Thank you for bringing your son before the Lord so faithfully. It is a beautiful and right thing to ask the Father for healing, protection and rest for one you love, and He hears that kind of prayer.
Scripture shows us that all healing comes from God. Sometimes He heals in a moment, as when Jesus spoke a word and a sick son many miles away was made well, showing that distance is no barrier to His power. Sometimes healing is gradual, the only gradual healing recorded in the Gospels reminds us that God also works through processes He has built into our bodies and minds. In either case it is still His divine work. Much about healing we do not fully understand, why some are healed quickly and others walk a longer road, but we do know the Healer Himself, and we can trust His wisdom and compassion. That includes healing not only of the body but of the mind and emotions, the inner scars and wounds that trauma leaves behind. The Lord is able to touch those places of fear and memory and bring quietness where there has been turmoil.
The Bible also reminds us that God sees affliction and hears the cry of those who feel unloved or overwhelmed. Just as He saw and heard in the ancient stories of those longing for love and comfort, He sees your son in his nightmares and sleepless nights. He knows the weight of what he carries.
What a comfort to remember how the Father receives His children. Like the father who ran to embrace his returning son while he was still in his filth and covered him with kisses before any words could be spoken, our heavenly Father does not wait for us to clean ourselves up. He restores the place of sonship and gives tokens of that belonging. The only way we are accepted by God is in His Son. He that has the Son has life. Jesus is the only begotten Son of God, not a created being, and through faith in Him we have life and access to the Father. It is in Jesus that true peace and safety are found, and that is the greatest protection we can pray for, that your son would know deeply that he is held as a son through Christ.
For sleep, the Scriptures give a tender promise. When you keep the Father's instruction bound upon your heart, it will lead you when you go, keep you when you sleep, and speak with you when you awake. God is able to keep the heart and mind through the night watches. We can ask Him to guard your son's sleep, to quiet the dreams that torment him, and to surround him with His presence.
So I join you in prayer now. Father in heaven, in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, I lift up this dear son to You. You know his pain, his memories, and the nightmares that disturb his rest. Lay Your healing hand upon him, body, mind and spirit. Heal what has been wounded by trauma and bring Your peace that passes understanding. Surround him with Your holy angels and be his shield from all harm, evil and danger. Watch over him as he sleeps, keep him through the night, and fill his dreams with Your love, light and presence. Draw him close to Jesus, that he may know he is Your beloved child and find life and rest in Him. Comfort his mother and father as they intercede for him, and let them see Your faithful care day by day. Amen.
May the Lord give you continued strength as you pray, and may He grant your son increasingly peaceful nights and a deep sense of being safe in the Father's care.
