Harassment

Dhitlor

Good and Faithful Servant
I have posted before about experiencing harassment by people who were doing so under the influence of demons that came into my life when I was in the new age. Well, God has helped me see that problems with unforgiveness kept these demons being able to harass me. After this, I began to theorize that making peace with these people who have been harassing me was the key to finally putting an end to this demonic harassment but I am getting a little frustrated because although progress has been made in my relationships with some of these people after I reached out to them, some of their evil behavior under the influence of these demons is still there/may still be there. I know I have to be persistent but I get a little bit annoyed. Thank you.

We hear your heart and we rejoice with you that God has been giving you discernment about the root of this harassment and the need to deal with unforgiveness, and we understand your frustration that even after you have taken steps to make peace, some of the evil behavior continues.

We want to encourage you and also gently correct where needed. Your wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places Ephesians 6:12. Those people who harass you are themselves in need of deliverance and salvation, and while their behavior is their own responsibility, the enemy can use them as instruments. We must not confuse the people with the spiritual power behind them.

You are right that unforgiveness gives the enemy a foothold. Scripture warns us, do not let the sun go down on your wrath, and do not give place to the devil Ephesians 4:26-27. Jesus also teaches us, For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses Matthew 6:14-15. We commend you for obeying God in forgiving and reaching out. At the same time we want to rebuke the idea that making peace with people is the key to stopping demonic harassment. If possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men Romans 12:18 is a command we should obey, but our deliverance does not come from whether other people change or respond well. It comes from Jesus Christ alone. Even if you do everything right to make peace, some may still choose evil, because they have not yet repented and believed.

We also must address the open door that came through the new age. The new age is not harmless spirituality, it is participation with deceiving spirits and is forbidden by God. You shall not be found with anyone who practices divination, or soothsaying, or augury, or sorcery Deuteronomy 18:10. We urge you to fully renounce every new age practice, teaching, object, book, meditation, or ritual you were involved with, confess it as sin, destroy what needs to be destroyed as the believers did who brought their books together and burned them Acts 19:19, and close that door completely in the name of Jesus. If any residue remains, the enemy will try to exploit it.

Your frustration and annoyance are understandable, but we encourage you not to grow weary. Let us not be weary in doing good, for we will reap in due season, if we do not give up Galatians 6:9. Forgiveness is not a one time feeling but a daily choice to release the debt as Christ forgave us, bearing with one another and forgiving each other Colossians 3:13. We are called to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us Matthew 5:44, and to not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good Romans 12:21. Vengeance belongs to God, I will repay says the Lord Romans 12:19, so we can rest in His justice while we continue to obey Him.

We noticed your request speaks of God but does not mention Jesus Christ. We must lovingly remind you that it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God and authority over the enemy. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. It is because Jesus died for our sins, was buried and rose again, and because we believe in Him and confess Him as Lord, that we are saved, forgiven, and given power to resist the devil. If you have not fully trusted in Jesus alone for salvation, we urge you to do so today, confessing your sins and turning from all other spiritual paths, for if we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness 1 John 1:9.

Practically, we encourage you to submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you James 4:7. Put on the whole armor of God daily Ephesians 6:10-18, stay in the Word, pray without ceasing 1 Thessalonians 5:17, fast as the Lord leads, and remain in fellowship with a Bible believing church where you can receive prayer and accountability. Greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world 1 John 4:4, and no weapon that is formed against you will prevail Isaiah 54:17.

We pray together for you now. Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before You and we thank You for this dear one who is seeking You and learning to forgive. We ask You to search the heart and cleanse every root of unforgiveness, bitterness and hurt, and to help in fully renouncing every new age influence. We rebuke every demonic spirit that has harassed and oppressed, and we command in the name of Jesus that it must leave and not return. We ask You to fill this life with Your Holy Spirit, with peace that surpasses understanding, with strength and with joy. We pray for those who have done the harassing, that You would convict them, save them, and deliver them, and that You would protect Your child from all harm. Help us to be persistent in prayer and in doing good, to love enemies, to forgive as You have forgiven us, and to trust Your timing and Your justice. Keep us strong in the Lord and in the strength of Your might, and let us walk in victory because of the blood of Jesus. We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, Amen.

We hear how wearying and frustrating this has been for you, and we are grateful for the progress God has already shown you around forgiveness. It makes sense you would feel annoyed when you have taken brave steps to reach out and still see hurtful behavior continue.

One thing that has helped others is understanding that forgiveness and reconciliation are not the same. Choosing to forgive and release someone to God is something we can do in our own heart before Him, and the emotional healing that follows often takes more time and comes in layers. Reconciliation depends also on the other person's response and on whether a relationship is safe and healthy to restore. You can keep forgiving while still keeping wise boundaries if someone continues to act in harmful ways.

It may help to keep bringing those moments of irritation quickly to the Lord as they come up, rather than carrying them, and to walk this out with a steady, trusted pastor or counselor who knows your story and can help you discern when reaching out is helpful and when stepping back is wiser. You do not have to carry this alone.

Father, we lift our friend to You. Thank You for bringing them out of the past and for teaching them to forgive as You forgive. Give them peace in Christ, clear wisdom for each relationship, and protection from discouragement when progress feels slow. Help them rest in Your care and keep growing in freedom. In Jesus name, amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your honest testimony has been heard with prayerful care, and we thank God for the work He has already done in bringing you out of the darkness of the new age into the light of Christ, and in showing you the need to deal with unforgiveness.

It is right and biblical that you have seen unforgiveness as a foothold that must be forsaken, for our Lord teaches us to forgive as we have been forgiven, from the heart and without limit. Yet take care that you do not think of forgiveness or of making peace with others as a technique by which you may compel evil spirits to depart. Deliverance is not of him that wills, nor of him that runs, but of God that shows mercy. He alone has found a ransom, and He alone brings forth His people. As Israel was brought out of Egypt not by their own bargaining with Pharaoh but because the lamb was slain and the Lord Himself brought them forth with silver and gold, so your deliverance from sin and from the power of darkness is solely by the power of God through the blood of Christ.

The Scriptures give you a surer ground than any effort of your own. The Lord has said, They shall not depart from me, and again, They shall never perish. If the grace of God has truly changed you, you are radically and lastingly changed, and He who began a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ. This perseverance is not the removal of temptation or of trial, but perseverance in holiness while temptation still assails. Therefore do not be dismayed that progress has been slow or that some evil behavior still remains in those around you. The righteous shall hold on his way, not because his own strength is sufficient, but because the purpose and promise of God secures him.

Continue then in what is right before the Lord. Forgive freely, as Christ forgave you, not to purchase deliverance but because you have already been delivered by a great salvation from worse enemies than any mortal harasser. Seek peace where you can do so without compromising truth or holiness, and be persistent in prayer, in the Word, and in fellowship with faithful believers who can counsel and watch over you. Put on the whole armor of God, and stand in Christ alone. If harassment continues, seek the help of mature pastors or elders in your local church for wisdom, protection and prayer, and keep no fellowship with the former ways of the new age, but walk in the light.

We will pray that the Lord who found a ransom for you will make your deliverance effectual in every part, that He will keep your heart from bitterness and from weariness, that He will give you grace to persevere without presumption, trusting not in your peacemaking but in His keeping power, and that you may yet sing a song of deliverance, giving all honor to Him who brings His people forth.

May the Lord keep you, strengthen you to hold on your way, and cause you to know more fully that you are secure in Christ, who will not withdraw His gift and will not lose one of His own.
