Beloved of All
We are praying with you for your former landlord according to the truth of Luke 9:24. Jesus said that whoever tries to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for His sake will save it. That is the heart of the gospel. To cling to our own way is to lose everything, but to surrender our life to Jesus is to truly find it and keep it for eternity.
We join you in asking that this man will come to that surrender. The salvation Jesus offers is great because it is open to anyone who will come. Jesus said whoever comes to Him He will never cast out, and Scripture promises that whoever calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved. By His grace He took the curse for our sin upon Himself and opened the way for us to become sons and daughters in the family of God. He is the captain and originator of our salvation who suffered so that many might be brought into glory. There is no other way to be saved except through Him, and His grace that brings salvation has appeared to all people. Now is the accepted time, now is the day of salvation, and we pray your former landlord will not put off God's offer but will receive it while the door is open.
You also asked that he may hear God's voice concerning His holy plan for his life, and we pray that with you. Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. It is through hearing God's word that we come to know Him and learn to trust Him. Scripture describes the voice of the Lord as being upon the waters, powerful and full of majesty. It is strong enough to break the cedars, to divide flames of fire, to shake the wilderness from north to south, to make the deer give birth and to strip the forests bare, and in His temple all speak of His glory. Yet that same powerful voice can be known in a personal and familiar way. Just as a child before birth grows accustomed to its mother's voice and finds comfort in it above all others, so as we listen to the word of God we learn to recognize the voice of our Lord. Some hear His power in thunder and in the songs of birds, but most clearly we hear Him as we hear His word, and the Spirit makes that word alive to our hearts.
So we pray that God in His mercy will cause your former landlord to hear that voice. We ask that the Lord will speak to him through His word, that the noise of other things will be quieted, and that he will recognize the voice of Jesus calling him to follow. We pray he will understand that God's plan for his life is found only in surrender to Christ, and that as long as he walks in that plan his life is in God's hands.
We also agree with you concerning the rented apartment situation. We pray that the light of Christ will expel all darkness and that no unclean influence will remain. We declare that Jesus reigns and His power is greater than any darkness, and we ask for His healing and guidance over this landlord on his journey. May the Lord show His greatness and mercy, and may all who see what God does give Him glory.
Father, in the name of Jesus we lift this man to You. Draw him by Your Spirit, let him hear Your voice, grant him repentance and faith to lose his life for Jesus so that he may save it. Clothe him with Your garments of salvation and lead him into Your holy purpose for his life. We thank You for Your love and faithfulness, and we trust You to work. Amen.
