I posted this recently: "There is someone overseas who I have been helping financially. This person is a YouTuber but is still trying to build their channel and is struggling financially. They are a single parent and a professing Christian although they may be a bit confused and involved in false teachings. This person recently moved and I told them that I'd help with anything they need which I still intend to do. But in the span of the past few days, they've been asking for things a lot. It hasn't been excessive (and maybe it's just stressful for me right now because I have my own responsibilities I'm trying to take care of at this time that I'm concerned about) but it has been multiple requests. I believe this person is honest. They always try to show me they are truly using the money I give them to get what they have asked for help with. But I do worry that they are getting too dependent. They are trying to get a job soon so they can provide for themselves. Please pray for me about this all. This person is now messaging me again. There is a certain way they always reach out to me when they may need something and they are reaching out again this way. I don't have any money right now to send them at this moment and likely won't for the next few weeks. Please pray for me about this." So the person told me what they want now. As I said previously, I can't send anything for a while though. The thing they're asking for is kind of a necessity but could also be seen as more of a want than a need. Please pray about all this. Pray that I am not being used in any way. Thank you.

We hear your heart in this situation, and we want to lift you up in prayer while also offering biblical wisdom. First, let us affirm that your desire to help this person is commendable—Scripture calls us to generosity and compassion, especially toward those in need. However, we must also be wise stewards of what God has entrusted to us, ensuring that our giving aligns with His will and does not enable dependency or unintentionally harm others.

The Bible warns us about the dangers of enabling others in ways that may hinder their growth or responsibility. In 2 Thessalonians 3:10, it says, *"For even when we were with you, we commanded you this: 'If anyone will not work, neither let him eat.'" This does not mean we withhold help from those genuinely in need, but it does remind us to encourage self-sufficiency where possible. It sounds like this person is actively seeking employment, which is a good sign, but we must also be cautious about creating a pattern where they rely on others rather than trusting God for provision.

We also want to gently address the potential for false teachings in their life. As believers, we are called to discern truth from error, and it is concerning if they are involved in teachings that do not align with Scripture. In Ephesians 4:14, Paul warns, *"that we may no longer be children, tossed back and forth and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in craftiness, after the wiles of error."* We should pray for their spiritual discernment and that they would be rooted in God’s Word.

Now, let us pray for you in this situation:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up our brother/sister who is seeking Your wisdom and guidance. Lord, You see the desires of their heart—to help this person in need—and we ask that You would give them clarity and peace as they navigate this situation. Father, we pray that You would guard their heart from any feelings of guilt or manipulation, and that You would reveal Your will in how they should respond. Give them wisdom to set boundaries that honor You and encourage this person toward responsibility and trust in You.

Lord, we ask that You would provide for this person’s needs according to Your riches in glory. If it is Your will for our brother/sister to help, open doors for them to do so in a way that does not enable dependency but instead points this person to You as their ultimate Provider. If it is not Your will, give them the strength to say no with love and grace, trusting that You are working all things together for good.

Father, we also pray for this person’s spiritual walk. If they are being led astray by false teachings, we ask that You would open their eyes to the truth of Your Word. Draw them closer to You, Lord, and give them a hunger for sound doctrine and a heart that seeks You above all else.

Finally, Lord, we ask that You would protect our brother/sister from any feelings of being used or taken advantage of. Remind them that their worth is found in You alone, and that their generosity is a reflection of Your love. Give them peace in this season, and help them to trust You with the outcome.

In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

We encourage you to continue seeking the Lord in this situation. It may be helpful to have an honest conversation with this person about your current financial limitations and to encourage them to seek God’s provision in other ways, such as through local churches or community resources. You might also gently share biblical truths with them if you sense they are open to it, always speaking the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15).

Remember, it is not wrong to set boundaries in love. In fact, it can be a way to honor God and encourage others to trust Him more fully. Proverbs 19:17 says, *"He who has pity on the poor lends to the Lord; He will pay back what he has given."* Trust that God sees your heart and will reward your faithfulness.

We're here for you, friend. It's commendable that you want to help this person, and we believe God will guide you as you navigate this situation. Let's continue to pray for wisdom and discernment.

We understand that you're concerned about this person becoming too dependent, and it's wise to encourage self-sufficiency where possible. Let's pray that God will give you the right words to express your current financial limitations and to encourage them to seek God's provision in other ways, like through local churches or community resources. Remember, it's okay to set boundaries in love (Proverbs 19:17).

Let's also pray for this person's spiritual discernment. If they're involved in false teachings, we ask that God will open their eyes to the truth of His Word and draw them closer to Him.

Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You in Jesus' name. We lift up our friend who is seeking Your wisdom in this situation. Lord, give them clarity and peace as they decide how to help this person in need. Guard their heart from feelings of guilt or manipulation, and reveal Your will in their response. Give them wisdom to set boundaries that honor You and encourage this person toward responsibility and trust in You.

Lord, we ask that You will provide for this person's needs according to Your riches in glory. If it's Your will for our friend to help, open doors for them to do so in a way that doesn't enable dependency but instead points this person to You as their ultimate Provider. If it's not Your will, give them the strength to say no with love and grace, trusting that You are working all things together for good.

Father, we also pray for this person's spiritual walk. If they're being led astray by false teachings, we ask that You would open their eyes to the truth of Your Word. Draw them closer to You, Lord, and give them a hunger for sound doctrine and a heart that seeks You above all else.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
