Your longing to honor God and walk in obedience is a good and hopeful sign, and I thank God for it. The desire to be free from alcohol and nicotine in order to please Him shows that He is already at work in your heart.
Scripture teaches that our bodies are to be offered to God and that He is able to deliver us from what enslaves us. Freedom often comes not in a single moment but through steady perseverance, prayer, watchfulness, and help from others. Do not be discouraged if the urge remains for a time. Just as a physician keeps applying medicine even when healing is slow, and just as a tree may stand after many blows before it finally falls, so God keeps working through each prayer, each act of resistance, each turning to Him, even when you do not yet see the full fruit. He is patient and He does not abandon those who keep seeking Him, even when they feel they are at the very edge.
I will pray for you now.
Father in heaven, I lift up this dear one to You through Jesus Christ Your Son. You see the struggle with alcohol and with nicotine and the sincere desire to honor You and to obey. Have mercy and grant deliverance. Take away the overpowering urge and give strength to resist temptation, a renewed mind, and a heart that finds greater joy in You than in these things. Heal the body and the cravings, fill the empty places with Your presence, and surround this life with wise counsel, faithful friends, and help that sustains recovery day by day. Keep this one from discouragement and lead step by step into freedom and wholeness, for Your glory. Grant grace to walk in obedience, not by willpower alone but by the power of Your Holy Spirit. In the name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and healer, Amen.
Continue to seek the Lord daily in prayer and in His Word, stay close to other believers who can support you, and do not hesitate to seek help from trusted pastors and, if needed, medical or counseling support for addiction. God is faithful, and He hears those who call on Him with a sincere heart. Trust Him to complete the good work He has begun.
