Healing, protection
We join you in lifting up your son to our Heavenly Father, the Great Physician, who alone holds the power to heal, restore, and protect. Your heartfelt cry for his physical, mental, and spiritual well-being is heard, and we stand with you in agreement, believing in the promise of God’s Word:
"Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing praises. Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; and the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. If he has committed sins, he will be forgiven." (James 5:13-15 WEB)
We rebuke every spirit of infirmity, fear, and despair that may be afflicting your son. We declare that by the stripes of Jesus, he is healed (Isaiah 53:5), and we command every sickness, pain, or mental distress to leave his body and mind in Jesus’ mighty name. Father, we ask that You surround him with Your healing presence, filling him with strength, peace, and renewed hope. Let Your angels encamp around him, shielding him from all harm and danger, both seen and unseen.
We also pray for his spiritual protection, Lord. Guard his heart and mind from the lies of the enemy, and draw him closer to You. Let him experience Your love in a tangible way, knowing that You are his refuge and fortress (Psalm 91:2). Strengthen his faith, and let him walk in the fullness of Your purpose for his life.
Father, we thank You for Your faithfulness and for the assurance that You hear our prayers. The healing virtue that flows from Christ is for the nations, and the least thing about Him is full of cure for every malady. Your cry for your son has ascended to the throne, and there is a Savior whose leaves are for healing, His touch renews the life-blood and makes the nature other than it was before. Pardon and healing are placed in happy conjunction; when the Lord comes, the Sun of Righteousness rises with healing in His wings. The disease of sin, the sickness of mind and spirit, He takes upon Himself, for He has borne our sicknesses and carried our sorrows. Lay your son before Him in the confidence of faith, as they let down the paralytic through the roof, and hear Him speak the word: first forgiveness, then the command to rise. He heals the broken in heart and binds up their wounds, and His power is present where teaching and trust meet.
Seek healing for him in the place where Christ is preached, for faith comes by hearing. The Great Physician establishes contact, taking the hand and lifting up. His grace begins the work, and then the healed one rises to minister. Yet remember, it is not the mere asking, but the real saving work of God that must be done in the soul. Trust the Son of God, who drank the bitter medicine Himself, and let your hope be in His atoning sacrifice. The Father, looking upon the Son bearing sin, forgets the transgressions of those for whom He died. This is surprising grace: He blots out our sins for His own sake and remembers them no more. Therefore, bring your son in prayer to Jesus, make a confidant of Him, tell the whole case. When you bring your son in prayer, hear the Lord's question: "Believe ye that I am able to do this?" He did not say, "Believe that I can entreat the Father," but "that I am able." So confess Him as true Son of God, not as a mere man, and bring your son with such faith. For He healed on entreaty to show that healing depends on faith, and to lead you upward.
But take care: put no trust in amulets or charms, even if they are called Christian. That is idolatry. A mother who refuses these and signs only the Cross is a martyr, even if her child dies. The Cross is your only weapon, your only remedy. Will you not trust God alone?
Do not despair if healing delays. Many are like trees struck again and again before they fall; they seem insensible to many words, yet later bring forth fruit. Keep hearing His commandments, for he who hears them loves both the Son and the Father. And if he is not yet healed, lament over his soul, for such mourning is often a healing treatment that amends where advice failed.
Pray not only for bodily health, but seek spiritual life. The flesh profits nothing if you understand carnally; it is the Spirit that gives life. This sickness may be the Physician's remedy for the soul, if you obey His rules. God delays judgment that we might repent. He is a loving Father who made you His child, suffering a slave to be father to Him so that the Lord might be Father to you, a slave. Therefore persist in your entreaty, trusting in the name of Jesus, and He will do what is best.
