🧎🏽‍♂️God Counts Us Worthy of Our Calling, Fulfills Every Good Desire, The Work of Faith in Power, So Christ's Name is Glorified in Us & We in Him

Nochaeld

Beloved
To this end also we pray always, that our God will count us worthy of your calling, and fulfill every desire for goodness and the work of faith with power, so that the Name of our Lord Jesus will be glorified in us, and we in Him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ, 2 Thes 1:11.

We hear your heart’s cry for God’s power to manifest in your life, that His name may be glorified in you and you in Him. Your desire to walk worthy of His calling and to see every good work of faith fulfilled is beautiful and aligns with Scripture. We stand with you in agreement, lifting this before the throne of grace.

The apostle Paul’s prayer in 2 Thessalonians 1:11-12 is a powerful reminder of God’s purpose for His children: "To this end we also pray always for you, that our God may count you worthy of your calling, and fulfill every desire of goodness and work of faith with power, that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ." This passage assures us that God is faithful to complete the work He has begun in us (Philippians 1:6), and that His power is made perfect in our weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9).

Yet, we must also examine our hearts to ensure that our desires and works are truly rooted in faith and aligned with His will. Are we seeking His glory above all else? Are we surrendering our plans, ambitions, and even our "good desires" to His perfect timing and purpose? James 4:3 warns us, "You ask and don’t receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it on your pleasures." Let us humbly submit every longing to the Lord, trusting that He knows what is best for us.

We also want to gently remind you that the name of Jesus Christ is the only name by which we have access to the Father (John 14:6, Acts 4:12). It is through His sacrifice on the cross that we are saved, and it is by His power that we are transformed. If you have not yet placed your faith in Jesus as your Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so today. Confess your sins, repent, and invite Him into your heart. Romans 10:9-10 says, "If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."

Now, let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We thank You for Your faithfulness and for the calling You have placed on each of our lives. Lord, we ask that You count us worthy of this calling, that we may walk in a manner pleasing to You. Fulfill every desire for goodness and every work of faith with Your power, that Your name may be glorified in us and we in You.

Father, we surrender our plans, our dreams, and our ambitions to You. Align our hearts with Your will, and let Your Holy Spirit guide us in all things. Remove any selfish motives or pride that may hinder our prayers, and replace them with a heart of humility and obedience. We trust in Your perfect timing and Your unfailing love.

Lord, we also pray for those who may be reading this and have not yet surrendered their lives to You. Draw them to Yourself, reveal Your love and grace to them, and lead them to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ. May they experience the joy of salvation and the power of Your Holy Spirit working in their lives.

Strengthen us, Father, to live lives that honor You. Let our faith be evident in our actions, our words, and our love for one another. May we be a light in this dark world, pointing others to You.

We ask all these things in the precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

Be encouraged, dear one. God is at work in you, and He will complete the good work He has started. Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith (Hebrews 12:2). Walk in obedience, trust in His promises, and let His power be made perfect in your weakness. You are not alone, He is with you always, even to the end of the age (Matthew 28:20).

We love that you’ve brought this verse before us, it’s a prayer we can all lean into together. What strikes us is how Paul prays this for a whole believing community, not just for isolated individuals. That means every time we gather, encourage one another, or simply go about our day in faith, God is actively counting us worthy of our calling, not because we’ve earned it, but because His grace has placed us securely in Christ. The “work of faith with power” isn’t something we drum up; it’s His life at work in our ordinary moments, turning our small acts of goodness into something that glorifies Jesus’ name.

One simple next step: this week, take a few minutes to pray this very passage over someone else in your church or circle, maybe a friend who’s weary, or a ministry you love. Naming them before God in this way can strengthen your own heart and theirs, even if they never know. And as you go about your days, watch for those little opportunities to do the good you already desire to do, trusting that God is fulfilling it by His power, not your own strength.

Let’s pray:

Lord Jesus, thank You that You count us worthy, not because of our performance, but because of Your grace. Fulfill every desire for goodness in this dear one, and empower every step of faith they take, so that Your name is glorified in their life and they rest in You. Keep them tethered to the truth that You are the one completing the work You began. In Your name, amen.

It is a high and holy prayer this, that our God would count us worthy of your calling, and it is according to His own grace alone. He who calls us to holiness in Christ Jesus is the same who works in us both to will and to do of His good pleasure. We could never be counted worthy by any merit of our own; the axe of conviction must fell all pride, the saw of the law must cut through self-righteousness, and the plane of the gospel must smooth every rough edge until Christ alone is seen as our worthiness. Our union with Him makes us accepted in the Beloved, and God thinks of us in connection with His Son. There is no worthiness but that which is found in Jesus, and it is a blessed thing to be hidden in Him, so that when the Father looks upon us, He sees the righteousness of Christ.

The fulfillment of every good desire and the work of faith with power, these are not left to our feeble strength. It is Christ Himself, the power of God and the wisdom of God, who must accomplish it. The love of Christ constrains us; His presence with His servants is the secret of all fruitful labor and holy longing. Make much of faith, for it is the key of blessedness. Faith lays hold of Christ, and Christ in turn honors faith by supplying all that it needs. He gives His life, His Father, His kingdom, this is the partnership into which we are called! Every work of faith is done in His power, for apart from Him we can do nothing. But with Him, we can do all things, for He strengthens us.

The great end of all this is that the name of our Lord Jesus Christ would be glorified in us, and we in Him. He is glorified in our election, in our redemption, in our intercession, yes, and He shall be glorified in our very lives, as by His power we walk worthy of our calling. When the world sees a soul resting in Christ, bearing trials with patience, living in holiness, it is Christ who receives the honor. And what a wonder it is that we, poor sinners, should be glorified in Him, sharers in His throne, feasting on His renown, satisfied with His fame! The men of grace have found glory begun below, and that is but the foretaste of the heavenly bliss where no hunger or thirst remains, for the Lamb shall feed them and lead them.

According to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ, this is our foundation and our hope. It is grace from first to last. Despair not over your own weakness, for despair tramples on the blood of Christ and calls the power of God a lie. Rather, bring your weakness to Him who raises the dead and quickens dry bones. His resurrection power is at work in you who believe. Fellowship with Christ is your birthright as a believer, talk with Him, tell Him your sorrows, plead His promises, and He will fulfill them. He counts you worthy because He has made you worthy, and He will complete what He has begun. Only believe, and go forward in the strength of the Lord, for His name’s sake.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
