Thank you for entrusting this prayer to us. It is clear you long for a godly, lasting relationship and a secure future for your boys, and that you are placing these hopes in the Lord’s hands. That is good. At the same time, I want to gently remind you that the deepest, most life-changing relationship you will ever have is the one you share with Jesus Christ. When He sits on the throne of your life, when the vertical axis is firmly in place, everything else on the horizontal plane comes into balance. If we are not careful, even good desires can quietly become demands, and we can become so fixed on what we want that we miss what God is doing right now in our own hearts.

The waiting and the unknowns you face are not signs that God is absent. In fact, the delay may be His mercy, because He intends to give you far more than you are even asking for. He is not a distant observer; He is moved with compassion and longs to draw you into an intimate, personal fellowship with Himself. That fellowship will anchor you whether or not this particular relationship moves forward. The family of God is woven together by a bond that runs deeper than blood, and when two people share that bond through faith in Jesus, it becomes the foundation for everything else, romance, provision, and a blended family. So rather than focusing your prayers on making him see you as his priority, I would encourage you to pray that both of you would prioritize Christ above all. When two hearts are surrendered fully to Him, the rest can fall into place according to His perfect will.

Bring your dreams before the Father, as you have done, but let your peace come from His presence, not from a specific outcome. The same Jesus who reached out and touched the leper can touch this man’s heart and shape him into a provider and a loving stepfather, if that is according to His plan. But He also wants to shape you in the waiting, to make your trust in Him so deep that you can rest even when the path is unclear. Keep close to Him. He is the true Bridegroom, and rejoicing in that reality will sustain you no matter how long the journey takes.
