken in heart.

There is a peace which the world cannot give and cannot take away, a perfect peace which the prophet speaks of when he says, you will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. This peace does not come from forgetting what has happened, nor from the storm ceasing at once, but from the blood of Jesus which whispers peace within. When conscience is burdened and the heart is wounded, that blood speaks a better word, for the chastisement of our peace was upon Him and with His stripes we are healed. Christ has made peace by His blood, and that peace with God becomes peace within the soul as we trust Him.

He is the physician for the wounded heart. It is written, He heals the broken in heart and binds up their wounds. The least thing about Christ has healing virtue, as the leaves of the tree of life are for the healing of the nations. A touch of personal faith brings peace to the soul, not because our faith is strong, but because He to whom we look is full of compassion and power to heal. He bows Himself over the mangled heart with no thunder in His hands and no anger in His eyes, to bind and to restore. He can breathe into your soul even now a peace which passes all understanding, and change the very springs of your life till what was bitter is made sweet.

Let us pray for you before the throne of grace.

O Lord our God, our refuge and defender, look upon Your servant in her fear and exhaustion. Keep her in absolute safety under the shadow of Your wings. Set a hedge about her and let no harm come near her. Let Your presence be her guard by day and by night, and give wisdom to all who can help her to keep her secure.

Lord Jesus, great Physician, touch this wounded and angry heart. You know the pain and trauma that have been inflicted, the betrayal and manipulation that have torn and wearied the soul. Remove this heavy burden of anger and torturous pain, not by hardening the heart, but by healing it. Forgive, cleanse and quiet the spirit, and let Your healing leaves be laid upon every wound. Stay her mind upon Yourself and keep her in perfect peace, that though sorrows surge round, there may be calm within because she trusts in You.

Father of all justice and mercy, You hate oppression and You love righteousness. We ask You to let justice be done and to vindicate what is right according to Your perfect will. Give to Your servant strength for each day, clear thought for each step, and hope to rebuild life upon the sure foundation of Your love. Lift her up by Your hand, restore what has been broken, and teach her again to minister and to live in the joy of Your salvation.

We ask this not because we are worthy, but because being justified by faith we have peace with God through Jesus Christ our Lord, in whose name we pray. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!
