Healing for my back

Please pray for healing for my back. I hurt my back at work today. Also, please pray for peace at home. My wife was making things harder today at home because my back was hurting. I think she’s a narcissist. She was yelling at me for dropping water on the ground because I was having trouble pouring water, and she was yelling at me for other things too. She keeps talking about another man, too. Imagine working hard for your family, and your wife does everything to try to stop you from doing it. Then, when I am not working, she complains. She seems to just want to have the upper hand so that she has a reason to leave me. That’s how it feels.

We have heard your request and we join with you in seeking God's will together in Jesus name for healing for your back and for peace in your home and your marriage.

We first want to gently point out that your request does not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We want to remind you that it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God and it is only by His name that we can be saved. Jesus said in John 14:6, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And in Acts 4:12 we are told there is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. If you have not already done so, we encourage you to confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, for with the heart one believes resulting in righteousness and with the mouth confession is made resulting in salvation as in Romans 10:9. It is through Jesus that our prayers are heard and our healing and peace can come.

We pray for your back. The Lord sees your hard work for your family and He knows the pain you suffered at work today. We ask Him to touch your body and bring healing, for He is the Lord who heals us as in Exodus 15:26 and we are healed by His wounds as in Isaiah 53:5. We pray as in Jeremiah 30:17 that He will restore health to you and heal your wounds, and as in James 5:15 that the prayer of faith will heal the sick and the Lord will raise you up. We also encourage you to seek proper medical care and to allow time for rest as God gives wisdom to physicians and calls us to steward our bodies well, and we pray He will provide for your needs while you recover as in Philippians 4:19.

We also lift up your marriage and your home, for we believe in the sanctity of marriage as a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman that God has joined together and that no man should separate as in Matthew 19:6. Marriage is to be honored and kept pure as in Hebrews 13:4. We hear your hurt when you describe your wife yelling at you when you were struggling to pour water and yelling at other times, and when you feel she makes things harder whether you are working or not. We encourage you not to hold onto bitterness or to be quick to label your wife, even with a word like narcissist, but to guard your heart against resentment. We are called to let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander be put away from us, and to be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other as God also in Christ forgave us as in Ephesians 4:31-32. A gentle answer turns away wrath as in Proverbs 15:1, and love is patient and kind and bears all things as in 1 Corinthians 13:4-7. We as husbands are called to love our wives as Christ loved the church and gave Himself for her as in Ephesians 5:25 and not to be bitter against them as in Colossians 3:19, while wives are called to respect their husbands, and both are called to dwell with understanding as in 1 Peter 3:7.

We must also lovingly address what you shared about your wife keeps talking about another man. This is serious before the Lord. To entertain another man in heart or conversation while married dishonors the marriage covenant. God has commanded in Exodus 20:14 you shall not commit adultery, and the Lord calls us to be faithful and to guard our hearts and our marriages from even the appearance of unfaithfulness. If there is emotional affection or attention given to another man, that needs to be repented of and forsaken, and we pray your wife will turn from that and that you both will choose faithfulness and purity. We also encourage you not to assume her motives that she wants the upper hand to leave you, but to commit your marriage to the Lord who hates divorce as in Malachi 2:16 and who desires reconciliation and peace.

We pray together for you now. Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this brother to You. Touch his back and bring Your healing power upon him, ease his pain, restore his strength, and grant wisdom to those caring for him. Grant him rest and provision and let him feel Your nearness as in Psalm 34:18 that You are near to those who have a broken heart. Pour out Your peace upon his home that passes all understanding to guard his heart and mind in Christ Jesus as in Philippians 4:6-7, and let Your peace rule in that home as in John 14:27. Soften both hearts in this marriage, help this husband to love his wife with patience and grace even when hurt, and help his wife to show respect and kindness and to turn away from any thought or talk of another man and to honor her marriage vows. Teach them to speak to one another with gentleness, to forgive as You have forgiven us, to seek counsel from godly pastors and to pursue unity and not division. Give this brother wisdom as in James 1:5 to know how to communicate, how to set healthy and godly boundaries, and how to trust You with his family and his work. We ask that You would restore what has been strained, strengthen this marriage to honor You, and let Your will be done in their lives. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

We encourage you to continue to pray, to read the Word daily, to speak with a trusted pastor or biblical counselor about both your injury and your marriage, and to invite your wife to pray with you and seek help together. Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you as in 1 Peter 5:7, and remember that God is your strength as in Isaiah 41:10. We are standing with you for healing, for peace, and for a marriage that is restored and made strong in the Lord.

We were sorry to read about your day, hurting your back at work and then coming home to more hurt instead of rest. Working hard for your family and feeling criticized when you are already in pain is discouraging, and it makes sense you would feel worn down and on edge about the future.

We are praying for you, for relief and healing in your back and for more peace in your home.

For your back, since this was a work injury and you are having trouble with everyday tasks like pouring water, please do reach out promptly to a medical provider or urgent care and follow your workplace's process for reporting the injury, alongside our prayers for you. Getting checked quickly can also give you clear guidance on what to do next.

At home, when pain and tension are both high, even small moments can turn into arguments. When you have a little space and are not in the middle of a conflict, it may help to share briefly with your wife how the pain is affecting you and to ask a trusted pastor or mature couple you both respect to walk with you both. You do not have to sort all of this alone.

We pray for you now. Father, we lift our brother to You in Jesus' name. Please bring healing to his back, ease his pain, and give wisdom to those caring for him. Bring calm to his home, guard his heart from discouragement, and lead him and his wife toward understanding and kindness. Give him rest, strength for work, and clear next steps. In Jesus' name, amen.

Lord, please bring healing to this man's back after his injury at work. Grant him relief from pain and restore his strength. Lord, please bring peace to his home. Soften his wife's heart, remove any bitterness or cruelty, and protect him from the hurtful words and actions he is enduring. Give him wisdom, patience, and Your comfort as he carries the weight of providing for his family. Surround him with Your peace and remind him that he is not alone. Amen.

Your burden has been brought before the Lord and we have made prayer for you in your affliction.

We are grieved to hear of the hurt to your back at your labour, and of the trial that has followed you into your own home. The Lord is He who healeth the broken in heart and bindeth up their wounds, and with His stripes we are healed, for the chastisement of our peace was upon Him. There is a Tree of Life whose leaves were for the healing of the nations, and a word of His, coming home to the heart as His, brings healing to head and heart and conscience. We have asked the great Physician to lay His hand upon your body, to ease your pain and to restore your strength, and to give skill to any physicians whose help you seek, for we would pray that you seek proper care for this injury from your work.

We have prayed also for peace in thy borders, for He maketh peace in thy borders and filleth thee with the finest of the wheat. Perfect peace is the portion of him whose mind is stayed upon the Lord, because he trusteth in Him. When sorrows surge round and when burdens lie heavy upon the beloved ones at home, that peace which passeth all understanding is still to be had by looking to Jesus and trusting His blood and righteousness. Come and lie at His feet and cry, I will not depart until Thou speak peace to me, and He will say, Thy faith hath saved thee, go in peace.

Concerning your home, we hear the sharpness of your sorrow. To labour faithfully for your family and then to be met with harsh words when your body fails you, and to hear talk of another man, is a deep wound indeed. We do not take lightly the pain of being yelled at for infirmity, nor the fear that your wife seeks cause to leave. Yet we would point you to the holy covenant of marriage, which God hath ordained as a lifelong union of one man and one woman, to be kept in honour and faithfulness, forsaking all others. We cannot ask God to bless any turning aside from that covenant, but we do ask Him to bless faithfulness, repentance and reconciliation within it.

We have prayed for your wife, that the Lord would soften and renew her heart, and turn her from any thought of unfaithfulness, and give her compassion in your weakness. We have prayed for you, that the Lord would give you grace not to render railing for railing, but to bear your sorrow with Christ, to be patient and gentle under provocation, and to love your wife as Christ loved the Church, even when it is hard. Seek the Lord together if she will hear you, and seek the counsel of faithful pastors or elders in your church who may walk with you both and speak the Word of God plainly and lovingly to you.

May the Lord keep you in perfect peace as you trust in Him, and may He bring healing to your back and healing to your home, that your household may know the quietness of His presence and the joy of sins forgiven. We will continue to bear you up before the throne, that you may prove the Gospel's healing power both in body and in soul.
