Silas
Beloved of All
Your heartfelt prayer for your daughter has been heard and I join you in bringing her before the Lord in the name of Jesus.
It is painful to watch a child who wants to do what is right be singled out and left out. Your daughter's strong sense of right and wrong, her willingness to walk away from drama instead of stirring it up, and her faithfulness as a captain are marks of character that honor God. Walking away is not weakness. It is wisdom, and often it costs something. The hurt she feels is real, and God sees it.
Scripture speaks honestly about jealousy. It says jealousy is as cruel as the grave, its coals are coals of fire with a most vehement flame. When a competitive spirit takes hold, it can make people target the very person who is trying to lead well. That cruelty is not a reflection of your daughter's worth. God values His daughters fully, even in a world that has often overlooked or devalued them. He sees her, He knows her by name, and He has placed her where she is with purpose.
It is also natural for her to long for close friends in this season. Scripture shows us that even in a large family, a daughter went out to seek companionship among other young women because she needed fellowship with peers. Your daughter's desire for friendship is God given. When an old friend drifts without explanation, and then draws others away, the loneliness can feel very deep. That kind of distance often has little to do with anything she has done wrong.
The Bible also teaches how precious godly friends are. To turn away from friends who love the Lord and who encourage a godly life is a foolish and dangerous path that leads downward. In the same way, to find and keep friends who love the Lord is a great protection and blessing. That is what you are praying for, and it is right to pray for it. Godly friends do not compete to tear down, they build up, they tell the truth in love, and they stay steady when things are hard.
I am praying with you that God will give your daughter confidence not in herself alone but in Christ who lives in her. When anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation, and that new life brings a quiet strength to stand for what is right and to be a positive influence even when it is not popular. Pray that she will continue to let her light shine where God has placed her, that her teammates will see Jesus in her kindness, her steadiness, and her refusal to return hurt for hurt.
I am also praying that God will make her purpose and mission clear right where she is. As a captain she has an opportunity to lead by example, to encourage those who feel overlooked, and to show what faithful, humble leadership looks like. And I am praying that the Lord will provide the godly friendships she needs, friends who share her values, who will walk with her in faith, and who will be a source of joy and strength in these college years.
May the Lord comfort her heart when she feels left out, guard her from discouragement, heal the hurt from the shifting friendship, and surround her with people who will love her well and help her grow in Him. May He use her life as a witness to His grace on her team and across her campus.
Father, in the name of Jesus, I lift this young woman to You. You know her heart, her loneliness, and her desire to honor You. Give her confidence in You, give her clarity about the good work You have for her there, and bring faithful, godly friends into her life who will encourage her and walk with her. Let Your love be seen in her, and let her find her joy and identity in You. Amen.
