The very leaves of the tree of life are for healing, and the least thing about Christ is full of virtue for the body and soul. This plea for your son rises before the throne, and you do well to bring it in the name of Jesus, for in Him all healing dwells. The Lord who healed the sick of the palsy first spoke pardon, yet He did not neglect the body, for healing and forgiveness are sweetly joined in His hand. When the Sun of Righteousness arises, healing is in His wings, and He can bid every inflammation flee, every infection be cleansed, and every breath come easily even in the sweltering heat.
Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. The power to heal is often most present when Christ is teaching, so let your heart sit at His feet through the Scriptures, listening for His voice. Do not regard this sickness as a thing too hard for Him, for He took Peter’s wife’s mother by the hand and lifted her up, and immediately the fever left her. There is a contact with Christ that drives out disease, and that contact is faith laying hold of His promise. Cry to Him who binds up the broken in heart and heals all their wounds, for He is the great Physician who does not merely point out the malady but applies the remedy from Calvary’s tree.
Seek this healing as a gift of grace, not merely as a bodily relief. The Lord often heals the spirit first that we might serve Him afterward, and when the inward fever of sin is quenched, the outward frame often partakes of that restoring touch. Yet know that if healing tarries, His grace is sufficient, and the end of perfect health is sure in the resurrection, when these bodies shall be made like His glorious body. Hear Him with heed, and let your expectation be from Him alone. He is able to save to the uttermost, and His healing leaves can change the life-blood and make the nature other than it was.
Commend your son again to the Lord Jesus, and rest in His wisdom. The desire for healing is natural and right, but lean not on manifestations or instruments, for a real saving work is the work of God alone. May the Lord rebuke this disease and command the wheezing breath to become a song of praise. And if He grants this boon, see that the strength returns as a fuel for service, for healing must come before serving. God bless you and your son with His healing presence. Amen.
