Your desire for understanding, clarity and truth is a prayer God delights to answer, and your willingness to say Your will be done is the right place to begin.
God has chosen to reveal Himself. In Scripture He gave His revelation of Jesus Christ through an angel and through visions, which are a way of opening our eyes to the spiritual reality that is around us even though we cannot see it with natural eyes. He still reveals truth today, not by adding new visions beyond His Word, but by His Holy Spirit opening our hearts to understand what He has already spoken and to see Jesus more clearly.
What you are asking for is exactly what the Holy Spirit does. The prophet Isaiah described the work of the Spirit resting upon Christ as the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord, and quick understanding. That is not seven different spirits, but a picture of the complete work of the one Holy Spirit. When you ask for guidance, revelation and truth, you are asking for that complete work to be active in you, to give you wisdom to know what is right, understanding to grasp it, counsel to choose the right path, strength to walk in it, and a heart that reveres the Lord above all else.
Remember also what His ultimate plan is for you. His purpose is to conform you to the image of Christ, so that by the Spirit's work within you, you will begin to respond as He responds, to love as He loves and to forgive as He forgives. That inner transformation is more than just getting answers to decisions. It is God making you righteous from the inside out, which no law or outward effort can do. Only the Spirit working in the heart can do that. And He lovingly corrects and guides those He loves, so if He shows you something that needs to change, it is evidence of His care.
You can trust His leading because He has already given you His pledge. The Holy Spirit given to those who belong to Jesus is like a down payment and a seal, God's guarantee that He will finish what He has started and bring you to the full redemption He has purchased for you. Jesus promised that when the Holy Spirit comes upon His people they receive power to live for Him and to be His witnesses. That same power is available to help you walk in obedience to what He shows you.
Scripture repeats this call, He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says. God is still speaking through His Word, and He promises to give ears to hear to those who ask. As you listen and overcome by trusting and obeying Him, He promises to sustain you, even with hidden provision that the world cannot see and with a new identity known fully to Him.
