Healing prayer

Anonymous

Beloved of All
My friend has struggles with mental health, and even though I haven't known them long, I feel strongly that I needed to pray, and so I have been for a while now. Please pray with me! that they would be healed by Jesus and that they would come to know Jesus! Who brings healing, hope and comes to give true life!

We are so encouraged by your heart for your friend and we join you in lifting them up before the throne of grace. It is a beautiful thing when the Lord puts someone on our hearts to intercede for, even when we have not known them long, and we thank God that you have been faithful to pray.

We know that our God is near to those who are struggling and that He cares deeply about both physical and mental affliction. We are reminded in Psalm 34:18 that Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit, and in Psalm 147:3 that He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds. We also cling to the promise in Isaiah 41:10, Fear not, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. And we rejoice that you have prayed in the name of Jesus, for we know it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and it is only through Him that true healing and salvation come, as it is written in Acts 4:12 There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved, and Jesus Himself said in John 14:6 I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.

We pray together now for your friend.

Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this dear friend to You. You know their struggles with mental health, You see their pain, their thoughts, and their heart even more intimately than we do. We ask that You would bring Your healing touch upon their mind and heart, that You would bring peace where there is turmoil and hope where there is despair. We pray that You would guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus as promised in Philippians 4:7. Lord, we ask most of all that they would come to know Jesus as Savior and Lord, that they would experience the true life He came to give, for Jesus said in John 10:10 I came that they may have life, and may have it abundantly. Open their eyes to Your love and truth, draw them to Yourself, and let them know that if they confess with their mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in their heart that You raised Him from the dead they will be saved as You promise in Romans 10:9. Give our friend the courage to seek You and surround them with Your comfort and with people who will point them to You. And Father, we pray for the one who has been interceding, strengthen their faith, give them wisdom to love their friend well, to speak the hope of the gospel with gentleness and to continue steadfast in prayer.

We encourage you to keep praying without ceasing and to continue to be a light to your friend. Share the hope you have in Jesus as God gives you opportunity, listen with compassion, and gently point them to the Word of God which brings life. Continue to cast all your worries for your friend on Him, because He cares for you as we are told in 1 Peter 5:7. We trust that God hears our prayers together and that He is working even now, and we will continue to stand with you in prayer for complete healing and for salvation in Jesus name.

We are so thankful you brought your friend to us in prayer. It says a lot about your heart that even though you have not known them long, you have felt this steady nudge to keep praying for them. We want to keep praying with you.

Caring for someone who is struggling with mental health can feel tender and sometimes heavy, especially when you are still getting to know them. Your faithful, quiet prayers matter more than you may see. God hears each one, and He loves your friend even more than you do. Continuing to bring them before Jesus, who brings healing and hope and true life, is a beautiful way to love them.

A couple of gentle ways to keep supporting them as you pray:

Keep your prayers simple and consistent, asking God for healing, peace, and for your friend to come to know Jesus personally. And stay a steady, kind presence. Listening without trying to fix everything, and letting them know you care, can mean a lot. If their struggles are impacting daily life, it is also caring to gently encourage them to connect with a trusted pastor, counselor, or medical professional alongside prayer.

Father, we lift this dear friend to You. You see their struggles and You know them fully. We ask for Your healing touch, Your peace to guard their mind and heart, and Your love to draw them closer to Jesus. Give our friend wisdom to know how to love and support them well, and give this friend hope and life in You. In Jesus' name, amen.

Thank you Heavenly Father for blessing us with another day, and for all you do for all of us. All glory and honor belongs to you Father. I lift this prayer up on your glory Father God and ask that you grant your perfect will. In Jesus name I pray. Amen

“But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him.”

‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭17‬:‭7‬ ‭NIV‬‬

How kindly has the Lord laid this burden upon your heart, to pray for one whom you have known but a little while. It is the Spirit's own work when love is stirred to intercession, and we will most gladly pray with you.

You ask rightly, that your friend would be healed by Jesus and would come to know Jesus, who alone brings healing and hope and true life. The Scriptures teach us that Jesus Himself is the Tree of Life, and it is written that the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. There is an abundance of healing power in Jesus Christ and His salvation. Not only is His fruit sweet and nourishing, but the leaves, the little things as it were about Christ, are full of healing virtue. Until the glory life begins, the abiding power of those healing leaves keeps the soul in health.

We are reminded also that pardon and healing are one. When Jesus healed the sick of the palsy He said, Son, be of good cheer, your sins are forgiven you. The Sun of Righteousness has risen with healing in His wings, and when the Lord comes and dwells with a soul, that soul need no longer say, I am sick, for He has begun a work which shall make us whole without spot or wrinkle. We are on our way to eternal health when we are in Christ, for we have within us the life which shall be perfect forever.

Your prayer for your friend to come to know Him is the greatest prayer of all, for salvation is by Divine Grace through faith in Christ Jesus alone. The Scripture says, Whoever believes on Him shall not be ashamed. What is believing on Him? It is trusting in Him, to leave the whole matter of your present and eternal salvation with Him in unquestioning confidence. The Lord Himself cries, Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth. A look does not require a moment, and yet it saves. This is the simple and only way, for beside Him there is none else.

And what a Friend you commend to your friend in this hour of mental affliction. There is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother, and that Friend is the blessed Redeemer, Jesus Christ. He is a Friend who loves at all times, yea, who loved us before there was any time. In prosperity and in poverty, in health and in heaviness of mind, He sticketh closer than a brother, having given His heart's blood for us. He will not forsake those who trust Him, and He draws near to the sorrowful and the heavy laden.

Let us pray together then. O Lord, Sun of Righteousness, lay Thy healing hand upon this dear one who struggles in mind and spirit. Thou knowest the darkness and distress which we cannot fully see. Grant relief, grant peace, grant such healing as seemeth good in Thy perfect wisdom, and above all grant the healing of pardon through faith in Christ. Enable this soul to look unto Jesus and be saved, to trust in Him alone and not be ashamed. Reveal Thyself as the Friend of sinners, the Friend who loves at all times, and bring true life, even eternal life, to this heart. Sustain also the one who intercedes, and make this new friendship a means of grace to both.

Continue to pray, and continue to point your friend gently to Christ in word and in deed. Be a faithful companion to them, and where there is deep distress of mind, encourage them also to seek wise and loving help from those the Lord has gifted to care for such needs, even as you keep pointing them to the Great Physician. The Lord hears the cry of faith, and His honor is engaged to save the meanest of His sheep who look to Him.
