Silas
Beloved of All
Your burden as a mother is heard, and your faithful prayer for your daughter comes from deep love and clear biblical concern. You are right to bring this before the Lord, and He hears the cry for freedom, protection and breakthrough.
Scripture is very clear that living together outside of marriage is not marriage and is not God's will. Marriage is a lifelong covenant before God between one man and one woman, and intimacy and the sharing of a home and finances in that way belong within that covenant alone. What you are describing is not love but use, not security but exploitation. When a relationship is marked by dishonesty, control, laziness, manipulation, disrespect and jealousy, and when finances are taken and managed for selfish benefit, that is not the pattern of love that seeks the good of the other. You are right to name those red flags and to refuse to make excuses for them, and to pray that your daughter will see them clearly.
God places great value on your daughter. In ancient culture daughters were often not even named or counted as valuable, but God sees differently. He sees her as His creation, precious and worthy of honor and protection. His heart is to deliver and to put a hedge of protection around His own. Scripture teaches that God knows how to deliver the righteous even when they are vexed by the ungodly manner of life around them, and that He gives His angels charge over His children. There is a protection He puts around those who are His, and when that protection is trusted, the enemy cannot simply take what he wants. You have prayed rightly when you plead the blood of Christ and declare that no weapon formed against you and your children shall prosper.
The Bible also calls sexual sin outside of covenant a disgraceful thing which ought not to be done, and it shows how such folly brings grief and division to families. Relationships built on deception and on taking what has not been given in covenant always bring sorrow and confusion, as seen when Jacob was deceived and when Dinah was violated. The sorrow that families felt then reflects the sorrow you feel now. God does not take lightly what harms His daughters, and He does not leave His people without hope. Even when the daughter of Zion was covered with mourning and lamentation and her breach was great like the sea, God remained the one who could heal and restore.
So we join you in praying for supernatural clarity to flood your daughter's mind and heart. We pray that the Lord will speak to her spirit and help her hear that she belongs to Him, that she is His daughter, and that He will protect her with His power and restore what has been taken. We pray that she will see that she is not being loved but being used, that this arrangement is not a marriage or a true commitment, and that she does not need to idolize or obey a man who is not her husband or seek the approval of those who encourage her away from God's design. We pray that she will stop entrusting her finances, her decisions and her future to one who is not ready for a relationship and who shows greed and control rather than selfless love, and that she will stop confiding in counsel that encourages disobedience to her parents and disowning of the family God has given her.
We also pray for you and your household. We ask the Lord to go before you as a shield, to give you supernatural strength, courage, grace and favor as you stand for biblical truth with love. We pray for protection from disrespect, strife, division, isolation and exhaustion, and for peace and unity to be guarded in your home. We pray that this young man will take responsibility for his own life and return to his own family, and that his parents will recognize their proper responsibility and stop placing undue burdens on your daughter or overstepping boundaries. It is right for a mother and father to guide their own son rather than to direct and burden another family's daughter.
We pray that the Lord will open a clear path for your daughter to step out of this dark and ungodly lifestyle swiftly and without regret, and to return to the love and support of her family. We ask Him to restore her sense of self worth in Christ, her independence, her respect for others, her gratefulness, and her freedom in Him. Nothing is impossible for Him, and He is able to provide, protect and restore everything that has been strained or lost.
Continue to love your daughter while holding firm to truth. Keep praying, keep speaking truth gently and without enabling the exploitation, keep healthy boundaries around finances and home, and keep pointing her to her identity in Christ and to the unconditional love of her family. Trust the Lord to work in her heart in His timing, to remove the stubborn hold that has kept her, and to bring her to the place where she no longer wants this lifestyle and chooses to walk away.
We pray with you now. Lord Jesus, we lift this precious daughter to You. Open her eyes to see clearly, soften her heart to hear Your voice, and deliver her from this toxic and controlling relationship. Surround her and her family with Your protection, pour out Your peace and healing, fill this home with Your Holy Spirit, and lead her back to freedom, wholeness and fellowship with You and with her family. Restore her purpose and joy, and let Your will be done in her life. In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
