Harassment

Dhitlor

Beloved Servant
I have posted before about experiencing harassment by people who were doing so under the influence of demons that came into my life when I was in the new age. Well, God has helped me see that problems with unforgiveness kept these demons being able to harass me. After this, I began to theorize that making peace with these people who have been harassing me was the key to finally putting an end to this demonic harassment but I am getting a little frustrated because although progress has been made in my relationships with some of these people after I reached out to them, some of their evil behavior under the influence of these demons is still there/may still be there. I know I have to be persistent but I get a little bit annoyed. Thank you.

We hear your heart and we rejoice with you that God has been giving you discernment about the root of this harassment and the need to deal with unforgiveness, and we understand your frustration that even after you have taken steps to make peace, some of the evil behavior continues.

We want to encourage you and also gently correct where needed. Your wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places Ephesians 6:12. Those people who harass you are themselves in need of deliverance and salvation, and while their behavior is their own responsibility, the enemy can use them as instruments. We must not confuse the people with the spiritual power behind them.

You are right that unforgiveness gives the enemy a foothold. Scripture warns us, do not let the sun go down on your wrath, and do not give place to the devil Ephesians 4:26-27. Jesus also teaches us, For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses Matthew 6:14-15. We commend you for obeying God in forgiving and reaching out. At the same time we want to rebuke the idea that making peace with people is the key to stopping demonic harassment. If possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men Romans 12:18 is a command we should obey, but our deliverance does not come from whether other people change or respond well. It comes from Jesus Christ alone. Even if you do everything right to make peace, some may still choose evil, because they have not yet repented and believed.

We also must address the open door that came through the new age. The new age is not harmless spirituality, it is participation with deceiving spirits and is forbidden by God. You shall not be found with anyone who practices divination, or soothsaying, or augury, or sorcery Deuteronomy 18:10. We urge you to fully renounce every new age practice, teaching, object, book, meditation, or ritual you were involved with, confess it as sin, destroy what needs to be destroyed as the believers did who brought their books together and burned them Acts 19:19, and close that door completely in the name of Jesus. If any residue remains, the enemy will try to exploit it.

Your frustration and annoyance are understandable, but we encourage you not to grow weary. Let us not be weary in doing good, for we will reap in due season, if we do not give up Galatians 6:9. Forgiveness is not a one time feeling but a daily choice to release the debt as Christ forgave us, bearing with one another and forgiving each other Colossians 3:13. We are called to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us Matthew 5:44, and to not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good Romans 12:21. Vengeance belongs to God, I will repay says the Lord Romans 12:19, so we can rest in His justice while we continue to obey Him.

We noticed your request speaks of God but does not mention Jesus Christ. We must lovingly remind you that it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God and authority over the enemy. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. It is because Jesus died for our sins, was buried and rose again, and because we believe in Him and confess Him as Lord, that we are saved, forgiven, and given power to resist the devil. If you have not fully trusted in Jesus alone for salvation, we urge you to do so today, confessing your sins and turning from all other spiritual paths, for if we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness 1 John 1:9.

Practically, we encourage you to submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you James 4:7. Put on the whole armor of God daily Ephesians 6:10-18, stay in the Word, pray without ceasing 1 Thessalonians 5:17, fast as the Lord leads, and remain in fellowship with a Bible believing church where you can receive prayer and accountability. Greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world 1 John 4:4, and no weapon that is formed against you will prevail Isaiah 54:17.

We pray together for you now. Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before You and we thank You for this dear one who is seeking You and learning to forgive. We ask You to search the heart and cleanse every root of unforgiveness, bitterness and hurt, and to help in fully renouncing every new age influence. We rebuke every demonic spirit that has harassed and oppressed, and we command in the name of Jesus that it must leave and not return. We ask You to fill this life with Your Holy Spirit, with peace that surpasses understanding, with strength and with joy. We pray for those who have done the harassing, that You would convict them, save them, and deliver them, and that You would protect Your child from all harm. Help us to be persistent in prayer and in doing good, to love enemies, to forgive as You have forgiven us, and to trust Your timing and Your justice. Keep us strong in the Lord and in the strength of Your might, and let us walk in victory because of the blood of Jesus. We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, Amen.

We hear how wearying and frustrating this has been for you, and we are grateful for the progress God has already shown you around forgiveness. It makes sense you would feel annoyed when you have taken brave steps to reach out and still see hurtful behavior continue.

One thing that has helped others is understanding that forgiveness and reconciliation are not the same. Choosing to forgive and release someone to God is something we can do in our own heart before Him, and the emotional healing that follows often takes more time and comes in layers. Reconciliation depends also on the other person's response and on whether a relationship is safe and healthy to restore. You can keep forgiving while still keeping wise boundaries if someone continues to act in harmful ways.

It may help to keep bringing those moments of irritation quickly to the Lord as they come up, rather than carrying them, and to walk this out with a steady, trusted pastor or counselor who knows your story and can help you discern when reaching out is helpful and when stepping back is wiser. You do not have to carry this alone.

Father, we lift our friend to You. Thank You for bringing them out of the past and for teaching them to forgive as You forgive. Give them peace in Christ, clear wisdom for each relationship, and protection from discouragement when progress feels slow. Help them rest in Your care and keep growing in freedom. In Jesus name, amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

God heal me in every area of my life. Deliver and cleanse me of everything in my life that doesn't honor You. Transform and renew my mind. Bless me with love, power, and a sound mind. Let the mind that is in Christ Jesus be in me. Bless me to have and operate with a God-conscious-solution-focused-heart-mind-spirit-and-attitude. Bless me to have a God Kingdom Culture Mentality. God be with me as a mighty warrior. Let no weapon formed against me prosper. Protect me from all the plans of my enemies and the plans of the enemy of my soul. God, all that I have asked of You, in this prayer, please do the same for the writer of the prayer, all those who love and care about me, and all those I love and care about. God, please forever honor this prayer over each of our lives. God Thank You. Amen, so be it by faith, and by faith, it is so. Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your honest testimony has been heard with prayerful care, and we thank God for the work He has already done in bringing you out of the darkness of the new age into the light of Christ, and in showing you the need to deal with unforgiveness.

It is right and biblical that you have seen unforgiveness as a foothold that must be forsaken, for our Lord teaches us to forgive as we have been forgiven, from the heart and without limit. Yet take care that you do not think of forgiveness or of making peace with others as a technique by which you may compel evil spirits to depart. Deliverance is not of him that wills, nor of him that runs, but of God that shows mercy. He alone has found a ransom, and He alone brings forth His people. As Israel was brought out of Egypt not by their own bargaining with Pharaoh but because the lamb was slain and the Lord Himself brought them forth with silver and gold, so your deliverance from sin and from the power of darkness is solely by the power of God through the blood of Christ.

The Scriptures give you a surer ground than any effort of your own. The Lord has said, They shall not depart from me, and again, They shall never perish. If the grace of God has truly changed you, you are radically and lastingly changed, and He who began a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ. This perseverance is not the removal of temptation or of trial, but perseverance in holiness while temptation still assails. Therefore do not be dismayed that progress has been slow or that some evil behavior still remains in those around you. The righteous shall hold on his way, not because his own strength is sufficient, but because the purpose and promise of God secures him.

Continue then in what is right before the Lord. Forgive freely, as Christ forgave you, not to purchase deliverance but because you have already been delivered by a great salvation from worse enemies than any mortal harasser. Seek peace where you can do so without compromising truth or holiness, and be persistent in prayer, in the Word, and in fellowship with faithful believers who can counsel and watch over you. Put on the whole armor of God, and stand in Christ alone. If harassment continues, seek the help of mature pastors or elders in your local church for wisdom, protection and prayer, and keep no fellowship with the former ways of the new age, but walk in the light.

We will pray that the Lord who found a ransom for you will make your deliverance effectual in every part, that He will keep your heart from bitterness and from weariness, that He will give you grace to persevere without presumption, trusting not in your peacemaking but in His keeping power, and that you may yet sing a song of deliverance, giving all honor to Him who brings His people forth.

May the Lord keep you, strengthen you to hold on your way, and cause you to know more fully that you are secure in Christ, who will not withdraw His gift and will not lose one of His own.

Thank you for sharing this update and for being honest about both the progress and the frustration you are feeling.

It is a good thing that God has shown you the seriousness of unforgiveness and has helped you take steps toward forgiveness. Scripture teaches that we come to God needing forgiveness for much greater debts than anyone owes us, and when we have received that forgiveness through Christ who became our High Priest to make reconciliation for us, we are then trained to have a gentle and forgiving heart toward others. That forgiveness is first a matter between you and God, and it brings great comfort. As one of the homilies reminds us, those who mourn for their sins are blessed not because their sorrow is so great, but because God in His love gives comfort far greater than our labor, and removes our shame and gives us glory through forgiveness.

It is also understandable that you hoped making peace with those who have harassed you would quickly bring an end to the harassment you have experienced since your time in the new age. It is right to pursue peace where you can, and it is encouraging that some relationships have improved after you reached out. At the same time, forgiveness in your heart and reconciliation with another person are not the same thing, and neither is a technique to control the spiritual realm. Deliverance and peace come through Christ alone, not through managing the response of other people. God has put in us the word of reconciliation through Jesus, and He calls us to forgive as we have been forgiven, while also walking in wisdom.

Some people, even when you offer peace, may continue in harmful behavior. That does not mean your forgiveness has failed or that God has failed to work. It often means their own choices remain, and your call is to remain steadfast in forgiveness before God without necessarily placing yourself back in a position to be harassed. Persistence does not have to mean repeated contact with those who continue to do evil. It can mean persistently bringing your hurt to God, asking Him to keep your heart free from bitterness, and asking Him to guard you from the influence of the enemy.

Continue to turn from all new age practices completely and to stay close to Christ through His Word, prayer, and fellowship with faithful believers in your local church. If you have not already, invite a trusted pastor to walk with you in this, so you are not carrying this alone and so you can have wise counsel about when contact is helpful and when boundaries are needed for your safety.

We will pray for you. Father, we thank You for Your mercy that forgives sins and covers them through the blood of Jesus. We ask You to deepen this work of forgiveness and to comfort this one who is mourning and seeking to do what is right. Grant protection from harassment and from every demonic influence, and help this person to rest not in the response of others but in the finished work of Christ. Give wisdom to know how to love others while also walking in safety and peace, and give patience when progress is slow. Fill this heart with Your peace and keep it close to You. In Jesus name, Amen.

Thank you for sharing this so honestly and for the steps you have already taken before the Lord. It is encouraging to hear that God has shown you the danger of holding onto unforgiveness and that you have acted on what He showed you by reaching out to others. That is real spiritual growth.

The Bible shows that unforgiveness is a terrible and destructive thing. It eats away at the heart, it brings mental turmoil and heaviness, and it gives a place for the enemy to keep harassing. To hold a grudge and to brood over a wrong keeps a door open. To have a forgiving spirit, to release the person and the hurt into the hands of God and to walk away from the need to punish or replay the injury, is how that door is closed. Forgiveness does not mean the wrong was not real. It means you are choosing to leave judgment to God and to not be consumed by it any longer.

You are also right to understand that the harassment you describe has a spiritual dimension. Demonic spirits are real, they are intelligent beings, and Scripture shows they often work through the mouths of people, through words, accusations and curses, and when Jesus cast them out they often left with a loud cry, showing they must obey His authority. These same evil powers can gain influence over people so that they do things that cannot be explained in merely human terms. That is why the cruelty and harassment can feel so persistent and so personal.

At the same time Scripture shows that God makes a separation. In the visions of Revelation those demonic locust like creatures were commanded not to harm the grass but only those who did not have the seal of God. Because they are spirit beings you cannot hide from them by closing a door or going into an inner room, but those who belong to Jesus are marked and kept by Him. There is also a place of confinement for evil spirits, a pit or abyss, which one day will be opened and from which hordes will go out, and in the end those powers and the rulers who followed them will be judged. For now God restrains them, and He keeps those who watch and keep their garments clean in Christ. Jesus said blessed is the one who watches and keeps his garments, so that he is not exposed in shame at His coming.

This helps to put your theory in perspective. It is good and biblical to pursue peace as far as it depends on you, and to do what you can to make things right with others. God honors that. But your freedom from demonic harassment does not depend on whether those other people change or become kind. If they continue in evil behavior, that reveals that they may still be under that influence and are making their own choices. You cannot control their response. Your part is to keep your own heart forgiving before God, to not brood over the offense, and to walk in the protection of belonging to Jesus.

It is understandable that you feel frustrated and even annoyed when progress is slow and some of the old behavior remains. That is where perseverance in prayer is needed. Scripture exhorts us to watch with all perseverance and with prayer for all the saints. Keep bringing your heart, your thoughts, and these relationships before the Lord in steady prayer. Ask Him to give you boldness and clarity to speak the truth in love when needed, and grace to step back when speaking will only invite more harm. Keep your garments, which is your walk with Christ, clean through confession, obedience and daily trust in His blood to make reconciliation for iniquity and to bring righteousness.

You do not need to chase every harassing word or try to manage every person. Bring the unforgiveness to Jesus quickly whenever it rises, release the person again to Him, refuse to dwell on the injury, and rest in the fact that Jesus has authority over every demonic power and will in the end gather and judge all such evil. Continue to walk with Him, stay under His seal by faith, and let Him be the one who guards your mind and heart. He is able to keep you in perfect peace even while others remain unchanged, and He will complete the work He has begun in you.

Thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf. We are glad that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer concerning the harassment you have been enduring.

We have been praying with you about the demonic harassment that came into your life during your time in the new age and about the people who have been harassing you under that influence. We thank God with you that He has given you insight to see how unforgiveness was keeping an open door for this harassment to continue, and we rejoice with you that you have taken steps to forgive and to make peace with those who have been harassing you. We understand your frustration and how annoying it can be to see progress in some of those relationships after you reached out, yet still experience some of that evil behavior continuing.

We continue to stand with you in prayer that the Lord will complete the deliverance He has begun in you, that every foothold of the enemy would be closed through the forgiveness we have in Christ as taught in Matt 6:14 and Eph 4:32, and that you would be strengthened to remain persistent in walking in peace and forgiveness even when you feel annoyed. We pray that God will guard your heart from discouragement, that He will draw you closer to Himself, and that He will bring conviction and freedom to those who have been harassing you, for we wrestle not against flesh and blood as it says in Eph 6:12. We pray that as you seek to live at peace with all men as far as it depends on you according to Rom 12:18, the Lord will be your defender and your peace and will put a complete end to this demonic harassment in Jesus Name.

If your request was answered and the harassment has ceased and the Lord has brought full peace and deliverance, please post a praise report and let us all know so we can rejoice with you. If your request does not seem to have been answered and you are still experiencing this harassment and frustration, please post it again as a new request and allow us to continue with you in prayer.

May God bless you as you continue to seek Him through His Son, Jesus Christ.
