God’s plan

Your longing for clarity and truth is precious to God, and He hears your prayer for His will to be done. I join you in asking the Father in Jesus name to touch your heart by His Holy Spirit and to lead you into all truth.

Jesus is called the true Light which lights every person who comes into the world, and He said of Himself that He is the Truth. To know the truth is to know Him, and that truth will make you free. God has not left us without light. He has given us His Son, His written Word, and His Spirit, and He promises to give wisdom to those who ask Him with a humble and trusting heart.

Scripture shows that God hides His mysteries from those who trust in their own wisdom and pride, but reveals them to those who remain humble like little children before Him. So come to Him as you are, with humility and openness, ready to receive and to obey what He shows you. Continue in prayer, and also walk in obedience to what you already know is His will, for we need both grace from God and our own faithful response. Prayer without obedience and obedience without prayer are both incomplete, but when we pray and also seek to do His will, He is faithful to guide us.

As you wait for clearer guidance, keep thanking Him not only for what He has done for you but for His goodness to others as well, for thankfulness destroys envy and strengthens love. Hold fast to faith, hope and love, which remain and are greater than any sign or feeling. Stay rooted in Scripture, stay in fellowship with faithful believers, and keep your heart honest before God, for He loves truth in the inner being.

I pray for you now. Father, in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son through whom alone we have salvation, pour out Your grace upon this heart that seeks You. Let Your Holy Spirit bring revelation, understanding and steady guidance. Quiet every confusion and let the light of Christ shine clearly. Grant wisdom to know Your will and courage to follow it, and let Your will be done in this life as it is in heaven. Lead step by step, and keep this heart in Your peace until clarity comes in Your perfect time. In Jesus name, Amen.

Your prayer for understanding and clarity and truth is exactly the kind of prayer God loves to answer, because His heart is to reveal, not to hide. The very word revelation means an unveiling, a taking away of the covering so you can see clearly. It is not a sealed book that you cannot understand. God gave the revelation of Jesus Christ to show His servants what He is doing, and He sent it so that those who belong to Him would know Him better and know His will.

At the center of all that God is revealing is Jesus Himself. When you seek God's plan, you are ultimately seeking a Person. To see Jesus as He relates to His people, as He shepherds and oversees His church, and as He will one day come as King of kings and Lord of lords, is to find the clarity you are asking for. The Father shows us His Son, and through His Son we come to know the Father's will.

That is also God's purpose for your own life right now. The Holy Spirit is at work to form you into the image of Christ, so that your heart learns to respond as He responds, to love as He loves, and to forgive as He forgave. As that work continues, you become His representative in this world, a true and faithful witness of what He is like, just as Jesus was the faithful witness of the Father. Your prayer, Your will be done, Father, is the same prayer Jesus taught us to pray, that God's will would be done on earth as it is in heaven. When your heart is yielded to that, the Spirit can guide you step by step.

If you want a simple key for finding guidance, remember how Scripture itself gives understanding. There are things God has already shown, there are things that are true in the present, and there are things that will be after these things. God will lead you as you stay rooted in what He has already revealed in His Word, walk faithfully in what He has placed before you today, and trust Him with what is still to come. He is righteous and fair in all His ways, and He does not leave His children without light. His Word will light a fire within and give light to your path as you return to it again and again.

So I pray that the Lord will touch your heart with truth and give you the spirit of wisdom and understanding, that you may know the hope of His calling and the inheritance you have as His child. May He make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you, and keep you as you seek Him. As you open the door of your heart to Jesus, He promises He will come in, and He will not cast out anyone who comes to Him. Keep asking, keep seeking in Scripture, and keep trusting the Holy Spirit to make Jesus more clear to you, for in seeing Him you will find the guidance you need.
