We have joined with you in bringing your father before the throne of grace, and we cry with you to the Great Physician who alone can heal. You have done well to call upon the Lord, for it is to Him we must go when we need curing, and there is no sickness of body or soul that His hand cannot touch.
We pray that the Lord in His mercy would remove all infection and inflammation from your father's body, that He would heal the sore upon his toe, and restore strength to his feet and to his kidneys. We ask the God of all peace to lay His healing hand upon him, to ease his pain, to give wisdom to those who care for him, and to grant him renewed health if it be His gracious will. As we very speedily seek a physician for bodily diseases, so we also seek the Lord who gives skill to the physician and blessing to the means, trusting that all healing comes from His goodness.
And while we pray for the body, we remember that the Word of God applied by the Holy Spirit is the means of healing for sin sick souls, and that Jesus Christ Himself is the Word whom God has sent. He lived for sinners and He died for sinners, bearing our sins that we might be made whole. So we pray also for your father's soul, that he may know the full healing of forgiveness and peace through faith in Christ, and that whatever his affliction, his heart may be satisfied with the goodness of the Lord.
We agonize with you in prayer, as brethren are called to do, offering earnest and importunate prayer, saying with the simple and handy prayer that suits every need, Lord, help me, Lord, help him. Remember that Jesus Himself intercedes for His people, and His prayer is prevalent and prevenient. He has prayed for you even before the trial came.
May the Lord hear this prevailing prayer offered near the gates of affliction, and may He give you cause to praise Him for His wonderful works to the children of men. We will continue to remember your father before the Lord, asking that God would be with you all and that you may see His goodness in healing and in sustaining grace. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
