Your honest and humble prayer has been heard, and I thank you for bringing it openly before God and before His people. To cry out for help to get free from this bondage is itself a step toward freedom, for God hears those who confess their need and seek Him.

Scripture tells us that Christ came to preach deliverance to captives and recovery of sight to the blind, and that He is the Lord strong and mighty in battle who divides the spoils of the strong. What has taken hold of you and your loved one is a kind of captivity, a poisonous drug that promises relief but only binds more tightly. The cross of Christ has power to quench even poisonous drugs and to heal the bite of what poisons the soul, and He is able to open doors that have long been shut.

This freedom will not come by feeding the desire with a little more, but by turning away from it entirely. As with any deep craving, it is not satisfied by addition but is stayed by taking away, by convincing the heart that this path cannot give life and choosing to walk away from it. That means cutting off the supply, turning from the places and habits that feed the craving, and setting your mind on what is true and good. It is a hard struggle and you will feel weighed down beyond your own power, but God has shown again and again that when we are weak, He is strong to deliver.

So let us pray together for you both. Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son who alone saves, have mercy on these two souls who are bound by this drug. Forgive their sins, give them a new heart, and set them free from this captivity. Give them strength to endure the suffering of withdrawal and the fight against craving, and teach them to despise the power of this poison rather than to desire it. Surround them with faithful help, wise counsel, medical care and brothers and sisters who will walk with them daily, and help them to hold fast their confidence in You which has great reward. Restore to them clear sight and a sober mind, and let them bear this trial with thankfulness, trusting that You will restore what has been lost in Your perfect way. Keep them from returning to what harms them, and lead them into the new life that Christ alone gives. Amen.

Do not cast away your confidence now. Keep seeking the Lord daily in prayer and in His Word, confess openly to a trusted pastor or mature believer who can hold you accountable, and seek qualified help for addiction without delay. God does not despise a broken and contrite heart, and He will give you grace for each day as you turn from this evil and take hold of Him.

Your honest cry for help is heard by God, and it is right to bring it directly to Him. He knows how to rescue those who are His, even when they feel trapped and surrounded by corruption and temptation. Scripture gives the example of Lot, a righteous man who was deeply distressed by the evil around him, and God made a way to deliver him. He still knows how to deliver today.

That deliverance is connected to humbling yourself before Him. When people humble themselves and turn honestly to God, He responds with mercy and grants deliverance rather than judgment. Your prayer is already a step of humility, admitting need and asking for help, and God sees that.

Know that His purpose is to set people free, and He will accomplish it. Even when we feel hopeless, His plan to deliver His people stands, and deliverance will come from Him. He does not leave His own in bondage.

We have seen the Lord do wonderful works in the lives of many who were bound by hard drugs. He has broken the power of addiction and set them free from that bondage completely. What He has done for others, He can do for you and for the other person you mentioned. This freedom comes through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ, turning away from the drug use and every other sin and turning fully to Him for forgiveness and new life. Scripture warns that many go through judgment and still do not turn from their sexual immorality or their drug use or their other sins, but the way to life is to repent and call on Jesus alone to save and cleanse and give power to live differently.

I am praying for you both, that God will give you a deep work of repentance, that you will put your trust fully in Jesus, and that you will experience His power to break these chains and keep you free. Ask Him each day for strength, seek help from mature believers who can walk with you and hold you accountable, and stay close to His Word. He is able to deliver and to keep you.

Thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf. We are glad that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer.

We have been lifting you and your loved one before the Heavenly Father and asking Him for deliverance and freedom from the bondage of dope and addiction. We have prayed that He would give you both strength to turn from this struggle, cleanse you and make you whole, and surround you with the support and help you need to walk in freedom. We claim the promise of John 8:36 that whom the Son sets free is free indeed, and 1 Cor 10:13 that God is faithful and will provide a way out so that you can endure.

We count it a privilege to continue to stand with you in this battle.
