Such afflictions are indeed a bitter cup, yet they are the medicine of the soul. No chastening seems joyous at the time, but grievous; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who are exercised by it. Your mother's lungs and your father's body are not beyond the reach of the One who formed them. Pour out your prayers like water, and let your tears be the ashes of a contrite heart, entreating the Physician of souls and bodies. Remember that the afflicted members of a household are not alone; the eye cannot say to the hand, "I have no need of thee." When the eyes dim and the feet swell, the whole body groans. Let your care for them be as the hen gathering her chicks, warm and untiring, for such love reflects the tender care of the Master, who ever seeks to draw us close.

Do not trust to your own anxiety, like Peter sinking in the waves, despairing of the Lord's power in the storm of sorrow. Cast this weight upon God, who alone can calm the tumults within and restore health. The blood of the New Covenant, which purifies the inward man, also calls us to seek what is needful for the outward tabernacle, the body. Fasting from rich and harmful fare, quietness, and simple provision often serve the health better than the dainties of kings. Therefore diligently seek skilled physicians, for they are gifts from above, and use the remedies of this world, but do so as those whose hope is not fixed on them, but on Him whose feet all things are placed in subjection. Pray thus: If it be for their healing and the fruit of righteousness, grant it speedily, O Lord; but if not, grant patience and the inward sweetness that makes every bodily grief light and fleeting. Lift up the hands that hang down, and the feeble knees, and make straight paths for your feet, and this very trial will become a harbor of peace, not a shipwreck.

I read your request and want you to know that these needs are being lifted before the Lord. It is clear you care deeply for your parents, and bringing them to Jesus in prayer honors the love you have for them.

What we see in the Gospels is a Savior who healed in remarkably varied ways: sometimes by a word, sometimes with a touch, sometimes over time. One man’s sight returned in stages, while another was simply told to go and would find his healing along the way. That reminds me that God is not confined to a single pattern. Your mother’s lung infection and diabetes, your father’s eyesight and the cluster of issues with blood pressure, swelling, and headaches, none of these are beyond His notice. We can ask boldly for healing, and we do, trusting His compassion and power.

At the same time, Scripture is honest that not every ailment was lifted even for the most faithful. Paul pleaded with the Lord three times over a thorn in his flesh, yet it remained. That doesn’t mean his faith was defective, nor that yours is. Some of the sweetest, most devoted believers I have known carried significant physical burdens all their lives. We cannot explain why some are healed and others are not, but we can sure that God’s ways, though higher than ours, are always good. The lack of an instant miracle is never a sign that He has turned away.

There is, however, a real connection between the prosperity of the soul and the body. Anxiety and bitterness can wear us down, while a thankful heart and deep trust in Christ often bring a measure of peace that strengthens us physically. I encourage your parents, and you, as you walk alongside them, to keep a spirit of gratitude even in the struggle. That doesn’t deny the pain; it just refuses to let the pain define everything. And when healing does come, even gradually, even through medicines or rest, that too is divine. The body’s own restorative processes were crafted by our Creator, and a recovery over weeks or months is still His mercy at work.

Be mindful also of simple, practical stewardship. What we put into the body and how we care for it matters. Good nutrition, cleanliness, proper rest, these are not unrelated to the prayers we offer. I’m not prescribing a diet here, but it’s worth asking whether there are adjustments that could support their bodies as they fight these conditions. Faith and wisdom walk together.

Above all, I would rather any of us face illness with Jesus than be in flawless health without Him. Physical strength fades; eternal life does not. So as we ask for healing, we anchor our hope in the One who has already secured our ultimate wholeness. His body was broken for us, and by His wounds we are healed in the deepest sense, the healing of the soul that lasts forever.

We will keep your mother and father in prayer, asking for their comfort, for wise doctors, for a calming of every symptom, and for the peace that surpasses understanding. And whatever the Lord does in their bodies, may He make your whole family more deeply aware of His presence and love.

We want to thank you for the privilege of standing with you in prayer for your parents. It has been on our hearts to lift them before the Lord, asking Him to bring healing and comfort to your mother’s ### and the ### in her lungs. We continue to pray for your father, that the Lord would restore his ###, relieve his ###, heal his ###, reduce the ### in his feet, and stabilize his ### for lasting good health.

If God has already moved in these situations, we would love to hear a praise report so we can rejoice with you. If the answers haven’t yet come, please know we are still here to intercede on your behalf—simply post your request again, and we will continue to stand in agreement with you before the throne of grace. May the Lord bless you and your family as you seek Him through Jesus Christ, our Healer and Provider. We pray this in Jesus’ Name.
