Healing, anxiety

You ask for healing of body and deliverance from anxiety, and this request is not a small thing. Yet consider well the root of such afflictions. For a fearful thing is sin, the ruin of the soul, and oftentimes its excess overflows and attacks the body also. Therefore Christ, after He healed the paralytic, gave this warning: “Behold, thou art made whole; sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee.” So while we rightly seek the mercy of God for our flesh, we must above all seek the healing of the soul.

Anxiety is a scourge, a bitter slavery, like the brickmaking of Egypt. For as they toiled for the king of the Egyptians, so do we toil for the devil when we are consumed by worldly cares, and we are scourged with far more grievous stripes. We are full of fear, in anxiety, in trembling. But if we will groan and look up to God, He sends not Moses or Aaron, but His own Word, and compunction, to bring us forth from that vain slavery. Do not imagine that freedom comes from the absence of hardship; it comes when the heart cleaves to God and despises all earthly things. For what if you are freed from anxiety, yet remain soft and unmanly, careless in hearing the word? One virtue alone is not sufficient; it requires careful hearing, continual recollection, fortitude, and deliverance from all worldly attachments.

The Lord Jesus, when He touched the body of Peter’s wife’s mother, not only quenched the fever but gave her back perfect health at once. This He does for those who seek Him with faith. Yet do not seek the body’s ease more than the soul’s cure. Sometimes God permits the body to be scourged so that the soul may be healed, as a physician uses external cautery when internal remedies fail. Therefore, while you pray, examine your conscience. Let the sword of the Spirit strip away every sinful habit, every clinging anxiety born of unbelief. Receive the word of compunction; let it bring you out of Egypt. For though you may have heard many times and remained insensible, one true hearing may bear abundant fruit.

The body of Christ has divers gifts, and not all have gifts of healing, but every member may pray and groan for one another. Therefore cast your care upon Him, and give no more room to the lust of the eyes and the pride of life, which sting like a harlot’s honey that turns to gall. Seek first the kingdom, and in the very act of seeking, the fever of anxiety begins to cool. If He grants you bodily health, walk henceforth with fear and trembling, lest a worse thing befall. If He delays, endure as one who knows that the present light affliction is working an eternal weight of glory. In all, let your request be not only for the body’s repose, but for the soul’s thorough repentance and the peace that surpasses understanding.

Your request cuts right to the heart of something true: the body and the mind are deeply connected. When anxiety takes hold, it doesn’t just live in your thoughts; it can settle into your chest, your stomach, your muscles. It can create a cycle where the mind stirs up the body, and the body’s distress feeds the mind. But this very connection you’re feeling is also an open door for God’s grace to move.

The life God gives us through Christ is meant to flow through our whole being. Too often we imagine our spiritual life as one thing, and our physical health as something entirely separate. But Scripture doesn’t divide us that way. When Matthew looked at the healings Jesus performed and saw them as a fulfillment of Isaiah’s words, “with his stripes we are healed,” he revealed that the suffering of Christ reaches into our physical bodies. So you are not being too earthly or unspiritual by bringing your body before the Father. His love for you includes the flesh and blood you live in right now.

Anxiety so often comes when the body’s perceived needs and fears become the loudest voice, and the mind gets pulled under their tyranny. It feels like a war inside, a constant inner turmoil that wears you down. But the wisdom that comes from above is first pure, then peaceable. God wants to settle that turmoil by putting your spirit back in its rightful place, in fellowship with Him, no longer dominated by what the body is screaming. When your inner being is anchored in that peace, the body often follows. We are learning more all the time that what goes on in your heart and mind can literally change your body’s chemistry. Bringing your anxiety to God isn’t just a mental exercise; it’s a step toward physical restoration.

Right now, your experience in this body may feel very isolating, as if you are the only one hurting. But you are not alone. You are a member of a larger body, the body of Christ. When one part suffers, we are called to feel it together. Your cry for deliverance is joined to the prayers of others, and your healing is something the whole body can rejoice in. You have a vital part to fill, and your wholeness matters far beyond just yourself.

Present your body to Him afresh, not as a source of torment, but as a living sacrifice. Tell Him plainly, “Lord, here is my body. Use it for Your purposes. Let it be a temple where Your Spirit dwells, not a house of fear.” Sin and its effects, including anxiety, shall not have ultimate dominion over you, for you are not your own; you were bought with a price.

So receive that peace now, the very peace Jesus granted his disciples. It is a peace that passes human understanding, a peace you can have even while physical symptoms still clamor for attention. As you fix your mind on the Spirit, you will find life and peace. May that peace, which comes from confidence that God is in control, guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus, quieting the anxiety and bringing healing to your body.

We want to thank you for the privilege of standing with you in prayer these past days. It has been our heart’s joy to lift your request for healing in your body and freedom from anxiety before our Heavenly Father. We have prayed in faith, believing that God hears and answers according to His perfect will and timing.

If the peace of Christ has begun to guard your heart and mind, or if you’ve sensed His healing touch in any way, we would love to hear your praise report so we can rejoice together with you. If, however, the burden still feels heavy and the answer seems distant, we encourage you to post your request again. We are committed to continuing in prayer with you, trusting that God is working even when we cannot see it.

May the Lord strengthen you as you press into Him, drawing near to His presence where perfect peace is found. We pray that His comfort would surround you, His healing power would flow through you, and His grace would sustain you in every moment. We stand with you in faith, believing that God is able to do immeasurably more than we ask or imagine.

In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
