We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up your grandson who is struggling with drug addiction. This is a battle that affects not only the body but also the mind and spirit, and we know the pain and fear you must be feeling as you watch him walk this destructive path. The Bible warns us in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, "Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s." Your grandson’s body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, and we must pray fervently for his deliverance from this bondage.
We rebuke the spirit of addiction in the name of Jesus Christ, for it is written in John 8:36, "If therefore the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed." There is no chain that Christ cannot break, no stronghold He cannot tear down. We declare freedom over your grandson, that his mind would be renewed by the power of God’s Word, and that he would turn away from the temporary escape of drugs and toward the eternal hope found only in Jesus.
Father God, we ask You to intervene in this situation. Soften his heart to receive help and surround him with godly influences who can guide him toward recovery. Provide him with the strength to resist temptation and the wisdom to seek accountability. We pray for those who will walk alongside him in this journey, counselors, pastors, and believers who can speak truth and life into him. Protect him from further harm, Lord, and lead him to a place of healing and restoration.
We also lift up your family, as this trial affects you deeply. Give you all patience, wisdom, and peace as you navigate this difficult season. Remind you of Proverbs 3:5-6, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." You cannot carry this burden alone, but God is faithful to sustain you.
If your grandson does not yet know Jesus as his Lord and Savior, we pray that this struggle would lead him to the foot of the cross. There is no true healing or freedom apart from Christ, for He alone can break the chains of sin and death. We declare Romans 10:13 over him: "For whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved." May he cry out to Jesus today and find the redemption and new life that only He can give.
We stand in agreement with you, believing that God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). Do not lose hope, for our God is a God of miracles. Keep praying, keep believing, and trust that He is working even when you cannot see it. If there are practical steps you can take to get him help, such as reaching out to a Christian counselor, a recovery program, or a pastor, we encourage you to do so while continuing to cover him in prayer. The enemy wants to destroy his life, but God desires to give him a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11). We will not stop praying until we see victory in this situation.

The burden of your soul for your grandson is known in heaven, and the cry of a grandmother’s heart pierces the clouds. When the prey is taken by the mighty enemy, when strong drink or the poisons of the street hold a young man captive, it is a fearsome thing. “Shall the prey be taken from the mighty?” Yes, there is One who can rescue, even the Lord Jesus Christ, who has subdued the strong man armed and can release the lawful captive. All human help is vain if the Lord does not help; we may cry with the king in Samaria, “If the Lord does not help you, where can I find help for you?” The arm of flesh fails utterly, but the pierced hand of the Redeemer is stretched out still.
Press this matter in prayer as a mighty wrestler, giving God no rest. When you cannot help it but must groan after deliverance, that very sighing worketh for good. And do not forget to look within your own heart: is there any sin you are harboring that might hinder the blessing? The dearest thing that stands against Christ must be renounced. “Down with you, my sins! Down with you, my lusts!” A clean vessel is fit for the Master’s use. Plead the promise that the redeemed of the Lord shall be delivered, and do not cease your importunity until the answer comes. Help from man is empty; a thousand sacraments and ceremonies and human schemes are but broken reeds. If the Lord does not heal him, no physician can.
Yet you are not without a necessary part to play. Help his weakness; bear with his waywardness; be a nursing mother in the church to him by your tender admonitions and steadfast love. A moral obligation rests upon you to help, for the cry of a perishing soul is a sufficient argument for mercy. You cannot preach, but you can help; you cannot loose his chains, but you can point him to the Liberator. And you may have confidence that Jesus Christ is able to save to the uttermost. He has burst the iron shackles of countless captives and cast out the evil spirit from many a shattered mind. I pray the Holy Spirit to work with you, to bring that poor lad to the end of himself, that he may cry, “God help me, God help me!” The match is struck in the dark hour of despair, and then the light comes. Trust in the Lord for this great deliverance; there is no other helper. May you hear it yet in the courts of the Lord, “This my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found.”
