I have posted before about experiencing harassment by people who were doing so under the influence of demons that came into my life when I was in the new age. Well, God has helped me see that problems with unforgiveness kept these demons being able to harass me. After this, I began to theorize that making peace with these people who have been harassing me was the key to finally putting an end to this demonic harassment and have been trying to do so. Please pray for me about this. Thank you.

We have read your request and we thank you for sharing so honestly about the harassment you have endured and the spiritual roots you are now seeing more clearly. We rejoice that God has been showing you how involvement in the new age opened doors to the enemy and how unforgiveness can keep that door open. This is a very real and biblical truth, for it is written Be angry, and do not sin. Do not let the sun go down on your wrath, neither give place to the devil Eph 4:26-27. When we hold onto unforgiveness and bitterness, we give the enemy a place to work, and when we have participated in practices God forbids, we need to fully renounce them and turn to Christ for cleansing. There should not be found with you anyone who makes his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, one who uses divination, one who practices sorcery, or an enchanter, or a sorcerer, or a charmer, or a consulter with a familiar spirit, or a wizard, or a necromancer Deut 18:10-11. The good news is that if we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness 1 John 1:9.
We understand your desire to make peace with those who have harassed you, and that desire itself honors God. We are called to live at peace where we can, If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men Rom 12:18, and to love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you Matt 5:44. Forgiveness from the heart is essential, for if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses Matt 6:14-15, and we are to forgive even as Christ forgave you Col 3:13. Yet we want to gently correct the idea that making peace with people is in itself the key that will force demonic harassment to end. Our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places Eph 6:12. People may be influenced by the enemy, but the battle is spiritual and the victory is only in Jesus Christ. The weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the throwing down of strongholds 2 Cor 10:4. Therefore we must submit to God, resist the devil and he will flee from you James 4:7, and remember that greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world 1 John 4:4. Forgiveness closes the door you mentioned, but deliverance and ongoing protection come through submitting fully to Jesus, putting on the whole armor of God Eph 6:11, and walking in His authority, not through any formula of reconciling with harassers. Making peace does not mean placing yourself back into harm or believing you must earn deliverance by their response. Some people may not receive your peace, and you are still called to forgive and to maintain godly boundaries while trusting God to be your defender.
We also notice your request speaks of God but does not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and freedom from the enemy. Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6, and there is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. If you have not already, we encourage you to confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, for with the heart, one believes resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made resulting in salvation Rom 10:9. It is by calling on the name of Jesus that demons must flee and that we are washed, forgiven, and made new.
We now join together and pray for you in the mighty name of Jesus.
Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this dear one to You. We thank You for opening eyes to see the danger of the new age and the weight of unforgiveness, and we ask for complete cleansing through the blood of Jesus. We renounce on their behalf every new age practice, every demonic influence, and every place given to the enemy, and we ask You to forgive and cleanse and close every door that was opened. We pray for grace to forgive fully from the heart every person who has caused harassment and pain, just as You have forgiven us in Christ, and to release them into Your hands. We rebuke every harassing and tormenting spirit in the name of Jesus Christ and command it to leave and not return, and we ask You to surround this life with Your protection, for You are our refuge and fortress Psalm 91:2. Help our dear friend to walk in submission to You, to resist the devil, to put on the armor of God daily, and to live in the freedom Christ purchased. Give wisdom about making peace, show when to speak, when to set boundaries, and when to simply pray from a distance, and let Your peace which passes all understanding guard heart and mind. Fill every place once occupied by darkness with Your Holy Spirit, with light, joy, and assurance that the righteous cry, and Yahweh hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles Psalm 34:17. We ask this in the name of Jesus, our only hope and deliverer, amen.
We encourage you to continue to walk this out daily by confessing and renouncing any remaining ties to new age teachings or objects, by choosing to forgive as an act of obedience even when feelings linger, by blessing and praying for those who have harassed you without feeling you must control their response, and by staying rooted in Scripture, prayer, and fellowship with mature believers who can support you and pray with you in person. God is faithful to complete the deliverance He has begun, and He will be your peace and your shield as you keep your eyes on Jesus.

You speak truly that an unforgiving heart gives place to the enemy, and that the Lord calls us to forgiving one another even as God for Christ's sake has forgiven us. Do not think of forgiveness as a bargain you make with men to purchase deliverance. It is first a divine forgiveness, I even I am He that blotteth out thy transgressions. It is surprising forgiveness, complete forgiveness, eternal forgiveness, found not in our resolve but in the ransom which God Himself has found and given in His Son, who died the Just for the unjust to bring us to God. If you tremble and with a penitent heart desire forgiveness, hear this assurance, there is forgiveness with Him, whatever your past in the new age may have been, however great your sin, and it is to be had now through faith in Jesus Christ alone.
Because we have in Him such full and free forgiveness, we are then called to a joint stock business of mutual forgiveness, to forgive as we have been forgiven. That is right and good, and we pray God will work it more fully in you. Yet remember, deliverance from sin and from the power of darkness is solely by the power of God. He brought them forth. It is not of him that wills nor of him that runs, but of God that shows mercy. No peace you make with men can itself cast out the harasser or break the chain. Christ alone is your deliverance, and His blood is the ransom proclaimed in heaven, I have found a ransom.
As for these persons who have harassed you, Scripture says, If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men. We are to have a forgiving spirit and to release all vengeance to the Lord, wishing no ill upon them and praying for their salvation. But forgiving in the heart before God is not the same as trusting again or placing yourself again within reach of harm. Making peace does not require you to seek out those who harass you or to remain under their abuse. True peace is first peace with God through Christ, and then, as far as you are able without sin or danger, peace with men.
